Yeah he’s up there for sure. Akuma can zone him out pretty well too, but just like dhalsim, he gets caught and it’s over.
It’s just the name of one of their servers, that’s all.
I’ve seen Elf players pull it off against Sagat.
sabin, other than that one random good one magus spoke of, have you played any good guiles?
you vs yoshio guile would be nice.
i actually played you at evo on cigarbobs cab.
In a tie the winner is usually decided by which team one in their games vs each other.
So if teams 3 and 4 had the same points, but team 3 beat team 4 when they played each other, team 3 would win
Have you met Garoogamesh yet?
man i fucking miss japan, i really miss buya sportsland freeplay
thanks, yeah i thought of that too, seems to be the only theory that made sense that night heh. :). still, its a really good experience for a beginner like me to play with and against top players. the hype was mad and REAL. gotta love that shit.
No problem. wish I could watch the vids but I’m on a crappy 3G mobile broadband connection with severe bandwidth limits
Good shit art. Theres nothing worse then losing to yourself, and not because the person out played you. but that shit happens alot. especially with Sf4 shortcuts.
Highest Foreign placer ever? Can u say…Gdlk?
By the time you come back you might as well call this shit united states of free money.
but you my questions is what are alot of chuns doing in the sim match? have you gotten to play nuki, nemo, or y24?
arturo: we need access to more japanese advanced strategy discussions that they apparently OPENLY discuss. how are these done? via blogs? is there an SRK-alternative in japan? how are these high level things talked about? only in person? no documentation?
at least getting glimpses of that level would help normal scrubs like me obtain higher status.
congrats on top3. you better win next week or i’m not letting you touch me next time i see you.
I think Blanka vs. Rufus is 5-5, actually. It’s like a bunch of Rufus matchups…he has some things that shut him down but then he lands the ultra by glancing at the opponent from 5 feet away.
You’re forgetting Zangief. Zangief is the one who really shuts that character down. I’d love to hear some jap Zangi/Rufus players on that match, I’m sure they would say it’s 6-4, leaning toward 6.5-3.5.
From what I’ve seen the Gief players lose because they start jumping at Rufus to try to smother him but the Rufus players end up getting the air-to-air HK -> ultra or the anti-air EX snake strike out of the corner. You can see this match a bunch of times by watching our best Rufus players get slaughtered in the Shiozawa cup by Gief. (even if it shouldnt have been reset)
I’m pretty sure this shit is on their forums. Anyway its not like theyre using secret special moves that we don’t know about. Just watch some vids. All the advanced strategy you could want is in there. You usually can’t hide your shit in a vid unless its some advanced option select BS.
It seems there’s a lot of split opinions.

Umehara said Sabin is stronger than Iyo
In an interview he said that he thinks Iyo is the stronger player but
If he thinks he’s above that, that’s a pretty big deal
Then there’s the comments saying there’s no way Sabin is good, etc etc. Some praises here, some shit talk there
Who’s the idiot that keeps linking to here? They don’t care.
How do the japanese know Daigo said Art was stronger than Iyo? Was that like…published or something? lol
Translation from a friend aim log…
[15:57] : people thought sabin sucks but
[15:58] : since he won a tournie with TKD people are questioning the rumor
[15:58: someone said, i dont fucking care about weak ass american
[15:58] : someone called sabin a gorilla and wishes if he died
[15:58] : someone said
[15:58] : damnnnnnnnnnnnnn
[15:59] : im so disappointed in sabin, people said he’s better than iyo but i now understand how americans’ level is so low. america’s top class is japan’s high intermediate.
[15:59] someone called sabin a ******
[16:00] : and wants him to leave japan immediately
[16:00]: someone said sabin calls people niggas
[16:00] : so people called him a ******
[16:00] : someone said, i bet you people cant beat sabin
[16:01] : around the bottom people are worshipping sabin
[16:02] : praising him
[16:02] : rather
These forest fires art… they bring a tear to my eye. You are one world class arsonist I must say… people in japan are too skinny though feed these niggas more salt sandwiches and send them home on the train!
Comedy gold from above!
Is the vid with Sabin vs Azaryuna anywhere? I would like to see it.
Thanks
Actually they were saying that Sabin is half black and uses the word nigga a lot, so he’s insulting himself and suffers from a major inferiority complex. They know about black oppression in the past and only think of it as a racist term, when people throw it around as slang here without a speck of malice, lol
So no, they didn’t call him that. In fact someone misinterpreted it like your friend and was telling him to knock that shit off, especially since Sabin will probably be reading it.
sabin beasting JPN, gs
Yea, many foreign cultures, japan included, have a hard time understanding why americans toss that word around like candy since to them it would be a huge insult. One of many cultural misunderstandings that can lead someone who doesn’t really know wtf is up to walk by and overhear something and then go post on 2ch. An average japanese person can walk by and hear “this nigga has the best fuerte in the world” and completely hear that as an insult.
The statement that our top players are as good as their “high intermediate” is probably true tbh…simply because of the much better arcade situation that they have. However, it won’t be true for long if our top players keep playing over there with them. There is nothing inherently better about their players genetically or anything. Art and ameriken have proven pretty well I think that given the same situation(an arcade with high level play every day right down the street), americans are just as good as they are and I really look forward to next year’s SBO if our top players keep visiting japan and taking advantage of their situation like they do.
