Well, I guess its good that I spar with Chaos almost everyday. Havent played in about 2-3 days tho.
And I guess it also means I really need to get a 2nd character to pick up. But I’ll wait & see what the update brings. As of now my choices are: Akuma, Ryu, Boxer & Sim (no particular order)

Dude. if you play Ken I would highly suggest picking up Rufus. I think a Ken player with a rush down mentality(that’s how he’s supposed to be played anyway) would do well with Rufus.

If it hits, you get a free combo. If it doesn’t, there’s one open frame between the mk slide and the short slide/back+short, meaning that if Gief tries regular spd it’ll lose to your short because it has 2 frames of startup and no invincibility. He could do ultra or ex spd, but that’s not too likely. So yeah, it’s a potentially unsafe string on block, but it’s much safer than rh slide and pushes Zangief back a little more than rh slide. Early antiair meaty mk slide to teleport back is 100% safe though, obviously depending on the location on screen.
Like I said, personally I don’t like sliding on Gief. But if I was gonna use a slide, it’d be mk.

Yeah usually what you can do is if the player tries to hit a button after blockstun, once st RH (overhead) hits on counter, they get a free toward+mk xx dash xx fierce xx CoD, and there goes like 30% of sims life I believe. Its pretty good vs Rog also because theres a small window where Rog can actually get hit on wakeup if he tries to do headbutt.
Also regarding the roll behind vs Sim. I do this shit all the time. If you try to teleport away, and Abel rolls just behind you at the right time, you teleport directly behind him because of input/direction changes once Abel switches sides so you end up not going anywhere. It causes you to basically guess when to teleport which can be bad because it allows Abel to stay on you up close, or space you out from a distance because you’re trying to guess sides from the roll.
Im not sure why I dont really like Rufus. I’ll give him a shot in training mode to see if I can get used to him. But Im new to SF scene as far as the fundamentals go, i.e zoning, footsies, proper spacing etc… Although Im an old head, Ive never played none of the proper SF games to learn these things, only since SFIV have I really been trying to learn these basics, but they do not come overnight, so its rough. Its just that Ive been playing Ken since 1991. And he is a fun character. He will always be my main go to guy tho.

basically it says that me/tkd won a tourney tonight (but i fucked up, i told him to say shinjuku sportsland instead of shibuya sportsland, oops) and its like, are you sure sabins that bad? and i said japanese people talk hella shit behind anon screenames but dont say shit irl, what do you expect youre japanese. ha!

anyway shibuya sportsland was dope as shit tonight, lots of good players there and hfz brought his camera as promised so there was hella matches recorded. half of me winning half of me losing in casuals. there was this NO NAME boxer who lost his card and got a new one…dude was a fuckin monster, one of the best boxers ive ever seen. plus i played a pretty high ranked dictator player (kuma maybe?) and i got at him like hella games. I also have like 2-3 games of me playing vs TKD as well.
so yea, manager decides he wants to do a random 3on3 ranbat with all the players from the tourney there. so we get this 10k bp vega player, TKD and me. which is cool cause TKD is Issei Suzukis boy hahaha. small world!

i havent seen enough abel vs chun to really say. nemo hasnt been around when i was around! havent seen nuki either. TKD plays chun but you know its just his alternate so w/e.
also when i say fuck niggas up in close im thinking of sim mindset too much since he sucks in close. i meant to say he can make people hesitate to throw shit out cause his vortex is pretty decent. its no uppercut fadc but it still aint bad.
as for my sim vs ur abel yea if u dont beat me u should feel bad cause its in ur favor lol. which is why i should probably learn ryu for this match…hmm.
the reason why i have a high opinion of abel is because there are quite a few high level BP players with Abel…and I see them getting in vs sagat, akuma (lol not gief) and lots of other characters. He does have his issues, but then again who doesnt have counters?

he would do pretty well, only thing is, i don tthink hes that great at adapting on the fly so if he gets figured out over a long set, he might not be able to adjust in time to american tourney rules/format. also theres the whole console characters thing which he really has no idea about since he plays in arcades. so its really hard to give you a concrete answer but i think he would do well vs a lot of the USA that fo sho.
i only played yota one day at bigbox so i cant really say, i mean im sure he got better after playin in japan tho.

my sim skills? before evo they were probably 6.5 out of 10 cause i was focusing on seth. now its probably 7.5 dunno why you asked me to rate by numbers lol
nothing really i mean rufus has been figured out pretty much. i guess matchup experience is all. maybe better use of j. fwd for crossups (which is how mago lost at SBO this year, to rufus crossups of all things?)

Only bad thing with Sim, is your defense has to be 100% otherwise Abel just has wayyyy too many tools to get in and risk/reward is just much higher for Abel because he can just put you in different positions on knockdown all of which lead to almost death for Sim.
I’m far from an abel expert, but in my limited experience, sim is one of the few matchups where abel may have a slight advantage

Depends on if the Sim player can keep up with Abel’s speed and is good at anticipation. Otherwise, Sim isn’t going to have a way to land any real damage or setup a situation where he can make Abel guess, because Sim would be in blockstun the whole time.
Focusing limbs is a nice way to get in, but its not the best option. Wheel kick is alright, but if you get too predictable, Abel eats a super/ultra on his way down.
Sim can’t really keep Abel in lockdown on wakeup as he can roll/ultra through any Sim pressure. Jump back fierce is good if Abel doesn’t have Ultra, but can’t really be done once he gets any kind of meter.
Sim has to be on his toes and well aware of what Abels next move will be and counter accordingly. Like I said before, Abel can roll in and cause Sim to teleport next to him as opposed to away but this requires the roll to crossup, while at the same time, Sim can just throw him out of it and continue fireball / limb pressure.
Sim can also just predict a roll and Ultra Abel right in the face and then just sit on a lead with basic keepaway and pretty much just sit there without too much trouble.
Sorry Art, I just like Abel a lot. haha. It sucks I wanted to play your Sim before I left for Vegas but I guess I’ll have to wait for next evo. :sad:

yeah dope shit for real. anyway that no name boxer = chome tarou (a master boxer), he’s a regular there, think you can find him everyday there and yeah he lost his card only a few days ago and he’s already getting to 30k bp heh.
anyway yeah the only top dictator i recognized last night was Neurosis ( master dictator - he was in my team lol), the other one is Massa but i dont really know who he is.
Ponyo(master gouki, ranked 6th among goukis) was also there last night. He was playing Ryu at first then later on switched to his main.
There’s also TKD bringin his godlike fuerte raping the shit out of my abel on my wakeup LOL… and Kebin/Kevin who played a pretty good abel.
The 3on3 tourney was held for the one player who came all the way from Kyushu (i dont know whats his name or his char though - proly the dictator)… One thing though I liked the way they set the team up… One godlike/master character, one advanced/intermediate/A class char and one beginner… so the matches were interesting with both beginners went first everytime ( I won all of my first matches except the last one against a regular sagat, but shits mad close - unfortunately no video since i think i do worse in front of the camera, unlike sabin LOL he do better infront of a camera haha)…
ok enough with the talk, i just got home and just thought of clearin the above stuff up while waiting for all the vids to finish uploading.
