im not sure cause i never saw american players use this, but now all the abels are doing what looks like close standing RH? in their blockstrings. example j. fwd stand rh (?) looks like this fast overhead kick and then they seem to get frame advantage into the usual stand short f. fwd shenanagians. looks pretty good and maybe its something to try to fish for counterhits?

Both, Abel does not suck period. I mean sure he has his tough matches especially cause his lack of antiair (so im guessing in theory someone like Rufus might be tough, but I odnt play Abel so idk) but in general hes really a solid char. Anyone with a quick dash and can avoid zoning sooooo well while fucking you up in close cant be all that bad. generally he has ok fights vs a lot of people, sure he might need to work harder than maybe sagat but i def think hes a contender.
maybe i dunno. though sometimes i watch the old 80’s games or shumps games and god damn niggas rape these games on 1cc like its superplay. was watching someone 1cc final fight, know its not the hardest game in the world but its pretty cool to see my childhood classics get exploited - i didnt know cody was god tier in that game hah

actually i broke 13 yesterday about to get to 60% and 27k bp then i went to bigbox and i kept going 1 game 1 loss, 1 game 2 losses…etc lol.
most ive seen daigo get at bigbox is like 13 max before i beat him. i think i lost to him 3 times in a row before then. daigo is def top but its really inconsistent with the winstreaks here, i dont see anyone really streaking like THAT at bigbox. with the exception of mago every time he plays…streak.
ameriken streaks a LOT too from what ive seen - he lost his old card so his new one has 40k BP with around 400 plays and he has a 83% (!) win ratio and this is from playing at bigbox. so you can say he does get at the top players and that winratio is impressive as hell. ill never be able to get close to that. really too bad that hes doing that with sagat tho, boooo

KOF12 = DEAD. AS. SHIT. seriously its really sad, ive NEVER seen ANYONE play this game in versus mode. EVER. i never see anyone playing this game period, shits dead on arrival for the most part.
kof2k2 unlimited match is popular like whoa. not everywhere but the places that do have it have some good comp for it…i tried it, its pretty fun if you like kof + it has all the kof99 crew. i didnt know kasumi had a counter super lol, nameless seems buff as fuck, kyo-2 (nests 99 kyo) unfortunately does retarded damage in MAX mode with the bc bullshit ive seen one combo in BC do like 75% lol. k’ plays like his 2000 version now, which means low b b head stigger blackout teleport into mixups all day and now he has more shit in the corner. fwd b overheads into his qcb+k now too, cheap he seems hella good now. but game seems fun if you like kof style/2k2 in general. i do like the game i just cant devote too much time to playing it.
as far as the older games go yes! 3rd strike is still popular in some spots, that game refuses to die. and ive seen all sorts of random games get played seriously. ST, still gets play forever lol, and ive even seen people go at it in the new power instinct (4)? sequel to matrimelee or something, that game looks retarded but whatever lol.

as for what they do differently than us. They have top Japanese players in the country played each other in 1 arcade. Imagine if we had our top 10/20 playing in the same arcade every day…besides only being able to play at evo. See the difference? Also people make tutorial videos of advanced shit and talk about it openly. SRK is like a barren desert sometimes and the strategy section isnt really “strategy” or is horribly outdated, i know its hard to keep that shit up to date though especially with so many ppl trolling the site.

The few Ken’s ive played against that were very solid played pretty much like a carbon copy of dr chaos. which is good shit, it means basically hes doing the right stuff with his char. I didn’t see anything crazy that Chaos doesnt already do now.
probably cause ken is flashier than ryu and some people just like playing low tiers and trying to win with them.
regarding MK slide for tripguard vs gief i was scared to do it even on hit i was under the impression that he could still SPD. are you sure I get a 2nd attack for free or can teleport away in time? I know I can combo off fwd slide from MAX range (ex fwd slide into short slide super) but as you know its hard to get at that sweet spot to do that in matches. basically im scared if i fwd slide i wont hit him at max range and not only can i not combo i get spded

Thats so cool about the Abel players… I like Abel a lot, I picked him up for a little but then I realized some chars are really fun to fight (Ryu, Sim) but the rest are just a pain in the ass cuz he gets rushed like a motherfucker and you gotta be patient. Also Akuma has some very broken shit vs him.

Dood you know what you need to do before you leave…you need to get interviews with all the top players. Like get an SRK head to translate for you and to tell each player its for the community. I bet some of the nicer players will understand. Srsly how awesome would it be to get an interview with like…Mizoteru or AC Revenger about how the game works.
American Abels are moving more towards close s. RH as it is. You can link big shit off counter hits, and even without, it’s good mix that leads into other shit.
About Abel in general… he doesn’t suck… but he’s got serious issues. The biggest thing with Abel is not letting your opponent realize how bad his issues are. Abel on Sim is pretty bad (and I’ve gotten a lot better at it… I don’t give a fuck if you’re in the time chamber… I like me when you get back), so that would color your opinion on him. Sim can’t exploit Abel’s issues very effectively.
Characters that can (the majority of characters), can make Abel look pretty bad.
Now, Abel does get around a lot of shit that other characters can’t. You can’t play traditional SF4 fireball zoning on Abel at all. You can poke the shit out of him though.
He also doesn’t fuck most characters up close up. It looks like he does… but he really doesn’t. Whenever I play against an Abel, when I’m picking one of my bullshit characters that I never use, I never lose to Abel’s shit up close. It’s just not THAT good… but again, it’s all about making your opponent think it is…
That being said, he’s definitely a contender. I’ve done enough to realize that.
All that being said… question: What are the Abel’s over there doing againt Chun? Losing? If not, how are they fighting her?

Battle Points are just your totals for that character. Player Points are your totals period. So if Sabin were to register a new Ryu card, he’d have 0 BP, but his opponent could see that his PP would be +20,000. So I guess its a way of showing the player strength regardless of how many random other chars they register. The PP usually hovers around whatever your highest BP for one character is.
And the money stacks you see after a win are Zeni, the in-game currency. You use zeni to buy alternate colors and costumes. By now, everyone who played in the arcades from the start are zeni millionaires, but back when alt costumes first broke we had to scrape that shit together just to buy one.
