Good info Art. Keep it coming if you play that dude again. I need to tighten my shit up then! I never use the knee’s for throw bait and I should. Benkyo, benkyo, benkyo!!!
Man Mizoteru sounds like a nightmare for just about anybody. I’d love to see more of his matches just to see how other top players handle his turtley and unorthodox style.
No no, we don’t need more Mizoteru’s in this world. Think of the Shoto’s.
Good replies Sabins. You made some good points on why the top players don’t try to help people on SRK. I do find it hard to believe that if someone like Justin made a “Ask me anything about Rufus thread” that people wouldn’t STFU and listen to anything he has to say. I saw you posted some shit in the Dhalsim and Seth boards. Respects for that.
Question. I would like your assessment of the top 5 characters in the game, preferably. Has your opinion changed since going to japan. Lastly, where do YOU put Seth in the mix? I have him at number 7 or 8 and wanted to hear your views.
I’m pretty new to the whole fighting game scene… but this is really cool of this guy Sabin to take the tame out to answer ALL of these fucking questions.
Just wanted to say thanks.
Hey Sabin, this is a great, great thread, and thanks for spending the time to answer everyone’s questions. Especially loved you droppin the Mizoteru knowledge!
Sabin - Good luck at TRF today! Yeah I think Kim blurts stuff out on the mic sometimes.
I think it was

Heres a funny blanka story of Fax in the bigbox 5v5
SO Fax’s team is beasting through all these top cats, specifically him and this Gief player. So they eventually make it to top 3 or 4 match where they have to play Mago’s team, some of Fax’s team members lose to Mago’s team then Fax hops on and runs through a couple cats only to face Mago. So they are having a good match, Fax playing good footsies and poking well but losing the battle of attrition. Its about 35% Fax and 65% or so Mago, Fax turns up the gimicks and hustles over to somehow get a nuetral throw, now right at the point you hear Fax’s team all laughing and chanting while Mago’s team is all Face palms and headshakes. This all still while Blanka is head biting, so any Blanka player surely knows what is gonna happen, low and behold Fax does the fish dance into ambiguous ultra for the kill. Second round is virtually a replay of the first with Fax getting a cheerful bite wile Mago and his team look on in coin flip disgust. Funny thing is that his next match was vs Nemo where he does the SAME thing, right after the throw nemo is shaking his head in disgust but he comes out and blocks it, but still fucks up his retaliation. I believe Fax won that match as well but it might of been the Gief dude. Go Fax “coin flippin” Gimoto
Yo Sabin, who’s the best Dictator you’ve played in JP so far?
Damn Art you must be having so much fun. I was planning on going to Japan this winter for vacation and thought of stopping by some arcade to play but I think I’d rather just give them my money, haha. Anyway, great thread and have fun with the rest of your trip!
Since gambling is illegal over there and all, Were you able to get an Money matches?
And also how the hell do players get away with playing SF4 6 hours a day? If he works 8 hrs, sleeps 8hrs, and plays 6hrs, that’s the whole day. If they’re married or have gfs, how do they get away with it?

how much you spend in japan monthly? give me an estimate (rent, food, arcade, transportation, etc.)
my friend and i have been wanting to chill in japan for a while, but i wanna know how much we should be expecting to pay
also, is it hard getting around and doing shit when you don’t know japanese?
I brought almost 3k for 2 weeks. But I didnt really play a lot of SF, I was more partying and buying clothes/ tourist shit. You can do it for a lot less but your always gonna sacrifice something.
Last time I checked 8+8+6= 22 and one day consisted of 24. Unless Japan works in a way of 22 hours in a day(which wouldn’t really suprise me) that still leaves 2 hours of shit to do.
Thank you for all the information man! Seems like you are having a blast in Japan, and makes it so tempting to go there myself:)
How many of the japanese dudes hanging out at the arcades would you say knows English? Isn’t English a part of their education, or have most of the guys just spent a lot more time in the arcades, than in school?
Keep developing your Dhalsim man! Together with Iyo, you even inspire people from Norway (Including me)
Ps: What kind of grip do you use on sticks, and why?
Japanese suck at english in general, which seems surprising at first. But english grammar is like the opposite of japanese so they totally fuck it up.

Anyway, something I thought was pretty cool to balance out the stupidity. I was playing against this master class Balrog (Boxer) yesterday. He was pretty much owning everyone else in the arcade, so people were avoiding playing him. We were having some close matches, but he was always the one to close it out. I fought him like 12 times and didn’t get a win, even lost a couple thousand BP. Whatever, I don’t care. With every fight I learned something new, and now no Balrog below master class will be a threat to me.
Anyway, towards the end of this losing streak, I was getting kind of frustrated, maybe doing the mild button slam/tap that people do when they lose matches. After losing the 11th fight, the Rog player ran over and basically said “Sorry for taking away all that BP.” I told him not to sweat it. But I thought it kinda cool that he would run over and say sorry for kicking your ass. I felt a lot better about losing to him after that.
Damn, wasn’t thinking correctly. :looney: Well anyways, I guess 2 hrs will suffice since sf4 is life for a lot of them. Usually having 2 hours of free time still seems kind of small. But since they enjoy sf4 and playing it is entertainment I guess it’s fine with them.
