if you think that’s weird, wait until this season where there are squid, and lobster zords that live in a fish tank, and a sentient transforming lantern and a sushi samurai.

The series has been pretty comfortable with its absurdity since it began, ie: flying monkeys with golden armor, a magician’s head floating in a tube. I think the only theme they got way out of hand with was RPM’s.

the five main rangers have colors, costumes and powers based on the elements / kanji.
red: fire
blue: water
green: tree
yellow: rock
pink: heaven/sky (most of her attacks have flower petals)
calligraphy / writing kanji is key to the series (in the original japanese anyway), and I gather from the audition scripts this aspect of the show is staying in. all five rangers have a telephone / morpher that transforms into an ink-brush. when they morph they write their specific kanji in the air and transform. it sounds weird in on paper, but its pretty badass in practice. they write stuff out in the air with said brushes to do various things - when they turn their robots all giant like to combine they write the kanji for “big,” when they form shinken-oh they write “combine” etc.
sushi samurai is kinda spoilery, but if you want to know:
‘sushi samurai’
is red’s childhood friend and the gold ranger. he isn’t trained as a samurai like the main five but grew up as a sushi chef. his fighting style is entirely self taught and his attacks / zords all have a fish/sushi theme

Wow, a lot of new actors here. Guys like Craig and Mike lost out to that? I’m still scratching my head. But I guess the producers are seeing something I’m not.
Now they better do the team-up and it has to be just as epic in the morph sequence like Shinkenger vs GoOnger.
The key to this season is to rebuild the Power Rangers franchise up, so I don’t see them doing a RM/Samurai team-up. However, I’m most definitely positive they’ll do a Samurai/PR2012 team-up.
I don’t think they have to rebuild it that much though. Yes, the MMPR revisions were ATROCIOUS, but RPM was actually a very good season, only tainted by its timeslot. Of course…they really can’t do a teamup for it because RPM is in a different continuity altogether unless they’re going to put Shikenger in that same continuity.

That part was from Power Rangers Wild Force (2002). He truly made Power Rangers look totally bad***! Even though it is to us fans. LOL
When is the new season going to start airing?
I probably should start martial arts back up if I want a future role in PR. Gotta do that ish before I get too old.
I want to see Power Rangers surpass the simpsons. The simpsons has a 4 year lead, but the second they stop, the power rangers are going to overtake that ass.
The new season starts next year in the Spring. Casting is complete, and the main cast will be heading out to NZ next week to start training and production.

With all this being said, it is VERY likely that the NEW season of Power Rangers will be in HD next year on NICKELODEON (only channel in HD). Also, if you haven’t seen Power Rangers RPM…WATCH IT NOW! I’m tellin’ you, you will not regret one moment.
