Okay seriously this super is SO much fun for casual matches. I actually rely on the un-EX’d version… I do the chicken combo cancelled into super then sj and grab them in air. Oh, and cr.HP->EX works, but you have to cancel the HP… you can’t link it. Anyways I was having a lot of fun with it but again I wouldn’t reccomend it for practical use… his other SA’s are so much better. But the super is certainly fun in casuals… and throwing your opponent around like a rag doll is hilarious to watch.
MP->QCF+MK, MP->QCF+MK, reset with jab, dash towards or under, ex sa2. fun stuff. kinda like using the jab and dash to partition an ex oniyanma; it doesn’t always hit because people block more than throw or perform some sort of wake up, but when it does it looks cool. <(._. <)
YO you can mix up the hits between roundhouse and grab during regular activation. What do you think?? I mean its either eat that roundhouse or or hit them with the grab.
I think most people here play sa2/3. sa1 isn’t a bad as most make it out to be, but it does limit oro**. **That said there are some nice things about sa1 that can’t be done with the other supers.
The thing you can do with SA1 that the other supers can’t do is that it can be used as a reversal super. The problem is, its not even that good used that way, you are generally WAY better off just trying for EX upper, as it uses less meter and is significantly faster. Other than that, the non-ex version does piss poor damage in a combo (ending a chicken combo with it does 45 (regardless of if I cancel from the first cl.mp or the 3rd one, interestingly enough), while just doing the MP upper ending does 43, and for only slightly more meter, tengu stone does around 80-90). Hell, crouching HPxxEX SA1 is still only 68, its WAY harder to do than a chicken combo (at least IMO), and doesn’t even combo consistantly at anything resembling range (I can’t get it to combo from any farther than the range that cl.MP still comes out, and at that point I’m measuring almost in single pixels.)
The only other thing that comes to mind is the wakeup game you have with SA1 activated, but that is shaky at best, and not really even that threatening of damage. I’d much rather get about the same amount of damage from a tengu stone chip block string and be almost completely safe.
The only way I could see using this super is if EX SA1 comboed from c.HP consistanly from large ranges, in which case c.HPxxSuper would be really useful against makoto since c.HP destroys a majority of her pokes.
I dunno guys, it might not be the worst super in the game, but its definately not very good.
i learned oro using this super, and its worked out pretty good for me. thing is, its a super you use to psych out your opponent rather than using it for a combo. i say this because i only recently learned that it can be combined with the chicken combo (been playing since 2000, saw the man of gold vid 2006)
the EX version is great for countering supers. i actually caught a raging demon with this. having a full bar also makes people think twice about jumping in. its also a nice getaway move since you’re invincible while doing the super.
