crLK is only +1 on block and has way more pushback than stLK
also you can’t mask the slight walks forward with crLK
crLK crLP will push them too far back for any followup but crMP at the tip or crHP which is - on block
You’ll lose most pressure using crLK crLP as a frame trap
stLK has almost like a forward walk animation so it’ll help mask the slight walks forward and help hinder the opponents reaction
with stLK you can tick throw or follow up with stLP stMP / stMP stMP / stMP crMP frame traps
What are you luring out on chun with 5MP range?
People know 5MP is + on block and don’t press anything
Also even in your case, if you were to do VSB > Clap and they did throw something out, they wouldve gotten hit by clap and you can combo with crHP mpBolt
If they block the clap then you are + on block at that distance or - at worst but at a safe out of pressure distance
That’s when you do crMK > LP bolt
If you’re frame trapping to the point where they’re pushed out or walking backwards or after a teched throw, crLP won’t reach after crLK
And my response was to this
Saying “rather” sounds like you prefer it over stLK
So I gave my input on why stLK is a better option
We should also all be practicing our reactions to neutral jumps and backjumps after using "canned stuff"
I will be working more on that now that I have my counter hit and hit confirms down
One thing you have to consider though is that cr. LK has a very short hitstop on block (a discovery by @Los in S1). cr. LK into command grab is absolutely unreactable. So either they are already mashing jab or they will eat the grab.
I dont like lpBolt on block
What i said and you can find my post, i try not to put myself - in their face if i can help it
I react to them going from crouch to stand with crMK lpBolt
Of course it isnt 100% but it works most of the time
I mainly use crLK crLP confirm when they are cornered so even if i lose my turn they are still pressured in the corner
It’s not like I dont use it
I believe there are much more useful and better pressure gain from stLK
By the way, it’s way easier to time a meaty st hp xx overhead after a st hp xx EX fireball (and combo a cr mp after it), you just have to wait a split second after the fireball. It was harder in season 1 and you obviously had less frame advantage
They are taking laps in the training room learning how to play, if they are still using him.
Hey that wake up game and mind game stuff everybody else learned in S1 while you ignored it because of your invincible wake-up? Time to crack open a book and study, you can’t get by on natural ability anymore.
And Ken’s are crunchy: they can’t do brain-dead pressure anymore and be safe. Love it.
In Europe at the Gold and Platinum range I mostly fight Balrog, Guile, Urien and, surprisingly, Zangief at the moment. Barely see Ryu anymore and Necalli’s kinda dead as well. Laura is pretty rare too, which I’m totally fine with as I hate the mirror match.
Sad tale of woe: been playing SF5. Since the patch while I could tell Laura was good… my game just didn’t feel right. I couldn’t hit combo strings at all and it felt like I was underwater.
I’m not the best playing in the world, but I did make it into gold briefly before the patch… and was beating 5k players while at 3800 -4200.
Then I lost literally 15 sets in a row. Today. I could not win round, much less a match or even set. That was after loosing 8 more sets a week ago. From 3300 - 1300. I was begging to wonder if my BP rating was sham. I lost to a 1000. A bad one thousand. A one thousand that I just didn’t understand how they could beat me. I was mega-triggered.
After a bit muscle memory was telling everything was wrong. So I checked my settings. The only difference is direct input is now available. It was never a problem for me, I have a Brook Universal powering my game. But instead of forcing x-box, I let it use D-Input.
And there was the culprit. Switching back to X-Box mode put my timing back and everything instantly felt responsive. Either SF5’s D-Input on PC was implemented badly, or my PC hates the Brook Universal. More importantly, I started winning again. I’m at 1800 now, making the long trek back to were I think I should be. Sucks because it is only now I’m actually really playing Season 2… a month later.
Feel free to take a look at my ID (thisRalf). I can’t help but laugh at myself for it.
