Ryu Training Routine

I’m desperately trying to improve my game and believe I need to implement a training routine, I’m wondering if anyone is using a programme specifically for 5.
I’ve come to realise that light moves and combos are not that important compared to 4 and some guides that stress thier importance are doing so because of 4 and because of this I have come to question the use of the ‘essential’ combos.
For instance EVERYONE says that mp, mp xx Tatsu is a vital part of ryus game, but won’t explain why and I have found that mp, cr.mk xx Tatsu is in fact easier and has the potential to hit low if the mp is blocked.
Please correct me if I’m wrong and help me u distant how to get better.
