They have the same recovery ? But different startups?

no all non EX fireball share the same startup and recovery,what I mean is since the speeds vary it can result in them jumping too early or too late and getting hit by the fireball,so with LP Hado they have to wait a bit longer to jump without eating the fireball,or at least I am fairly certain that is the case.I remember Air saying to use LP for it iirc.Someone correct me if am just an idiot haha :smiley:

Is there a trick to the timing of doing ryu’s overhead into lp srk? I don’t have problems with much execution wise but I can’t figure out the timing for this shit, so annoying.

work only if opponent is standing and I think its a 1 frame link srk so not really worth it in game.

yeah that is only if your oerhead hits them standing,it is +3 if they are standing but only +1 if they are crouching.

thank you, i always do it with the same timing and it just seems 50/50 so this makes sense.

Why is doing cr.lk cr.lp xx light DP more difficult than cr.lk cr.lp xx fierce DP?

@Zombieguts what is your preferred counter hit setup for blowing up crouch tech? I’ve been using c.lk, s.lk, c.mp

I use a lot of different ones depending on if I am in the corner or mid-screen,if my opponent delay techs or mashes it hard,and also use different ones depending on matchup but my most used one is probably c.LK,c.LP then walk up a bit c.MP.It only works on people who delay tech though lol

Can you give me some examples of the other ones? Just so I can experiment with them. I have some of the basic counter hit setups, but I want a few specifically for blowing up crouch tech and delay tech.

Well against people who are really stingy with teching and wont really do it unless you walk right up next to them,just walking up and DPing or EX tatsu is good.I like c.LP,cl.HK against characters like abel,c.viper,and Sakura.c.LP,cl,HP is good against thos characters too,because if you do it with the link timing it leaves a three frame gap so at best they trade on a 3-frame normal and you can do a trade OS off of it.

The c.lp, cl.hp setup I like and understand it. But I’m not too sure about the c.lp, cl.hk one. Is there a particular reason for that one against those characters, because that leaves a rather large window.

It leaves a 6 frame gap if done as early as possible,which is why I said it is good against sakura,c.viper and abel,their shorts are 5 frame startup so you have only one frame to be CH and if they trade you can do a trade OS to convert more damage,plus a CH cl.HK on a crouching opponent is uber :smiley: lol

Are there any good Meatys in 2012 that are new for Ryu. I haven’t found a video of any meaty attacks or frame traps.
The only Meaty I have been using is F+M and Cl.HK and i always activate those two on time, but CL.HK if mistime can be punishable on block… i need some safe one any help. I Just made B rank as Ryu too so im trying to up my game mroe to keep it up,

well the only bad matchups I can say for certain are dhalsim and Fei long,maybe juri,all of those can be found in the NEW AE Ryu matchup thread :smiley:

Guys, I don’t play SF4, but I’m going to a tourney today to support my scene. I KNOW I’m not going to win, but I’d rather do -something-…so if Ryu had a flowchart, what would you say it was?
