If you c.mp to c.mp is a 2 frame gap so you trap someone pushing a button.
block string of c.lp,c.lp and then c.mp create a 2 frame gap or c.mk a 3 frame gap.
A good moment to frame trap with ryu is after doing a jumping attack. After a block jump in
walk a little forward and either go for c.lk or c.mp. Those are the best frame trap since your jumping
attack provide you with a long stun you dictacted how big the gap you want to leave to frame trap
them.
well-timed s.strong will beat it. it comes out as CLOSE s.strong sometimes and beat it, so you should always buffer the special when trying to play around it. you can also backdash and sweep if it whiffs at the right distance. it’s a hard move to constantly try to punish as ken will just walk you to the corner.
as for finger placement, no matter what “mode” you are in, i’m ALWAYS having index/middle/ring on jab/strong/fierce, and thumb on short as a default position. easy access to teching dash-throws, and all fingers ready for anti-air.
c.mk and c.hk doesn’t get any default positions… they shouldn’t be mashed anyways and most punishes/footsies you need for them doesn’t require THAT much speed.
not sure what daigo does though but do what works.
Anybody know why I am getting the message : Waiting for others players… every ranked match I play. The lag has been insane
since this ‘update’ I try reinstalling the game but same thing.
do you know a video which can show this, i sort of get it but not completely. Also i am maining Ryu atm, do you know any invincible moves or anything which is unstoppable/ close to being hard to stop?
Need some solid moves which also are and are not jump ins please, the opponents i play usually anti air well but it might be helpful.
This isn’t “pieton”, but I’ll answer some of your questions. Look for regular ryu matches and look for the counterhit sign whenever Ryu uses a crouching medium punch. All of Ryu’s shoryukens (including EX) have invincibility frames, however you will obviously get punished if they block your attack. What do you mean by solid moves? Everything characters do is situational; use cmk fireball as your most frequent poke, cmp to frame trap, forward fierce to punish and pressure, etc.
If they are predictable walk up and do SPS (f.hp). Fei can backdash after the second hit, not sure about Cody. You can also play focus “chicken”. Do you focus attack as well, and then either let it rip or backdash away. You can also react with tatsu but it’s riskier. Oh and don’t forget EX Hado.
My favorite is Ex fireball. You could also backdash and all the other that have been listed.
I think jump away is a good option too, opponent has to have amazing reaction I think to hit you; even if he
did it wont big dammage.
The important part also is when you poke with c.mk at far range you could simply not throw
a fireball so you could block a Focus. If opponent is simply preintively Focusing a lot, just stop
poking with c.mk at far range.
I would say to just start throwing some EX Hados out at around that range,if he jumps it you should get a free srk because of fast recovery on EX FB and if he focuses it gets beaten, once he eats enough of that he should stop. lol
I saw Daigo and other top players plinking grabs, so I started using plinking for everyhing, but somehow my execution got worse.
I use it during punishes, so instead of c.MP c.HP (with c.MP) HK.Tatsu I use c.MP (with c.LP) c.HP (with c.MP) HK.Tatsu.
My execution is better doing the former though.
Is there any benefit in using plinking without “real” linking (first hit or counter hit or grabs)? Or should I rely on good basic execution and only plink 1 and 2 frames?
Personally I p-link almost everything. If I punish with c.mp or c.hp I will start by p-linking it.
If I poke with c.mp I will p-link it too. Only time I dont p-link is when I poke with c.mk. ( but I will if
do a block string of c.lp , cmk xx fb) Another time where p-linking is a waste is with a jumping attack, you
dont want to push to many buttons since you may use an Os just behind.
If I do c.mk xx fb Fadc I will p-link my sweep or my c.mk.
For c.mp I would recommand you to use c.mp, c.lp and thumb on c.lk its very natural and you get an option select for throw.
For c.hp : hp, mp, lp is the best
For c.mk: just use mk and lk with 2nd and 3rd finger.
For sweep: hk,mk, lk
I think its a good habit too have and it become second nature very fast and I think execution
wise its more natural to hit many button. One extra advantage if you p-link your c.hp xx srk
all the time is you will notice that c.mp, c.hp xx srk become very easy. Also your Solar plexus
1 frame link c.hp will improve.
The best players do it( well Daigo does it at least) I try to emulate them.
EX Tomahawk is safe-jumpable,as it has a 5 frame startup. However I am not sure if OS DP would beat it,I think OS Sweep and block would be best against hawk,If he does EX Tomahawk you block it and get a huge punish,if he backdashes you sweep him and reset the situation.
How are people flying with Ryu and other shotos using hurricane kick? I saw Mago do it in a match against Daigo while he was trapped in a corner. I’ve seen a couple other players utilize this as well. Is it safe and an effective means to move across the screen? Thanks
