It does work. On the last starting frame, the move becomes active. So thus, it’s a 1 frame link (I think). It isn’t hard to do. Just keep practicing and you’ll get it.
If It’s a 1 frame link and I hear c.mp, c.mp is a 1 frame link but c.mp startsup at 3 frames but c.hp starts at 4 frames how are they both 1 frame links?
I don’t get it??
This.Ryu’s cr.MP and cr.LP leave at the same advantage on hit and block(+5 on hit and I believe +2 on block).Which means anything you can link from crouching jab can also be linked from cr.MP provided the distance allows it.
Don’t know if it has already been asked, but can I punish Ken’s stepkick on block? I usually try to counterhit it with cr. mp but then I’ll completely focus on the stepkicks and I will not be able to react to his jump ins, lol. If there was a way to punish it on block I’d have a much easier time dealing with him
Just on a side note, you can figure these things yourself by actually going to training mode, getting out a notebook and jotting down what you can and can’t punish. To look for how to punish a move, there are 2 things to consider. It’s frame advantage on block, and it’s knockback. Such moves like Yun’s shoulder, although -3 on block, cannot be punished by a dragon punch for example, because of it’s knockback. So look up Ken’s stepkick and find out it’s frames on block. After that, go to training mode and set the dummy to continue using that. Attempt to punish it. I don’t personally know whether it can be punished or not when it doesn’t whiff.
I actually tried that, I couldnt seem to find a way to punish it besides reversal super… Super comes out in 3 frames, so does jab and SRK, why don’t they punish it as well?
I don’t think you fully read my post. There are some moves that are negative on block to the point where they can normally be punished, but in actuality, cannot be punished because of their knockback. From your findings, it just means that super’s your own option to punish it then.
Ken’s step kick is not safe up close…I play Ken, and a decent frame trap I use is to do a step kick in close range and immediate SRK afterward to stuff whatever my opponent does. Point being, from max range step kick is so-so safe, but when up close, any normal should stuff whatever the ken does after a blocked step kick, he’s negative on block. So basically, if Ken is not within his max step kick range and does the step kick, he’s negative on block, so as Ryu, you can do a c.mk+FB and there’s not anything Ken can do about it but get pushed back. Just don’t get too obvious that you are going to stick out a normal after his step kick, because many Ken’s (especially with meter) will bait a normal after the step kick and counter-hit SRK you. It’s a simple frame trap, but a costly one if you stick your foot out there while Ken has meter after the step kick is blocked.
But you can’t just do a reversal special move either and expect to land if the Ken is smart, and most Ken’s stop abusing step kick a long time ago…Ken walks a little slower than ryu and doesn’t have the good FB, think of step kick as a tool for Ken to get close to you, essentially that’s what it is…I don’t know if trying to “punish” step kick is the way to go. Just be mindful of spacing and really, where Ken is relative to you, because once Ken gets in, he’s trying to kara throw you or get a knockdown…
I think Super come out in 2 frames. Lot of moves that are punishable by Super but not Srk irrelative to spacing.
For the Step Kick its -2 on block so you can hit a button on block and regain the initiative but have to be careful getting frame trap by srk like poster above
mentionned. You can also try to focus the Step kick if your opponent is too predictable with it.
Also Ken c.mk is -4 on block so he need to spaced it well not to eat a Reversal.
He cant really pressure you with c.mk xx fireball since you can focus throw the fb at point blank.
I think the best thing to do is block step kick patiently and learn exactly when the block stun end to stick out a well placed c.mk.
I know online it can be anoying where you block the step kick then get counter hit by Ken own c.mk.
Does anybody have a list of characters that Ryu can do Solar Plexus, c.mp, c.hpxxspecial to as opposed to sps to c.hp? I noticed that it works on Abel, but I’m not sure which of the other characters it works on.
Also, in frame data, a lot (maybe all) supers and ultras have values such as 1+2 in the startup frames. What does that mean? Is it 1 frame of super flash and 2 startup frames before the super comes out?
Anybody knows what the best fingers to use when in footsies mode with ryu.
I usually use my 4th finger for HP fireball and HP srk and Sweep. My index for c.mk.
I wondering is this the best way to do it. I notice When I use my index for Anti air I seem faster.
I am wondering if anyone is experiencing this problem on Xbox live.
For 3 days now everytime I play ranked game there is always the message
waiting for other players. Unless I have a secret admirer ( I doubt :)) I find it
stange. The bad part is the lag is terrible since this happen.
Any idea ?
