Awesome, thanks!

Cause Mr. Diddles is a beast!

What does SP stand for? Thanks.

What is Ryu’s standing roundhouse’s hitbox like? Is it reliable as anti-air?

Hey guys.

I’m new to SF4 and I’m having some issues with combos such as cLK, cLP, cHP, tatsu … I find the timing on the cHP to be difficult.

Can you advise me of some good simple combos to get me starts? Also combos I can do from crossups? Also any beginner tips?

Thanks!

Go to Ryu’s Trials and practice his specials and his BnB [Bread and Butters; regular combos like Cr. MP, Cr. MP, Cr. Roundhouse and cr. lp, cr.lk, st. lp, cr. roundhouse]. When you practice those over and over till you can do them consistently you work your way up. I hope this helps.

only combos you need imo are
cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.hp into tatsu or srk
mp, hp cancel into tatsu or srk
cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.lp, sweep
mp. mp, sweep

Btw don’t use forward hp srk as a punish unless u link something after the forward hp. Your best easy punish is st.hp then dp or if you want something a little easier cr.mp, cr.hp then dp.

Oh yea cr.lk, cr.lp into srk is always good to know.

Are there any strategies on how to deal with Seth? Should I be on him, or should I my defense get better? Im having trouble dealing with sonic boom->teleport/sonic boom->wall jump

Hey guys, I’ve been playing online alot recently to get experience since there’s no big scene over here, but I find it frustrating to play against others online. It seems that when I play online they don’t respect my options ie always jumping in on me. I know I have to change my playstyle to punish what they’re doing but people online aren’t stupid, it seems that once they know you’ll AA them they stop jumping in then get even more random and THEN start jumping in on you again. Also another big problem I have is avoiding tick throws and people always DPing out of my blockstrings. I just want to know how other fellow Ryu players handle this. Thanks in advance.

As far as blockstrings, only thing to tell you is work on the timing of them so that they don’t get a chance to recover from being in block stun.
If you know what they are going to do, then you gotta do something about it, or at least try to anticipate it. So if they are jumping alot and catch a few AAs, they’ll stop. If they start again, just AA some more. If you have an bars or ultra, complete the AA punish with an ex-fireball, super, or ultra (ultra 1).

If someone if mashing throw blockstring, just stop your blockstring to bait a reversal. They cant theoritically reverse throw a true block string of chained light attack but online it happen all the time. If your too predictable like always doing c.lp x2 then c.mk you may find people Reversing your c.mk all the time. Again just do nothing and block. Some players will do selective mashing at a certain junction in your string, you have to reconize where it is and stop there.

For AA, personnally I am just ready to Shoryuken at any given time since people jump a lot.
For teching you have to work on your timing and see patern at what junction in their string they usually throw although online lag prevent you to be accurate
when you want to do in on reaction.

cr.lp x2, cr.mk is not a true blockstring.

Hi everybody im new on sf i didnt understand how i can make for example a shoryuken -> fadc -> the ultra 1 if i do a fadc i dont have anytime for the ultra more are they some tricks or just i have to practise and practise? thanks in advance  sorry for my bad english im from turkey

A lot of the time we usually say this “Practice” but since you’re new to SFIV, might as well get used to the controls first. Make sure you are consistent in executing a fireball, shoryu or tatsu first because without those you might have trouble relying on your combos into specials.

Once you are sure that you are consistent on execution, try learning to consitently dash out of the focus attack, a lot of the times you will need this in order to execute FADC. you can also help yourself by practicing the ultra motion WHILE Ryu is dashing, try to get it right before attempting to the next step.

Next, try learning to FADC a shoryu and becoming consistent in it first before combining everything you have practiced so far.

Hence, Shoryu-FADC- THEN combine with Ultra motion while Ryu is dashing to execute

It takes time and practice to land it for sure but once you land it, it feels good…

GOOD LUCK!!! XP

Thanks Mate

What does SP stand for? I’ve seen it thrown around a few times.

SP or SPS is Solar Plexus Strike, F+MP. I think… :stuck_out_tongue:

F+FP is Solar plexus strike.

Balls, my bad! Long nights hurt my brain, I meant what he said! F+MP Is Collar Bone Breaker! :frowning:
