I’ve been working bit on a mod for Ryu. I’m probably going to do a major overhaul later on but right now I thought I’d share a couple shots of the tweaks I’ve done.
I can’t tell what you changed, other than the shape of his head/face.
He made his Gi longer in the legs an shoulder. Made his hair shorter as well.
less roids, look better imo. But perhaps not what the designers envisioned.
Dude thank you. Im a big fan of SF3 Ryu and pretty much the art direction of all SF3 games. Ikeno gave them more a cartoony look in SF4. Not really the size of te muscles, but the placement of them, made each character look like they had a hunchback.
Can I see a video of this in action. I’m liking his face better in the 2nd pic. It reminds me of that blog Dev Blog post where they showed Ryu in different modeling stages… and you saw there was one model that looked a lot like Ryu from the artwork.
Any more shots would be appreciated. I was waiting for someone to change his face around.

fistoftheryustar - yeah, i don’t understand why they didn’t go for almost any of those earlier versions. The Blanka in that same post looked much better too. I’m probably going to do a version that’s closer the standard SFIV style (like this one) and then have a larger project that makes him more how I like Ryu to look. That’ll take some time cause i’ll probably build a hipoly and bake a normal off of it, but is hould be a fun project.

also let me know when you update this. And anymore pics of the current model would be greatly appreciated. For example when he wins and does that right hook punch with his arm and the camera freezes, focusing on his face (as it gives you your rankings.) How does that look with this new mod?
make ryu fans happy and just make an st style ryu while you are at it.
big ish eyes, big bushy brows off the sides, same build, more hair but brown.
nah i really love that sf3 style. the sf2 style has been done to death in the PC mdos section. i can only think of 1 other sf3 mod attempt.

I take it this is for the PC version? pity my PC can’t run SF4 anywhere near decently
