not necessarily…you would have to figure if you’re opponent would roll (most ppl do but some might not) if he does you should already have released that shit by now hoping that it can be fast enough…even for akuma cuz there would have to be that one frame of delay from you’re opponent from getting frightened of the denjin just a little bit so you would have to release early (even before they get up)…another thing is you dont really have to cancel the srk or whatever into denjin you can just let the move go and throw a jab fireball xx denjin…charge…release…if you time the fireball right they would have to either block or parry…blockin they would have to red parry and parrying they might mess up due to the speed of the denjin (depending on the rate of charging) but overall SA3 is a nice meter to work with…builds fast (sort of like genei-jin but slower) and you can get a couple of Ex’s out without worrying over getting the super back because most likely a denjin ryu will be able to…unless you play differently like turtling so before ruling out the denjin just do your best on discovering set ups for it…anyway ryu is so flexible he has nice supers for certain situations EX: vs Yun (SA2) / vs Remy (SA3)/ vs Ken (SA1)…just train yourself to work with all of his supers so you wont have to worry about sticking to just one of them
Hm I forgot that sa1 was denjin
lol Duh where have you been lol its where its at :wow:
It’s like I’m swimming in a lake of geniuses.
Entire round for sure.
u can hit confirm f/hp into an ex sho or shin sho… i have no idea but i hit peeps on wake up all the time with it… usually when they try to parry low…
hit confirm early f/mp so it hits once u can do a c.mk into whatever u want… this is something i found a long time ago and it is very hard to do but it works and does big damage cuz they are crouching… works easier vs some characters than it would others… likes it works more on chun that it does on ken’s… guess the recovery is faster on shotos… early f/mp, c.mk, shin sho does insane damage u should practice this…
close s/mk link to sa1 works on crouching opponents…
not alot of hit confirms but he can do alot of blocked combos due to his ex’s… more of a pressure fighter…
Don’t for get short short super!
damn for reasons such as the ones posted IMO i think ryu should be moved up to top tier…who wants to run with me on this?..come on ryu can do many things he has nice supers for certain characters he has nice setups and strategies…he scares the shit out of people with a sudden EX fireball…but again there are soo many reasons why he should be moved up from upper middle to top tier…we need someone entering EVO and at least making top 8 with this character…we americans need to step it up and start expanding character wise…Shit lets get an american version of kuroda or hayao…or even KSK or Ruu goin in the U.S lol / but seriously Ryu should be moved up to top tier
Its still difficult to get that full stun with denjin. Plus, his shoryu isn’t that great, and he doesnt have a lot of hit confirm options, as opposed to ken who has a ton. Other than that, there just aren’t a whole lot of tricks to Ryu, and in order to deal the really big damage combos, you need to take some unnecessary risks. He just doesn’t really excel at anything in particular.
hmm interesting point…but the only thing i wouldnt agree on for sure is the full stun with denjin…normally with denjin a person would have to rush down in order to gain more stun in order to connect the denjin and go for major damage which is life threatening to the opponent…he doesnt necessarily need hit confirms (supers aside of course) cuz he has a low forward, he has a st. hp (connects to srk) i mean he works similar to ken the only difference is different ranges and different normals, and chain combos…so again dont count ryu out when it comes to playing other characters like ken or chun li …as for my previous post lol i was just being sarcastic 90% of the way lol
This doesn’t work at all. You mean meaty/ early F+MP on the opponent’s wake-up, into low MK? No.
SA1, on the other hand, works fine.
And yes, his SRK sucks. It has much less range than Ken’s (and probably Akuma’s and even Sean’s), gets more air without doing more damage (and stun?), and hits only once, unless you use meter for an EX. They’ve “always” hit only once, so at least it could’ve done more damage and stun…
I think meaty UOH into SRK should be abused, though, as the SRK won’t come out if the UOH is blocked or parried.
I dont count ryu out at all. Just pointing out what keeps him from top tier. Ryu can compete better than most characters. Plus he’s really fun.
Is ther a trick to this so that the srk doesn’t come out on block or parry? Or do you just do the motions and for whatever reason the srk doesn’t come out? Or are you talking about hit confirming?
Also, I’ve been having touble with Denjin Ryu. My main setup is is knockdown, close forward or close fierce, srk xx SAIII. The problem is now that I’ve abused it, my friend has started parrying it. What other wake up options does Ryu have? I was thinking low forward into srk xx SAIII, or into ex hurricane. Throw’s always a good pick. Any other ideas?
As I’ve understood, you’ll stay in the air for a little longer if the UOH gets blocked or parried, making it impossible to cancel into anything. I could be wrong, but I think it’s correct.
Since he’s using what he knows about you against you, you should do the same, and maybe throw him once or twice, then go for a low MK->SRK->SA3.
I take it you meant he parries the first hit (close HP/ MK), right?..
I don’t see any point in going for an EX hurricane instead of a Denjin set-up. I think this move is best used by itself, since you’re open to retaliation after a low MK/ whatever, if they parry.
Other ideas?.. meaty low LK, SRK, Denjin. Hopefully SRK will come out fast enough, but I think they have plenty of time to throw you before you’ve recovered from the low LK. Otherwise, you could practice meaty UOH->SRK->Denjin, on their wake-up.
cr.lk, st.mp, hado xx Denjin
st.mk, st.mp, hado xx Denjin
UOH, st.mp/cr.mp, hado xx Denjin
im assuming that you have to block these…cuz of course these wont connect but…another setup (blocking opponent) would be jump in mk…st.lp,st.mp, hado XX denjin…or if you have enough stun on the opponent…dash in hp, feirce srk xx denjin (rotate as much as you can)
Is there a way to 70% someone with denjin…
Jump in combo (knockdown), denjin (stunned), Jump in combo. Or do you mean with just denjin and something else? Ryu’s really strong but it kinda comes down to who he’s fighting.
Is not that Ken has more hit confirms than Ryu, is that Ken SA3 can punish almost anything blocked, hit, etc.
Also Ryu corner game > Ken since Ryu has a kara-throw
I know for a fact that this works. I’ve seen it in matches many times. I’m positive it’s shown on one of the tutorial vids on youtube too, but I haven’t found it yet. I’ll post it if I find it.
