perhaps this is a silly question but what is the differences between chain and link?

do you use arcade stick? or pad?

i don’t have arcade stick, i use pad so if you use standard dual shock pad it is kinda hard pressing the hk as it is not just a button, its more like a pedal so sometimes it throws me off.

it is the same timing as like when you press lp button, if you mash the button it will not work

Chain is a normal move that cancels into itself.

Link is a combo where no moves are canceled, the first just ends quickly enough and the second starts fast enough that they will combo.

lp, lp, lp 3 hit combo is a chain

mp, mp 2 hit combo is a link.

You can also link jabs instead of chaining them. Just to be complete. It’s only a chain if you hit the jabs fast enough.

Okay, so I just got back from my LAN center today, guys, after playing Gen & Ryu for an hour-ish. In the Championship I been using Gen in, I switched to Ryu cause he had a Zangief avatar + title (can you blame me xD?! haha), and it turned out to be a Sakura, go figuire.

Normal Sakura player that doesn’t know how to use Sakura, right, but got me once match (I was rusty, playing lazy/crappy-ish/and it was on THE 360 CONTROLLER horror movie scream). Sliver of health each, I jumped in at Sakura and tried to Ultra, but almost as I hit the ground, SHE ultra’d DIRECTLY in front of me. Thought I was screwed, but I panic-ultra’d for the win!..but wait, where’s the ultra? A light kick Tatsumaki came out, flew OVER her ultra (it hit’s low! and I guess there’s some start-up time too?), hit her on the back of the head and won me the championship.

Light Kick Tatsumaki > Sakura’s Ultra (in front of eachother’s face)

This means:

  • no guessing strength of SRK, and HP SRK being really laggy, light not enough invincibility? and medium leaving you at no real advantage.
  • avoids shave damage
  • can mash it out (through online lag) no questions asked.

Does Ryu have any known option selects?

Found a nice little trick to use if you have the opponent in the corner. This might have already been said before though. If you hit them with a lk tatsu or hk/mk from near max range you can ex srk - fadc - ultra. I know it’s not very practical but I guarantee there will be some time when you hit someone with a hk tatsu from that distance, and if you have the meters to pull it off and to finish the match you might as well use it.

Well you also got cro forward-Hadoken confirm I try to pay attention to see when the forward connects and then if it does great… Hadoken-Shinku. If it’s block then your still safe…if you have them in the corner I guess…but don’t be predictable cause free focus whatever most of the time. Also does anyone ever have a hard time fighting Rufus? I know I do most of the time, been improving little by little…I guess I need to practice more.

Yea. This also works with an air tatsu.

Hey I just found out a new way to land ryu’s ultra out of the corner with standing close mk into ex hado to ultra.
For some strange reason the hit stun of the close mk lifts the opponent a little off the ground and lets the ultra land without having to fadc the only problem is that the timing is a little tight and the ultra only hits 7 times.
I’ve tested against boxer, blanca and ryu and it always misses the last hit of the ultra.

Also works in combos like fa forward hp mk ex hado ultra

it will alway miss the last hit againt everyone if you did ex hadou to ultra as you can only have certain amout of numbers limited on the hadou type juggle, so if you did srk, super (5 hits) followed by ultra, your ultra will on hit 3 times max

if you do srk, ex hadou, ultra i think the ultra will only hit 6 times

I found another meter wasting combo, haha. If you srk fadc someone midscreen from point blank range you can hit ex fireball, then ex tatsu. I know most of you don’t care about these combos but I love busting out meter wasters in casuals. :slight_smile:

hey guys, i haven’t had a chance to test this yet but do you guys know off top of your head who you can connect f+hp, c.strong, c.hp? it whiffs on ryu in the corner for sure.

random tip. be wary of doing RH hurricane if you are near corner because you’ll cross them up and they can quick getup to keep you in the corner. :frowning:

ryu’s s.strong beats ken’s f+forward, but option select a special cause sometimes it’ll come out as close strong. dp/fireball/hurricane whatever you want.

j.short crossup is sick.

safejumps / option select safejump+dp is sick.

stop forgeting about j.strong to break focus.

you have 4 meters no ultra and your oponment have like 330 life
if you lp shoryu and then confirm ultra you take a risk if he protect but if you hp shoryu fadc no risk.

then if you just ex tatsu you will not kill him but with this combo you will. so it s not a waste of meters however instead of betting shoryu the best should be to keep the super and take some space as there is so many way to confirm super.

but if you can t handle the pressur and need some room with a shoryu fadc this can make you win.

if you make it well ex tatsu should touch 3 hit

in the corner I didn t knew about ryu not being touch. are you sure? I was thinking that in the corner it was working on every one.

did you do it on the max health?

this combo is nice as well too. specially if u read someone well jhp cmp cho tatsu. its 334dmg and 600 stun.
