There’s also the concept of jump-cancelling a special move. Daigo might be using the tiger knee motion for the EX Tatsu, which would give the move an unthrowable property. The start-up frames for a jump are unthrowable, so canceling those frames with a special move would keep that property and make it useful for baiting throws. It’s like when Zangief players push up before they hit PPP/KKK.
TKing tatsus was discussed here half an year or so ago and (to my knowledge) noone could confirm that it works. With the correct timing one doesn’t need it, either.

i don’t know why, but i haven’t seen people combo into ex tatsu in the corner. people still do dp fadc ultra and it does less damage and uses more meter
however distance and character matters a lot as ex tatsu will not fully combo if you are too far but if you know your spacing well, you’ll do fine. (CCCCCCC COMBO BREAKERRRR)
also something else a friend of mine taught me yesterday that i always knew but never really applied is that your hitbox is thicker when you are crouching (which is why you have to block certain things standing rather than crouching to punish)
while playing footsies, stuff that WHIFFS while you stand will hit while you crouch, so practice your distancing well and punish those whiffs!

Daigo does that a lot. He even uses it to bait. If the opp pokes him at max range while he is crouching, after the push back he would walk forward and STAND in the exact same spot inviting a poke, then a whiff punish follows.
I just saw something new. Dunno if others have, but Sagat was doing a focus attack as I was coming down with a crossup tatsu. The tatsu hit him twice and broke the focus. The first was a perfect crossup, right on top of the head, then ryu’s leg swung around and got him a second time.
air tatsu doesn’t armor break, so isn’t that expected? Maybe it’s easier to make it happen with Sagat’s massive hit box?
K; been thinking about this for a while now and I still can’t figure it out. How do you take advantage of the c.lk > c/lk + DP option select… for those who dont know, this basically means that if you do one c.lk and follow it with another c.lk + a fierce DP, te c.lk will come out if its a chain and the DP will come out if it whiffs. I was thinkin the idea here was to catch reversal mashers with the option for the DP, but that doesnt seem to work. Am I doing something wrong? How do you take advantage of this option select?
Not sure. I think the foot usually whiffs when that get’s focused. I doubt it’d hit all characters like that.
It’s kinda useful against slow reversals (think bison) and backdash because of the 9 frames recovery of the cr.lk.
The first cr.lk should be as meaty as possible. And you press the second lk before the punch button for the dp. If the first cr.lk connects, it is canceled by the second one and the DP will not appear cause chained light attacks can’t be canceled into specials. On the other hand if the first cr.lk whiffs you cannot cancel it and the DP will execute immediately after the recovery frames of the initial cr.lk
mmm, not sure what you meant by chained light attacks can’t be cancelled into specials, but c.lk,c.lp, srk works or c.lp, c.lp, srk works also
If you link the jabs a srk can be cancelled. If you chain the jabs the srk has to be linked, it won’t cancel. It’s the same with Balrog.

Guys i need help wth the Fuerte matchup. What can i really do on wakeup is it really just guessing right? Cheapocresp from Miami has a sick fuerte that i cant touch the second i get knocked down. Please respond with kindness
if u know hes going to body splash you u can do FA on him or just back dash.
I ran into that fuerte online. He’s pretty ridiculous. You know the fuerte basics, right? He’s basically going to do one of three things as you get up. He’ll body splash, do the throw, or the slide. If you think he’s going to splash, FA or block it. Not sure of any good punishes, but you can sweep pretty easily off a blocked body splash. If you think he’s going to do the throw, wakeup backdash. The throw will whiff and he’ll land right in front of you to be punished. For the slide, FA/block again, but a good fuerte will usually be safe after this option, or even have frame advantage, depending on spacing(right? correct me if I’m wrong on this one). Fuerte’s wakeup game is weak, so if you guess right once, make sure you knock him down, and start his own type of shenanigans. Don’t let him wake up for free…make him guess, too.
If you ever get him cornered, watch for fuerte’s ex dp. They’ll use it to try and get out of the corner, but you can punish it if you’re quick.
anyone else find it hard to do the c.lp, c.lp, c.lp -> c.hk or c.lp, c.lp, c.mp -> c.hk? cuz daigo and the other guys seem to have no problem doing it…
the clp x3 > chk you either have chain it, or link it.
the clp cmp chk is a link.
is clpx3 cmk xx hado a link between the last lp and mk? any suggestions for timing it well?
this option select is not very ussefull…
it happen only if first lk wiff so basically '
if opponment wake up with back dash,
if opponment wake up with slow move that will avoid lk (ex move ).
problem is that( i speak only for arcade character)
if they back dash you have to be very close if not shoryu will wiff .
basically cr lk, crlk+hk( option select sweep) is better . he will give you a better oki, and never wiff the back dash.
about ex move, problem is that except viper ex and el fuerter ex kick grab( shoryuken motion with kick) there is no really other move that this option select will beat.
and since both fuerte and viper have option that win clearly against the first cr lk( viper quarter back hp or worst ultra and fuerte ex run) you take some risk risk.
I stoped using hit except some time against viper . after a jump in, i will do cr lk cr lk cr lk with 2 option select shoryu it s quiet safe and if they spam ex flaming kick to escape or flaming kick to avoid a throw then shoryu will appear.
about air tatsu , yes again sagat if you start hight you can touch him in front and then in the back. that because there is 2 hit that the FA get knocked. if after that you link a super it s like 500 of domage …
