how do u link the lp into srk. yeah it easy but it happens sometimes that i do standing something instead of srk. so my question is what the is the best input (df,df HP/ f,d,df HP?)
@Doopliss . the timing has to be exact, means you have to practice the time repeatly. overhead is only +3 on hit which means the 3 frames are hard to link ( options: cr. lp < srk )
Treat the SRK as a linked normal. c.lp gives you +5 on hit and all of Ryu’s SRKs come out in 3 frames, so you have a nice window to do it AND you also have the leniency of SF4’s system to help you link it. The reason why a standing attack (usually s.lp or s.lk) is coming out is because you’re pressing the button too early and instead of the SRK coming out, you’re just chaining another lp/lk.
The best way to practice the timing to just set the training dummy to random guard. From there, do c.lp x 2 or c.lk, c.lp, confirm the hits, then SRK.
As for the input question, use whatever feels better to you. I prefer the traditional motion.
Does it work with all characters? Because when I tried on Ken, he was always too far away for the c.LP to hit him. The one I succeeded on was Dan, I believe. I really like this combo, it’s makes Ryus vs. wake-up game a little more dangerous for some characters

Does anyone know how exactly wake ups work?
For example, how many fames a character is on the ground for if they quick up and if they don’t, and if all characters are the same?
Does a character transition from no hitbox on the ground to standing and fully functional instantly, and at what point are commands accepted?
Also, are startup animations skipped when a character “gets up” with a move, such as Ken getting up with a SRK or Rufus with an ex messiah kick?
Finally, how do you guys time pressure tactics such as safe jumps? And can the same principle be used with things like Ryu’s overhead. cr. LP, and cr. MK?

on hit does anyone try c.lp, c.lp, c.hp, hp srk? or is it just better to stand them up with the c.hp into a tatsu? The only reason i ask is because my execution on trying to get the tatsu out is pretty bad so i am unaware of the damage difference.
I think the cr. hp might push them too far away for SRK. In my experience whenever I miss the hurricane, it’s because I try to cancel the cr. hp too early. I hope that helps.
c.lp, c.lp, c.hp - Hk tatsu is best. if your going for srk then drop the c.hp. you cant link 4 hits into srk. (if you can than im pretty sure its char specific) but why get fancy when you can get damage. (for every link you add, your risking a chance to miss more damage opportunity, stick to basics, stick to bnb)
unless your SICK at your links, go for it. more damage the better. me on the other hand, i just tend to get the job done w/o any further risks.
p.s. cr. HP into HK tatsu is hard for you, you can always go cr. HP - fireball/ex fireball.

Well the reason I keep missing the hurricane is because I fail at canceling the c.hp this is most likely because I am still holding down if I sat there and practiced for about 20 minutes I am sure I could end it with that, I usually just end up standing there, and most of the time when I try to do c.lp, c.lp. c.hp, hp srk it usually comes out as c.lp, c.lp, hp srk lol. But if I do the short cut for SRK I sometimes get the c.hp to come out and cancel into the hp srk, so it just got me curious if it was just lacking in damage or if it was just so unsafe that no one bothered with it. But yeah it seems that ending with the fireball on block is safer because if that c.hp is blocked than lol is it laggy.
Most powerful Ryu Combo
Hi; just found an awesome combo today. It deals out about 80% damage. Basically, its: any combo that finishes with a fireball leaving a distance of c.mk, FADC the FB, then any combo finishing with fierce DP, ultra.I’ve got it up to 17 hits (and it doesnt need to be in corner) and practically kills opponent outright. Just wondering if any knows of a more powerful combo.

I don’t think there is a single combo in the entire game that does 80%, that would mean doing a combo that does ~800 damage, unless you’re doing the combo on Seth.
If you really did find a combo that did 800 damage, why wouldn’t you post it, instead of “any combo that finishes with a fireball leaving a distance of c.mk, FADC the FB, then any combo finishing with fierce DP, ultra”. At this end of your “combo” the ultra would be seriously scaled, I can see maybe ~500 damage.
If you want a combo that does a lot of damage, just ask, don’t disguise it in some shitty post.

I was insulting because your post brings nothing to this thread, its just some elitist dick waving post about how you discovered “an awesome combo today” that does 80% damage, and then proceed to type out some vague description of it. The post I just quoted above reeks of your attempts to show everyone on srk how giant your e-peen is. If you read my post, you can see I didn’t make mention of 17 hits anywhere in my post. In fact, the number 17 appears 0 times in my post. What I called bullshit on, is on a single combo that does 80% damage, the fact that you listed the combo as ‘any combo…followed by any combo that ends in blahblahblah’ and the fact that your post was SHIT.
The combo you just posted requires you to have your opponent cornered, 50% super meter and ultra meter stocked, it also requires you to land a FA and a tricky one frame link between f+hp -> c.mp. Making for one hell of a situational combo. Wait, does it have to be a crouching gief, too? No, you said it does 80% on Ryu.

I tried your combo multiple times and every time going from fa2/3 -> f+hp -> c.mp -> c.hp makes c.hp whiff. Then I tried minus the fa -> f+hp, so just doing c.mp -> c.fp -> ex tatsu sometimes makes tatsu whiff a hit and leaves your opponent standing right next to you while youre recovering from your tatsu and sometimes the tatsu won’t combo all of its hits, allowing the opponent to block mid tatsu. But ill give you the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to my timing :rolleyes:. fa3 -> f+hp -> c.mp does 285 damage, if I could get the c.hp to hit it would do around 340 total, Ex tatsu -> ex fb -> ultra alone does 518 damage on ryu. So you’re telling me after you scale the combo down IMMENSELY with fa -> f+hp -> c.mp -> c.hp, those meter hoggers are going to magically make the combo do another 500 damage with damage scaling?
Post a video of this miracle combo PLEASE, and ill eat my words.
edit: In case you meant c.lp instead of c.mp, which does make the combo work, it only does 525 damage. BUT DO GO ON AND POST YOUR VID, DO GO ON.

I just did it again this morning (modified) and, whilst not as powerful as yesterday, got 680 off it, which is a darn sight more than your 500 bullshit (500 is a small time combo in SF4, a basic combo/ DP/FADC/ Ultra does that much).
The reason I put another combo in there - which bore no relation, as you pointed out, to my earlier one - is because the person following you stated that there are no 17-hit combos. To illustrate my point, I therefore suggested an easy 17-hitter (and this also does more than your 500 guess). Not everything in my response is intended to be a response to yourself (the fact that you think it is surely suggests ego).
You really need to stop being so arrogant. Everyone comes on here because they dont know EVERYTHING about SF4. Therefore, if someone sugests something, you ought to listen. If they are wrong, politely correct them. This is really just basic etiquette.
