Probably so. I wanted to point out that ComboFiend made a point to be creative with EX SRK xx FADC xx whatever. It could lead to some fun possibilities. I haven’t heard anyone mention that tech before. I understand that you wanna use meter economically as well, which is important. I think the combo I’m proposing could carry an “intimidation factor” because using it in a match could potentially put people on an apprehensive state after the combo because it is a new tool and seemingly complex. But like I mentioned I definitely see where you’re coming from as well.
But in general, I’d say that the changes for him are most exciting I’ve ever seen. When I get home, i’m gonna try EX SRK FADC xx j. mp, j. mp, TSK. Could work!
The EX DP into full ultra is worth it on a jump in punish… If anyone throws a bad fireball or messes up an AA: J.fierce c.fierce ex shoryuken FADC ultra 2… The match is 2/3 over if not already over…
update
For anyone who doesn’t know the timing for delayed wake up, you have to press two buttons right before you hit the floor from the hard knockdown move. Sweeps are a bitch to DWU…
Hey guys. What has everybody made of USF4? Dual ultra seems to be fun, but I’m struggling to find a real purpose for it. Ryu seems pretty much the same, with Red Focus and DWU slightly benefiting him, in my opinion.
DWU hurts Ryu just as much as it helps. In certain MU’s when Ryu is behind and needs damage, he can no longer free safe jump OS or safe empty jump ect for mix ups.
W ultra is one of the best things for Ryu, but that’s my opinion. It lets you ultra jump ins or blow away fire ball games at the same time while letting you keep you meter. I feel that its so good, he should be 60% tier because of all the options he shuts down. Combine that with EX hadoken in footsies and EX tatsu crouch tech blow up and you have a pretty dangerous character in neutral…
Off hand, I’ve been using RF in block strings and after DWU instead of DP, its been serving me well.
This is from the guy who made a 7 minute video on throws. I’d have figured you of all people to appreciate a better understanding of a mechanic in the game. Either way, you are right, just mash. I put the info out there for 1. People who don’t want to mash. 2. Consistency (if you don’t know why your DWU wasn’t coming you during your mash).
I want to test and see if there is a second window for DWU, but I doubt it though, sweeps are a bitch to DWU even with mashing…
If you wanna be a dick, I can take it to that level. You know very well that DPs and reversals are well known and that knowledge can be found easily as opposed to the proper timing to DWU which is less than two weeks available. I respect you and what you have contributed to the community so I’ll leave it at that unless you feel like taking more shots at me…
All I’m saying is that there’s no value in trying to figure out the timing for DWU. The only interesting stuff behind it would be maybe finding out if it works with neg. edge so that people can’t hear your inputs offline, but even so you can still fake it out using dead buttons. Like most of the defensive options in this game, it’s a scrub-friendly mechanic.
But hey, if you think knowing the differences in timing for DWU between 40+ characters sweeps is worth knowing, go right ahead and document it.
The value is in knowing why your DWU didn’t activate when you’re salty after fighting that vortex character with the unblockable setup.
The however many sweeps in the game there are don’t matter because your character goes straight to the floor so the timing is basically right after they hit you for all sweeps. Whether you believe it or not, mashing is less reliable than proper timing. Some players rely on proper timing over mashing. If that’s not your thing, fine, but let people who give a shit, give a shit. You point out scrub-friendly but seem to want to embrace rather than ascend. Fine with me, but the web site is for knowledge, not bickering.
Dont think illitrit original message was meant as any kind of disrespect. I think he genuilly beleives mashing may be the most reliable way to get DWU after a sweep.
Yeah honestly the timing is super weird for after some throws and other hard knockdown moves that arent sweeps.
I just started mashing after a while, like ilitirit said i dont think its worth trying to memorize all the timings.
Hey what’s up guys? I’m still relatively new here. I’m from the DOA (also the MK, & VF) community & relatively an offline player I’ve been practicing the core mechanics of the game & learning in general with Ryu. I actually enjoy him in general. I’m still having a little bit of trouble finding combos due to having issues linking together combos although I’ve been watching the tutorials & other dojo videos. I’m still looking through them. I just need someone to explain or help me understand how to link them a tad better if you don’t mind. Thank you in advance & hope to meet you guys offline in an event or casual session soon.
I cant seem to find a ryu frame trap video on youtube. there are lots of other for cammy, fei, sagat etc. does anyone got a list or doc of ryu frame traps? also, delayed wake up
I’m pretty unskilled with my throw game and frame traps, not something I’ve really honed in on yet. I also couldn’t find any videos that exclusively examine some of Ryu’s better used frame traps, mostly just videos trying to examine frame traps as a technique.
However, I did find this thread on Reddit that gives a few frame traps and set ups : redd.it/24wr3d
Hopefully that helps, if you do come across a better resource post it here, I’d be interested in seeing it.
Can someone update the combos for USF4? Also, in the first post what does SPS mean?
I’m trying to learn Ryu and there are so many different places where combos are posted. I’m just trying to find one good place that has what I need. Also looking for the same thing for Juri, Akuma, Oni and Ken. I’m trying to figure out which character to play.
As for combos, Ryu’s stuff is simple. Learn how to combo into sweep and srk and you can beat people. You can try searching my posts. I posted the 8 or 10 combos I used for some one a while back. You can combo all kinds of stuff with Ryu, but if you just learn his links it’s easy to see what’s worth using. You’ll see that fadc combo dont get you the damage you get from a lot of other characters, unless you have them cornered. And you’ll also see that your super is great. Why use meter to get 50 more damage when you can take away options with super later on.
