Permission granted.
Sagat would get raped badly by Gen and probably lose to Gouken if you go by the story, though, so your reasoning isn’t really valid.
Sagat getting buffed could mean as little as his ultra now connecting the last few hits in the corner. Depending on how well they buff the rest of the cast, he probably is going to need that.
They say he got buffs, but they didn’t say that he didn’t get nerfs.
The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.
Maybe Sagat’s jabs give him a little more frame advantage now or his ultra fully connects, but he doesn’t get his godly standing RH anymore.
We don’t know, as of yet. It’s still an unknown unknown.
“The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence.”
I’ve been trying to remember that statement for the longest time. Thank you!
Actually Seth said “Sagat got BETTER”.
That would not preclude nerfs, but it does certainly indicate that SSF4 Sagat > Sf4 Sagat.
SSF4 Sagat > Sf4 Sagat.
oh dear
LOL, Boondocks FTW. I’d rep you if I could.
I really didn’t mind Sagat getting a boost after he said every character would. I mean… I’d honestly rather every character be brought up to par with Ryu and Sagat than to nerf them. I sincerely hope that Ryu gets his Joudan Sokutou Geri. EX JSG was such a phenomenal move in 3s.
I like that move too. It’s just that… he’s gonna get yet another ultra juggle :wow:
Unless, of course, they balance it to where he can’t juggle off of it. But hey, if Sagat and the rest of the cast are getting a buff, then one more Ultra setup for Ryu wouldn’t hurt, either. More moves, more options, more combo setups… I’m all for it. It can really add on to the liveliness of the game. As long as it doesn’t turn into pure visual diarrhea (Marvel) and retains the solid, easy to pick up/hard to master gameplay, it’s all good. Now we just need some crazier stages.
P.S. - I am a fan of Marvel. I’m just making allusions to how flashy and seizure-inducing it can be. Don’t hate.
THIS!!! fuckin THIS~~~@!@!!!@
Actually, that quote is taken from a famous scene in Pulp Fiction which is then somewhat recreated in Boondocks. It’s a great movie, you should check it out.
Since Seth said everyone is getting better, there’s one thing I’d really like to see for Ryu above all else:
f+mk from Alpha
Hop kick is godlike.
Lol I’d say you should check it out too. None of what Basura said is in Pulp Fiction. His reference, like the one in Boondocks, is from Sec. of Defense Donald Rumsfeld about the invasion of Iraq and possibility of WMD’s.
Anyway, I know I can’t be the only one that was disappointed to hear Killian’s comments about Sagat and “everyone” being buffed. Sure, players that main Sagat, Ryu, Boxer, etc. the top tiers are the ones crying for “NO NERFS! Just make everyone else better!” and this sounds like a good plan in theory. But I think this is a case were less (taking away from strongest characters) is more. The reality of the situation is that “buffing everyone” will result in two possible scenarios:
Everyone receiving equal buffs. This means the top tier characters remain OP and possibly even become broken.
Giving everyone huge buffs (which is really what would have to happen to bring the Vegas and Elfs into balance w/ the top tier) which results in a clusterfuck mess where “everyone” is superpowered, has instant reversals, can cancel into their ultra, etc. This not only TAKES AWAY from the game by making it even more reliant on one-trick-pony techniques but also reduces characters’ unique strategies, strengths, weaknesses, etc.
The solution to a design flaw is not to make that same flaw homogeneous across the cast!
DJ already has 2 EX moves that can combo into Ultra, would it really be that bad if Ryu also received the same thing? Umm wait, just forget I asked that since I know what the response will be.
Anyways with the return of wall bouncing it does look like the Joudan kick may return with the EX version having the wall bouncing juggle properties.
I think you should take Seth’s comments with a grain of salt. He isn’t going to say, “Sagat got nerfed…probably F Tier now.” Based on feedback and other things, I’m sure Capcom sees some things they would like to do differently with some characters and whether one would call said changes a buff or nerf is based upon how you view the changes. I’ve seen this in games before where a change takes away one thing, but opens up something else. Just have to wait and see.
No, it wouldnt be that bad.
Y’know, just as long as DeeJay also gets lockdown zoning w/ his fireball/antiair game, ridiculous footsies, best anti-air in the game, fantastic normals, fast overhead, can combo sweep from everything including jab, 3 frame jab, 2 other 3 frame normals which all leave at + frames on block, no less than 5 easy ways to combo into ultra, 3 frame super that leaves + 11 on BLOCK, can FADC his moves to be safe, great crossups, safe and damaging ex moves that lead to ultra, great throw range, good walk and dash speed, runaway move to get out of corners not that you’d even need it, etc.
Or maybe other characters have equally useful options that give similar damage output. What’s wrong with a scenario where everyone is good, and everyone has options that work?
How does Vega’s Backflip having some I. Frames like a SRK take away from the game? What’s wrong with speeding up Dan’s normals to make him a bit more viable?
Most of the reasons that lower tiers are lower is that they can’t deal with a specific set of situations, or have a lower damage output for the amount of opportunities they’re expected to get.
That said, just giving characters tools to deal with the situations they have trouble in or the damage output they need to be even against the top tier doesn’t automatically make them Ryu clones.
Vega’s flips do have i frames.
It’s their horrid recovery and long animations that make them shit.
And lol if you people seriously think Sagat got major buffs. They probably just fixed his ultra glitches.
