Sorry if I worded it terribly but what I meant is to be able to close the distance on your opponent and at least be able to block they’re counter attack if they blocked yours. So I’m not saying the move has to give you frame advantage either. Oh and Ryu’s Tatsu can be ducked under and his air tatsu can easily be anti aired. The moves I’m talking about are very close to footsie range and normally can’t be punished on reaction.
As for other characters, I think these moves fit the bill. Of course not every version is safe and only a certain version at a certain distance would be safe
Chun has that overhead kick
Ken has the step kick
Abel has change of direction and wheel kick from a certain distance
Dan’s light hop kick
Bison’s Scissor kick
etc.
If I’m wrong about some of the stuff mentioned then I’m sorry, these were just off the top of my head based off experience playing against these characters. Anyways, I’m just saying maybe his 3rd Strike kick could be made safe, at least from a certain range.
Ryu doesn’t need anything, he’s pretty much considered the standard for balance. Wanting him to have something like Ken’s step kick is just being greedy.
what about just, walk up c.mk into hadou? isn’t that pretty much safe, fast, hard to deal with on reaction, etc? even hits low and is fadc-able into big damage! and it breaks armor because it’s two hits.
ryu has a pretty good walk speed and c.mk has crazy range; it doesn’t have to be a special move to help control space so you can move forward and apply pressure.

ok of the things i originally posted maybe air hadoken is a little over the TOP, ok thats cool so lets compromise, give ultra the same frame start up and air speed travel that his super hadou does, so that lets us combo it from things like cr.mk etc etc. I mean honestly, if its suppsed to be an ULTRA hadou, more powerful than the super, then why the hell is it weaker??
one more thing, why doesn’t his overhead combo into anything? thats just dumb.
k, cos ive been getting negative feedbak from u guys, here’s one that’ll make u all happy. increase the rate of super bar builds up for EVERYBODY. its kinda too slow atm. cant really build up a full bar in one round, unless ur a scrub and just spamming hadous or srk or some crap. so yeah, faster super bar = better gameplay
so update my list with:
ultra hadou no longer castable in the air, however frame start up reduced and travel speed increased
LOL@ all the buffs people want for Ryu, wow. One person even suggested giving him an air fb. He is already top-tier. Giving him anymore buffs will just break Super SF4. We already have enough Ryu players online, we don’t need more. :looney:
Rogs over head is much easier to react to. Plus, just because one character has something it doesn’t mean it’s ok for another to have the same thing. Ryu is fine how he is, bro.
Ryu really doesn’t need anything. Giving him the Power Kick from 3S would simply give him something alot of lower tier characters have, a useless move. Exception being giving it start up invincibility or 1 hit armor on EX.
What Ryu needs is removing removing trade > ultra and his SRK being made inferior to Ken’s
