nevermind about that, ive tested it when playing against a rog (just got my copy) and the second hit trades with the ex rush punch, and both chars get knocked. Damage wise, i think rog have the advantage with the trade. At least for ryu, rog wasted a ex bar.
It’s funny how people need to see some top player winning with Ryu to actually believe he’s good and viable in tournaments.
He was more overpowered in vanilla, there’s no point in discussing that. Now you just have to think and plan your moves more strategically.
If you guys think that the character is boring now, or some of the new characters fits better into your playstyle, go ahead and main someone else. But if anyone is changing his main because some top player doesn’t main Ryu anymore… wow, that’s pretty sad.
You’ve got to be kidding me! What DP did you use MP/HP? One of the “benefits” of ryu’s new 2 hit dp was the fact it could be used to break armour attacks (well thats what we hoped for). If this doesnt work reliably then were gonna have to stick to c.mk into dp.
Lol I never said anyone should base theor main on the top players of the game. My point was that daigo is a ryu expert and knows the in and out of the character better then anyone. I am still maining ryu and winning it’s just alot harder and more Mach ups feel like they are not in his favor. We all use this forum to gleam an better understanding of our char of choice who better to learn from then the pro’s?
I agree that winning with Ryu is harder now and it does seem like they’re not in his favor. I feel Ryu was significantly nerfed, in comparison to the other characters, such as Akuma, Ken, Rog, Bison, and Guile. Ryu was my main character in Vanilla, but now I’m liking Ken more. I tried what most of the Ryu players are doing–testing Cody. But I’m still not happy with Cody. I’m finding myself struggling to find a new main. Am I, a frustrated Ryu player, alone? I guess I’ll just have to wait for MvsC3…LOL…
Suck it up and learn to play the game without relying on bullshit from vanilla. There’s your advice.
I guarantee you Ryu is still amazing. He had layer upon layer of untapped potential even before, but people could get by barely scratching the surface because he was really THAT good.
qft.
There are still things ppl don’t realize about ryu…
Yeah man, i seldom play ryu, but pick him up lately. I managed to dizzy a few people, by his rush down attack…
He can do so many things, and with ease… So he is still strong, learn to play him…
I main Gouken, i live with it for so long without a Shoryuken… Is a matter of adapting, use his strength, not focus on his weakness.
First off I wasn’t asking for advice I was making a statement. Like I said previosly I regularly enter touremants maining ryu in the past and generally do very well, so I would say I have a fair grasp on how to play the game…now it comes down to adapting to the new limitations capcom have placed on him. You mention not being able to use bs from vanilla like he was sagat on god tier, what ever dude you can think what you want and I will do the same.
Well, Ryu was neft for the good of SF game community as a whole… Capcom tried to make all characters closer, rather than one is God tier the other is a junk…
U will feel good when you win now, rather than like in Vanila, u win becos u are using Sagat etc and not abt your skill…
I dont see how Ryu has changed. I’ve only used him sparingly in super and not against the whole cast but I dont see a difference. Seems to me his DP trades with the same stuff it did in SFIV. He may not be better than before but how can you say he’s worse? Was Daigo interviewed? Can someone link me to it?
