against who . at what level?
last time I check ryu had mostly 5-5 match up…
against honda, yes, against sagat, no against dalshim, no.
against chun li rufus boxer blanka etc etc etc it s quite faire.
against claw? claw is the one having a problem…not ryu.
ryu is easy to pick, easy to start because shoryu is a good reversal and a mid level will save you when you spam it during some link etc etc.
but being strong with ryu will ask you a lot of work just like other character; may be in some case more because you can t rely on some trick and vortex and you really can t count on people not knowing this match up.
any way i m still waiting for some no name guy having good result in a tournament with ryu… so easy so powerfullm, us ryu player must all suck are we are not able to make any result even with this easy win character…
yes…lol but I’m pretty disappointed in how much ryu got nerfed even though he was pretty balanced to begin with. I would rather have a less damaging dp like sagat, then have a weak dp that lost a lot of priority and trades or gets beaten clean a lot. I don’t think it will be a reliable AA anymore and if that’s true it will change things a lot for ryu. I’m thinking of using ken and akuma more now lol they will probably be more reliable
dan’s motions are easy to pull off but dan isn’t easy to use per se. He has a lot of holes in his game and doesn’t have many options which means you have to be far more aware with him than with someone like Ryu.
by definition that makes him harder to use…

Yet to be fully tested, but if it’s as fast as it seems, it might make Ryu dangerous to jump in on and on wakeup if he has that Ultra. Also I wonder if it is able to punish blocked sweeps especially Guile’s double sweep. I think the trade off is a weaker corner pressure compared to U1. With U1, any landed special (lp srk, ex hado, ex tatsu) could potentially lead into a free ultra.
