is ultra is already not that strong jesus. u have most ultras doing 500 plus. while his does 398 alone. the only ultra that needs to be toned down is sagats.
HK tatsu is currently -2 on block. It can’t be punished unless you have a 2 frame jab or 2 frame super.
It’s easy to duck under (and easy to hit after you’ve ducked it), but if you block the first hit, I believe you have to block the rest. You take massive chip damage AND are put in a 50/50.
EDIT - Confirmed frame data.
Oh shit I thought it was -3 on block now.
Forget what I said then…I thought I recalled it being punishable on block when playing face to face, but -2 frames is not enough time.
Not even boxer has a 2 frame jab.
People should listen to this guy.
And thats saying A LOT from the cr.lp GOD. :wow:
If you want a move to be truly punishable, you have to make it at least -4, and probably something more (-5 or -6), because not everyone even has a move that starts up in 3 frames (throws aside). Abel being such an example. His fastest normal is 4 frames (st.HP). His command throw is 5 frames. So in order for Abel to punish a -4 move for more than just a throw, he has to hit st.HP with reversal timing. In that vein, you might as well make it -6 so it’s a little easier to punish.
EX tatsu is -1 on block, not to mention it pushes the opponent far away. Too good for the damage it does (both standalone and ultra). I don’t think you should get a free combo of choice off a blocked EX tatsu, though. I’d be fine with just a normal or something.
And can someone explain why Ryu’s super is +11 on block?? (It’s not a huge deal because rarely will you block a super from point-blank like that, but still… what other super is that good? All the other supers I can think of have huge recovery on block)
Ryu super is 3 frame start up i think, and it just comes out godly fast. and it does push back a decent amount i would say.
That doesn’t mean it should happen…
Um no it has to be ridiculously unsafe on block. Ryu shouldn’t be able to throw such a high damage move out randomly in mix ups (guess my throw or ex tatsu!) without being severely punished. It does 200 dmg and can link into ultra. If blocked Ryu should be eating a FAT combo.
**SRK FADC needs to not have mixup afterwards!!??!?
**
Ryu is -1 after a SRK FADC …
because of this only very fast followups are viable to not get you counterpoked
Dashing forward after an SRK FADC is not always the smart choice.
Hell if you do it to gief he’ll ultra you for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
If you block that next SRK you get a huge combo.
SRK FADC is gay, but not because of the post FADC mixup
Ex hurricane needs to be punishable on block for a fat combo?
EX hurricane doesn’t need to be punishable on block but the Ultra followup needs to be removed completely unless low tiers get significant buffs than it can stay. Ryu isn’t OP, 5/5 and 6/4 matchups aren’t OP most of the cast he has a 6/4 against are characters that lack major elements in their game like guile, vega, and fuerte. It’s a mixup … believe it or not throwing isn’t the only way to get out of a throw … lots of times you can just backdash and only get hit by 1 hit of the EX hurricane for like 40 damage? so 40 Damage and not eat a throw (120 damage) or EX hurricane (200) … the mixup isn’t op but very very good. Anticipating your opponent and adapting is what street fighter is about, hell if you have a reversal you can just reversal when you expect the mixup … but risk reward exists for everything.
This mixup isn’t even good against (Zangief, Abel, honda, and shoto’s) as they can bust you hard for trying ti.
Why is ryu’s fireball super +11 on block?
Ryu’s fireball super has been plus on block in everygame it’s been in since superturbo … that’s why it’s +11 … in superturbo you could actually do an overhead in the corner after they blocked it and if you timed it right 1 hit of the super would connect with the overhead … kinda stupid. Should it stay this way? probably not but that’s why they did it. Maybe make it +2 or even +11 is kinda dumb.
his ultra doenst need to be toned down, its fine where its at, let alone he does have to work to get his dmg in.
**Where did I say anything about toning down his Ultra?
I don’t think anyone’s Ultra should be toned down…**
ring a bell?
I think you misunderstood what he meant there
probably, but thats only one of the ways to tone down ryu. if not its the add more invincbility frames to lp dp… thats pretty dumb imo.
**
No, that’s what the guy above me posted.
It was sarcasm for his ridiculous ass statement
I want the trade DP into Ultra to be removed completely.
He wants to keep it, but have reduced damage on the Metsu…**
I don’t think Ryu needs to be toned down at all. For all the crying that people do over Ryu I think he generally needs everything he has. He may have a far share of ways to go into his ultra, but the damage is generally not outrageous (as most people claim Sagat’s is for instance.) I would say Ryu’s current standing is a product of the way the game turned out more so than any one option he has at his disposal. At least for me, he is perfectly balanced and all characters should strive to be more or less in that neighborhood of balance. I think for the most part simply toning up some of the characters he handles well will be enough to balance Ryu out overall. Maybe one nerf or so, but for the life of me I can’t think of which nerf that would be =(
Although given he will probably be gaining new tools, he will probably be nerfed in a few other places to compensate for his new toys, I just hope that the nerfs are made intelligently.
As for new tools, we already know he will get a new ultra, but as for specials Im personally hoping for the fake hadouken. I really enjoy this option in HD Remix and it would be helpful with matchups where characters have relatively easy answers to fireballs on reaction. For instance Gief can EX Hand fireballs on reaction, and Blanka can slide them on reaction as you all know, and given that the latter character will likely get a couple of neat buffs, Giving ryu the option of playing a sweet mindgame at slide range will be a nice touch.
yea add more invincbility to his srk… = no meaties on wake up anymore(like there is really in this game)… and when ryu has ultra you shouldnt be jumping at him. problem solved
Forcing people to do a perfect reversal isn’t the only reason you use a meaty dude. Although I agree that adding invincibility to SRK would be a dumb move. I personally enjoy the trade ultra mechanic and would hate to see it leave. Besides people seem to forget that you can still get ultra off non traded jab dp’s in this game (super as well).
Anyone want to tell me what the game would be like if everyone had as many strengths as ryu has in this current game? Can you tell me you’d want to play that game?
Everyone should really be maybe just a little less than where balrog is, in that balrog has a weakness that you can find
