The “superhighway” analogy of The Internet holds true. It’s a place where anybody can communicate with anybody. What part of that don’t people understand?
“OMG, I drove over to that neighborhood by the industrial area, you know, where all the poor people live, and can you believe that people were out on the street corner selling drugs there? And hookers! No blackjack though. But there was a craps game happening in an alley.”
Come on, people. Humans are Humans and will act like Humans in nearly all scenarios with Humans involved. Stop acting like this is new. That said, Russia has banned Jehovah’s Witnesses in their country as well, and while I may not agree with an outright ban, I can definitely follow the lines of reasoning that lead to that conclusion. I think that outright bans are a slippery path to bad things. I may not also agree with everything that Reddit has posted within it, but I 1. understand that they cannot 100% control their members and 2. that it’s unreasonable to assume that their either can or should even do that.
People need to get their panties out of a bunch and stop trying to think for everyone. The very same people who jump up and down clapping about this would get bitch-slapped by some big burly Russian dude who hates uppity ass Western bitches like them and everything they stand for. You see, likes and dislikes and social preferences and morally-tinted world-views work both ways. That’s why I would never support an outright ban on something that I personally loathe like Jehovah’s Witnesses, while reserving the right to mock them at every opportunity I get and holding them accountable for the stupid shit they do. We already have a system in place for policing illegal activities though, and if lines ever get blurred to the point where simply saying or expressing something that is unpopular becomes the realm of the police, well then I’m moving to Russia to become a big burly vodka-swigging dude who hates uppity ass Western bitches like all of you.
(I feel…weird and somewhat dirty for being inclined Russia for once in this instance, at least Putin’s Russia, if actual illicit dealings and such were involved, which wouldn’t be surprising.)
Not that I hate reddit unlike apparently a good many people in here. I literally couldn’t care less about it given I constantly forget it exists. Basically my only relationship with it is when one of my few friends mentions that he found something on reddit and that’s usually it since he’s basically just a casual reader of it as far as I can tell.
The slippery slope argument doesn’t really apply here either, at least in the sense of Russia under Putin having any actual freedom. He and his administration will ban what it wants via whatever flimsy justification they want as long as they’re allowed to stay in power. (By they way, given they condone and thrive on racism and Putinism [and homophobia], your rhetorical pleas fall on deaf ears, SoVi3t.)
Sigh. Seriously, Raz0r?
The worldshould be a better place and humanityshould be better than we are, but it isn’t and we aren’t. As such, it’s hardly surprising that the Internet is a dark reflection of this dirty little fact.
Honestly, why are you suddenly acting like people being assholes and do illegal stuff is somehow confined to the Internet? The Internet distills it, perhaps, but it’s hardly as if people are only massive assholes on the Internet. I mean, you live in fucking New York City, which is basically recognized to be the asshole capital of the already too frequently obnoxious U.S. even in real life. To say nothing of the fact that people take advantage of anonymity to act like assholes or worse even offline since that’s pretty much the basis of getting away with most crimes.
It’s even funnier since you use “public shaming” as example of what holds people back when a lot of the times, as seen with the relatively recent changes in social media, people often use draconian public shaming as an excuse to be assholes to other people, just like they often do in real life. How this is somehow surprising to you given all the stuff you constantly gripe about just reminds me that I honestly wonder if you have DID or something.
Thread is hilarious and ripe with pussy worship. Which is even funnier since if you do pay attention, SRK is most hostile and disrespectful towards men.
(Well this answers some questions I had about post count again.)
Sigh. I swear that if this thread turns into another abortive “discussion” about social justice warriors and faux feminists who don’t deserve attention in the first place that I will gladly close this thread.
Bad-mouth on Reddit all you want, but let’s not go to that other topic when we don’t have to.
Eh, don’t have much good to say about Russia. I love the music Peter Tchaikovsky composed. That’s about it. When Russia imposed their “homopropaganda” bullshit is when they lost me completely.
As Bertrand Russell used to say; “Love is wise, hatred is foolish.” - I recently watched an incredibly disturbing video on youtube posted this year - it was disturbing indeed. Russia is going back in time. Its government is foolish, its people is brainwashed, and its lgbt citizens very frightened. - I honestly feel bad for the Russian citizens.
Here’s the clip: - As a side note, this was a social experiment executed by two straight guys (props to them). - There are subtitles in English.
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. - 1st Amendment, US Federal Constitution.
Not all speech is protected by the Constitution. For instance, if speech is considered inflammatory or harassment, the U.S. government can (and has) create laws to quell such speech. It’s not a stretch to say a part of a website that goes around taking illegal pictures of women does not fall under protected speech.
I’m busy with school, work, and a relationship. But a major reason I limit my time posting on this site is exactly what you mention here. Toxic is a great word to describe the rampant bigotry and close mindedness that seems to spew forth from this site.
They didn’t even ask that guy to explain and just free bleed read locked onto the word in his whole spiel to start another talk about themselves post nobody asked for, nor explain the reason they are attracted, nay, take pleasure in things that are toxic - perhaps trying to be the female toxic avenger wife of the regular one. Despite having little free time, this not being the place of discussion about their life ever - yeah this is just non-logic, no more time wasted on it.
There’s no reason to ask him to explain since I’m pretty sure that guy gets roasted in the other sections as being 100% subservient to Japanese Grandmasters only, nobody else can compare, messing up threads even in tournament results with his trite off-topic fanboyism. Ignoring if JP players ever lose, others innovate, camaraderie between both he’s never going to be a part of, like its news Japanese people who made games and get to play them a lot are good in them.
Like specifically labeling porn in one-fell-malnourished-masturbation-hand-motion swoop as bad. What a prude. Couldn’t even talk about his fetish within believing Japanese porn could be the best, while being an opinion you could be informed on and share in such a thread for that.
We can also go into anyone else’s communities and see how bad they truly are with ripe racism, ignorance, paying $18.99 a month to click monsters for 12 years in a row, agreeing with companies who could brick your hardware if you didn’t connect to the Internet within their time limit, being banned for asking when this ugly game is even coming out, being banned for asking for customer support, men are always wrong but its not his fault he was born a man, but he’s still a man, and all sorts of things.
So are we supposed to care? Russia hasn’t banned SRK have they?
