Lol its funny I see a lot of reddif hate on here. I have never been on reddig but you got players like shoultz who acts like srk is the shittiest site online and reddit is a place for gods
I think SRK is shitty for different things. We’re more like GameFAQS than we care to admit. If you go to the fighting game portions of the site, everyone wants to be treated with kids gloves. If you call someone out in a way deemed inappropriate, you’re banned. You can’t even really have a good conversation because it’s everyone sticking to their feelings and not giving way to reason.
GD is pretty misogynist, and it’s been like that for a long time. We also hate feminism, more so the radicalized form of it instead of its original definition although even that is hard for some posters to agree on. We’re also intolerant of many viewpoints, but that can be said of literally every board in existence online.
Reddit has some solid threads, for sure. To say it’s devoid of value would be disingenuous. However, it also houses some of the most TOXIC parts of the internet where creepy and outright illegal behavior is (or was) tolerated. Besides those I mentioned, there was also a subreddit for upskirt shots of women walking around. People went out of their way to take pictures under women’s skirts, which is highly illegal. They also had a subreddit that housed pedophiles, although I’m not sure if that shit is still around or was outright banned not long after its inception.
So yeah, we have shitty attributes and I’ll admit that. But we are nowhere near as bad as you can get when you visit Reddit.
That toxic stuff is out there and has been since the beginning of forever. I guess reddit makes it easier, and more public, for it to exist but if you were to take the the bad subs away those creepy/horrible fuckers would just find somewhere else to live.
Suddenly the thread derailed into whatever. IMO it should be closed as the OP’s information proved to be wrong, there’s nothing to discuss on the topic
I only used Reddit for DFO and it was perfectly fine.
I think it is difficult to monitor everything on a website as large and diverse as Reddit…it might be the reason that atrocious things have been “allowed” for as long as they have.
Fact of the matter is, toxic people with toxic idealogies exist everywhere, even here. Just look at all the anti-feminists on SRK…and peak into the porn discussion thread.
Reddit is fine in my experiences, frequenting subreddits for specific hobbies or shows/games/movies to discuss and learn extra shit that I would otherwise have to waste time looking for or possibly never find out and also share the same with others. Or just talking about the latest and greatest in relation to the subreddit’s theme.
For specific content, it’s usually OK. Though one annoyance I have with one sub, is the flavor of the day clone posts that fishes for internet points.
Though the other sub I go to completely mocks that one with even better content.
