The Akuma Tatsu assist is pretty much one of the best assists in the game. Like you pointed out, Haggar can make use of this well by having Akuma push the opponent to the corner and help apply pressure once the opponent is successfully pressured. However, I have tried to use the Tatsu assist to extend combos at midscreen and could not use it successfully. It may be a different story in the corner, though. I haven’t tested that.
Lately I’ve been running Haggar (Lariat)/Skrull (Stone Smite)/Hawkeye (Quickshot), and it’s very strong. I’ve got extremely damaging combos using both assists, and Stone Smite in particular is a great damage addition to the combo. Having Skrull’s Inferno available in case I wind up whiffing a Rapid Fire Fist off of the lariat (more commonly with assists) made for some major help. However, I feel like I just can’t work with Hawkeye, since I just can’t figure out how to play him as an anchor.
What other characters are there with projectiles/beams that Haggar can combo from the OTG into either a hoodlum L or lariat? I’m not at my computer right now, but can he do so off of MODOK’s psionic blaster?
If Hawkeye isn’t cutting it for you, Doom’s molecular shield works well and he does well in the anchor position. I hear plasma beam also works, but the timing is trickier. Dorm’s darkhole also works with special timing, and Dorm is also a good anchor. And if you aren’t against using Arthur, he’s the character I have in the anchor slot for my Haggar team. Daggers are very useful.
I use Dorm’s dark hole, and Doom’s plasma beam for movimentation and to extend combos and make resets set ups
i got 2 videos uploaded on youtube of ft10 matches, where i use those combos, links :

Just don’t mind the epic raccoon comeback at the first video, that guy sure knows how to grab in the air (i did a Doom comeback without x-factor at the end of the video too lol)
how Xyless said, those assists needs to be timed more strictly than others
with dormammu assist in the corner, you have to do a backdash, call him and then do the d.H
With plasma beam, you have to call doom, do the d.H and wait just a tiny bit to cancel into the pipe, or else the char will fall off the combo
Lately I have been running haggar/shuma/arthur. Shumas mystic ray helps big time defending against flight and super jumping and you can combo off of a wild swing too . If i switch out arthur with Trish or rocket raccoon I get even more defensive options while still being able to extend combos. Now if only I did suck complete ass with shuma and rr . . .
haha don’t worry MrsBonbon, Shuma and RR are a diff kind of character, you need some more time with them to get used to their mechanics
I used shuma against a friend of mine who is an AWESOME Zero player, he won lot’s of tourneys here. Shuma’s mystic ray is really good for taking out zero off the air. Now i try using Hidden Missiles, but i’m not too used playing with this assist, and i only get to drop combos x.x but… nothing that some training doesn’t fix right?
arthur is a good anchor, and his knifes are good assists for Haggar, as they help getting closer and helps on combos after the d.H OTG
I’ll try to put RR instead of dormammu to test and see if they will do fine together.
MsBonBon, do you have any videos of you playing some matches?
So I’ve been running Haggar/Arthur/Doom for a long time(since Vanilla) but I wanna switch it up a bit. How do you guys feel about Haggar/Arthur/Dante (Lariat/Daggers/Jam Session)?
I’ve recently picked up Haggar after some trial through fire with my Felicia team. At the moment, I’m running Felicia (buckler)/Haggar (lariat)/Doom (beam) and it works for the most part.
Haggar helps Felicia get people off her and into a combo
Felicia helps Haggar with unblockable pipe set ups
Doom just helps both by shooting science!
But I’ve been debating the potential differences with running Haggar on point with Felicia as the low assist back up and if that might be better or worse.
I put in a lot of time with haggar(a)/shuma(a)/arthur(b) and I have been getting decent results. Hyper mystic smash is a good dhc or thc midscreen and hyper mystic ray likewise in the corner off of giant press.
I guess it comes down to which character you prefer to have 2 assists to work with. Doom and felicia’s low hitting assist make for a very scary haggar.
You got a point. I think I will experiment with Haggar/Felicia/Doom for a while. Haggar just does too much meterless damage with assists to not try it.
Way I see it, Felicia is better off with only 1 assist or even on anchor than Haggar. I might be biased but I just dont see Haggar being truly viable without being on point. He needs assists to relaunch while felicia can otg on her own. Not that I know anything about it but I have heard arguments for felicia being one of the better anchors. Whenever I see an anchor doom, I know Im just going to be blocking and punishing footdives.
Hmm… Doom has served me well as a anchor, but I’ll agree with Haggar being better on point. 700-800k meterless is just simply too disgusting not to pass up on.
Dont forget to looks for reset possibilities. If Im up against a big character or get you in the corner, there is a good chance Im killing you without using any meter. I know what your saying about Doom though, in vanilla I played task on anchor because of the shear come back factor but I found that it was not reliable in the end.Sorry if I am making assumptions about your play style but random footdives just arent reliable all the time. A good felicia anchor has real mix-ups and will likely be more consistent. Just a suggestion, take it with a grain of salt because I play random ass hawkeye on anchor but I do aspire to replace him with someone more solid.
I appreciate your advice, but I assure you I’m not one of those ‘SPAM FOOTDIVE’ Dooms, I at least try to mix up between IADF j. and IADD c.:l: I mean use footdives on occasion but it’s not my main basis for Doom.
EDIT: On further thinking, it definitely might be worth experimenting with Haggar/Doom/Felicia cause of the unblockable set ups.
Nah, it’s cool. Well, I think it’ll stick with Haggar/Fel/Doom for now, cause the Plasma Beam assist just helps too much against other zoning characters and enemies with super armor. Plus it’s fun to cross up with her ADK and follow up with a toy touch combo
Any tips with using doom missiles to extend combos? The best i have done is knock them down with air S, call doom as soon as i land, dropkick twice as slowly as possible so missiles otg, then air pipe them back down to dropkick into THC…hoodlum relaunch seems impossible because either they are too high after 2-3 missiles or i grab them but the other missiles hit while i am still in hoodlum cooldown, and i can’t do anything after that. Missiles are pretty good for resets though.
I’m going to try combining Firebrand with my Haggar/Frank duo. With Firebrand on point a simple bon voyage puts the opponent in the corner and ready to eat a hoodlum M reset from Haggar (hard tagged in). With the right timing I’ve found I can buffer the motion and delay the M so that Haggar tracks them whether or not they tech behind him or into the corner. I’ll see how well it holds up in real matches though.
how is haggar (lariat)/ doom (can’t decide)/ frank (cart)? Originally I thought that Haggar and frank were level up bffs but I realised just how difficult it is to land a ground bounce rff, especially off a pipe confirm. However doom can really easily level him up with the air photon array dhc survival tools bs, and haggar lariat helps frank level up mid combo. I also would like to know what the best doom assist to use is. I know that all three can be used for haggar combos, but lots of people still seem to use molecular shield for extensions, even though the other two are much more useful. Thoughts?
