Rumours, speculations and theories

^ Yeez, couldn’t he put that obnoxious watermark somewhere else? Good stuff though. I’m checking and refreshing the thread like a madman. Lol.

Capcops are out.

I knew the majority of the DLC would have been disc since they mention “long term DLC plan” but if that is the proposed price i’ll be happy to pay for it. Again don’t want to repeat myself but my major concern is the pricing. At this moment im still worried that they will charge the same as a rehash version altogether (maybe even more), which will make me question what is DLC actually benefiting? Me and You? Capcom? I hope they are priced fairly however this is capcom.

What’s worse is that UK gamers get charged more. Take Jill and Shuma, they were 5 dollars in the us store in the uk 5 pounds. 5 pounds is nearly 8 dollars. I understand they’ve got to pay for europe server space but 3 dollars worth more? (doubt anyone else will care here on that last point :P)

The thing is people will tell you that you dont have to buy dlc, normally they’re right but this one is different. Without buying the characters we wont be able to learn matchups, and end up getting rushed down by a Lei (or anyone else) who is spamming a move which we have not idea how to beat with our teams.

I’d pay it, as much as I’m grinning for what’s happening, 15 for 12 characters is a good deal, I mean Blaz blu characters were 8 dollars a character!

Yeah but this is capcom :’( Let’s not get our hopes up here. I’m expecting to take out a new mortage

I’d draw the line at 20 bucks which still isn’t too bad, but if they let you buy them individually I’ll just get them over time.

And wheres that Tekken character leak Hackorz! lol

I’m the only one bugged at everyone having the same lie down animation/pose/whatever? Seeing Guy lying down there without style breaks my soul and brings tears to my eyes. Who’s that alt. costume based on, by the way?

20 bucks is actually petty for everything that’s going to be dlc.

costumes
gems
characters
etc.

It would be nothing short of amazing for Capcom to release it under 50.00 but my guess is around 200$ for the full experience of this game.

the characters are just the main concern since it’s part of the experience of the game and not some additional feature that wouldn’t make much difference to the gameplay.

I don’t think it’d reach 200 dollars, but with all the characters I’m expecting it to be more than $100 (at which point people probably would have preferred a $40 disc update)

True but a disk wouldn’t have dlc.

Just more stuff that affects gameplay.(no, costumes does not affect gameplay)

Anyone seen Lei and byran?

Woah, im off down the bank to take out that mortgage i was talking about as Lei is my tekken main and he looks beastly.
(Can i post it?)

But seriously i hope capcom doesnt mess us about with DLC prices, enough will be enough for alot of people if they expect a disc worthy pricing altogether (hate to persist but this seriously worrys me!)

Consider Capcom’s history.

Still don’t appreciate characters being dlc in a fighting game.

well what is done is done…you either pay for them or you don’t :stuck_out_tongue: i mean you can’t get any more simple then that. for one reason or another thats how they set it up…and apparently CapCops damage control has started too…so I don’t know how things are going to end up, but i think thing will quite down for now…

Oh i have and this is why it worries me, im guessing 5 for a team, 5x6 = 30, and thats if they’re happy and being generous (guess not now haha). I don’t like it too, like i said, they’re on this disc probably because it doesnt lock people out or force other people to only play against other dlc buyers. This means if we dont buy we basically get affected gamewise, as we cant learn matchups and probably get a move mashed to our deaths because we can’t train to know which moves stop certain spam tactics. Well played Capcom, well played.
My ultimatium will be how much they cost, if they think im paying 20+ for all characters, i’ll do without them, traded the game in and get some other game (thats if its not worth pennies due to the backlash).

Costumes, gems, stages, music etc i can see the validity of “hey dont like them, dont buy them, they wont affect you” but characters is too far. Still only bought one costume pack in SSF4, never planning to but understand if others got the cash they might aswell.

Obviously you haven’t heard of the whole Cody Alt 1 versus Gen thing in SSFIV. If Cody has is Alt 1 costume, some of Gen’s combos don’t work on Cody when they should. :sunglasses:

Anyways, I came a bit late…the Cody gameplay has been taken down already. Did it show Cody’s Super Art? Was it like the one he had in Alpha or was it a rehash of the not-as-awesome version that was in SFIV?

@Sagatslosteye

You can see the validity of selling gems? Eh? Owning more gems than your opponent is a competitive advantage. Or, to put it another way, if it’s a really close match and you lose, it might not be because you were outplayed in the final seconds, but because a gem activated that you didn’t have.

Let’s say - and this isn’t something I actually agree with - that all gems, default and DLC, are balanced in the long term; over 100 matches. That’s fine if we’re looking at win/loss records, but it doesn’t take into account the importance of individual matches. What if you won 99 games, but then lost in the 100th to your greatest rival because he bought a gem you didn’t?

There are all sorts of reasons why gems* absolutely should not be DLC*. Just think about what competition means in society - in history - and why people get so upset when they feel things are unfair. Why shouldn’t games be held to the same standards?

Looked pretty much like a mix between Dead End Irony and Final Destruction, starts kicking the crap outta’ his enemy, then a few punches, big hurricane, and what it seemed a new animation afterwards (not the “you’re boring the crap outta’ me” one)

Dam I was too late to see the Cody gameplay, anyone got a mirror?

I don’t understand why the FGC is not more upset about this. I would expect a lot more, its easily as bad as the ME3 DLC people are up in arms about. This is terrible practice and awful for customers and consumers. Even if its 2$ a character, as a 50$ game I don’t want to pay 75$ for a complete version.

DLC characters made after production are one thing, but having them done beforehand and just locking them should not be considered ok. As much excitement I have for SFxT, I cancelled my pre-order once I heard about this.

And this is not about “if you don’t like it, dont buy it/the dlc” I don’t like it, and I won’t. But its still worth bringing up. Things that are finished in production and on the game should be released to the consumers. The game should not be made with a dozen extra characters locked away from the beginning with a plan in place to nickel and dime your fans from the start.
