I seriously doubt the remaining leaks are going to ALL be DLC. Capcom is already on thin ice with the community after Ultimate went over like a fart in church. 12+ DLC characters would not only be a huge hassle for tournament organizers (this game seems to be very tournament-oriented), but it would freaking wreck public relations especially in this “Occupy” age we live in.
My guess is that we’ll get that “Greater than Ultimate Mahvel” roster via unlocks and what Ono was referring to was additional characters down the road.
What worries everyone is that Capcom has a lot of nerve. Even after the UMVC3 fiasco, I still wouldn’t put it past Capcom to make us pay for the remaining 8-12 characters.
With the way Ono, Seth, Brelston, and Sven are talking, it’s clear that there is a surprise planned for buyers of the game. Now it’s just a matter of if the surprise is a free one or something we’ll have to pay for. I just find it hard to believe they’d try to genuinely surprise us with something without making an announcement for it.
All I can say is “Money talks,” and the lack thereof that Ultimate made, combined with the absolutely HORRIBLE reaction it got, SFxT is going to be looked at as how Capcom apologizes for that.
Even if we do get stuff like free Alt. 1 outfits and 12 unlockable characters (Unlocking characters in Tekken was fun, but that’s something for the olden days IMO)…I still will think there’s a catch.
That’s true. Miguel was never a drunken character, he’s just very lazy and bored.
Probably Bruce considering his former partnership/rivalry with Lei. There’s also Feng who is Lei’s current rival.
I can’t think of anyone else except maybe Bryan, but eh.
its a rough decision the consumer has to make, well not really but you gotta think.
if your like me and you like SFxTK…you want the game, period however you don’t want to support a company that wants to censor the net as we know it. Sure i get the game i’ve waited for about 2 years, but i look like a traitorous sellout to everyone else. while personally i can give two shits about what people think of me, others may not be accustomed to that idea.
Im i sending the right message is what im trying to say, I like Capcom’s products, but not their ideology. Their business practice and who they support should be irreverent to me, the consumer, however when it directly involves me and everyone else, then it becomes a problem.
most people are too busy worrying about games themselves then worrying about whats around them, and this is a bad practice for us gamers…i cant stress this enough that we need to be aware of this. It’s not just Capcom, but EA is one of the worse as they Protest against Used games and fully support the idea of online passes in hopes to destroy the used game market, however thats a different topic all together.
Point is, it puts me, and maybe other people in a uncomfortable position when Capcom does things like this, and they wonder why titles like UMVC3 didn’t sell huge numbers.
^That’s why I don’t think the characters that have been leaked are going to be DLC. A lot of people, as you’ve said, cannot seperate the quality of the games and the quality of the company. Capcom right now is a beehive of negative controversy between articles like that, Ultimate, DLC “scams,” and “trolling the Megaman fanbase.” Capcom is not a company run by imbeciles: they know full well that they’re in extremely hot water with their target audience, and they’re going to need to throw some kind of bone to them to satiate them. 12+ DLC characters from the get-go is not going to be the way to do it.
DId you guys check out the interview Ono did with Gamespot Asia? He was asked what was the final roster count and his response was something along the lines of “Well I cant really answer that because with ‘online’ there is no final number”. So it sounds like there are characters for sure coming via download. Now the question is whether they will be free, priced individually or part of a bigger game update down the line.
Its though to say because the are the same jackasses that decided that we are going to make a color edit mode…with only 2 extra colors, the rest is free DLC…“what?”, or better yet announce DLC costumes well before release, the concepts of DLC were already in mind. So I wouldn’t surprised if there is a crap ton of DLC lined up.
Capcom this time may pull a RockStar and have you buy a Season pass…for a premium price you get all future DLC…however knowing them they could milk us more by doing what they been doing.
characters are just 1 piece of this whole ugly picture sadly to say.
