If it’s truly “Namco vs. Capcom”, then I’d like to think it’d be an all new engine that could accommodate all of the various characters. Because after all, if we’re expected to have the likes of Soul Calibur characters like Ivy and a Darkstalker like Jon Talbain possibly joining the fun? It’s going to have to be something new.
i hope if it is namco vs capcom it wont be a versus game in the style of mvc or tvc but something more serious and down to earth (ground game)
you just reminded me of Epic Battles TCG (MK: Deception vs SF3 3rd Strike vs Tekken 5). now im gonna go cry and cut myself. T_T
So, I’m hoping they do the cvs/svc thing, and have both companies do a game. That way we can have our vs game with SC/Tekken characters, and they can have their Tekken with sf (& SC) characters.
Maybe it’ll be kinda like SF EX…? I’m sure they’ll figure out some system that works.
Hopefully they’ll have a lot of SC characters and… Klonoa?
Me too. I hope they do it before the fighting game bubble bursts again. I have no doubt in my mind that MK vs SF would be bigger than SF4. That’s the fantasy matchup we all had when we were kids.
Street Fighter Vs Tekken could work.
Imagine a game that randomly starts off either 3D or 2D when you go into a fight using an upgraded SSF4 engine. Now imagine if you built up 2 bars of meter and could use it to change the perspective from 2D to 3D or vice versa. Always switching up how the game plays and trying to tip it into the favor of the type you are good at.
A game that could do that would be NUTS to play if executed well, but that’s just my thoughts. Odds are it will just be another Darkstalkers game lol.
what the fuck.
…Tekken vs. Street Fighter <= two different fighting game engines together at last. What does Mugen say? :S
Personally, I think a CapcomxNamco game will work, if done with giving a groove to each side. Parrying can really help dealing with the SF projectiles, and advanced throw can help dealing good damage when being close etc
You really don’t even need that kind of stuff (Parrying, etc.), in my opinion.
I mean, Rival Schools/Project Justice still stands as a great representation of how you can do a Capcom fighting game within a “3D space”. If you didn’t choose to side-step a move, you had other options, through the form of command normals, dash attacks and specials that might effectively nullify or outright beat a projectile. If Batsu’s Back+Hard Punch could snuff out a Projectile in Project Justice, surely the likes of a Raijin Ken from Kazuya can be made to do something similar.
Speaking of Rival Schools, I wonder if a similar team dynamic may be employed here. Calling out your partner for the sake of super specials and possibly DOA-style tag throws would be interesting to see…
I actually liked the idea of that card game but I never had enough cards to play against anyone. The artwork on the MK cards was good from what I remember, but that’s about all that I remember.
Most retarded idea i’ve ever heard of my entire foggin life.
SFEX is basically ST with Alpha feel and super cancel, with 3D graphics on a 2D plane (really simplifying it here but yeah) .
So what are you talking about?
Sorry, I’ve only played it a few times a long, long time ago and I thought it had sidesteps. What I wanted to say was, maybe it’s like a 2D game but with sidestep elements.
I hope its just two companies getting together to make a fresh new game altogether.
If it is something along a VS game goodluck! you will need every bit of it.
RS style can work, it all depends on who’s developing it really. Capcom will probably go the 2D way [Which was what I was referring to really] and if Namco, no way it’s not gonna be a 3D FG
dunno about tekken vs SF, but namco vs capcom could work.
I see it happening in two ways,
-
some sorta marvel type game where neither SF or Tekken characters play anything like thier “normal” selves.
-
Namco and Capcom do two seperate versions. kind of like CvS and SvC. Capcom may do a traditional SF type game where alot of the namco characters have new moves to play like SF. i.e Basically a SF game with namco characters. And namco basically do tekken with SF characters. It would maybe be similar to that fake SF in virtua fighter trailer that was made for april fools.
In any case, I think it would more likely to be option 2.
I don’t know about you guys but after looking at that latest picture on Ono’s Twitter That Smudge next to the ryu picture looks like Jin if you look at it carefully. But that’s my opinion. You can kinda make out the hair and eyes closed like RYU.
i think Udon did all the artwork for all 3 card sets, although in SF3’s case, they took alot of the artwook from their SF comic books. dude i remember trading a piece of the Shin Akuma Personality card (4 pieces in all for all the boss characters. Shin, Onaga, and Jinpachi) for the Zombie Lui Kang. so rad. I really miss it cause it was alot easier to learn and play compared to something like UFS (another fighting game centric TCG sans MK), which sometimes felt technical just for the sake of it.
