I plink. But it makes the cancel into GT a lot harder. So there is a drawback. Plus you can get a MP
^^ That after the GT, for the MP to come out.
The timing is super hard for me. But I think it is a better option then Snake Strike if I can get it down. If only for the mind games and maybe adding a GT to the end of it.
saw some goofy combos in the NSB video I linked which I quite liked (off a dive kick):
st.LK, cr.MK xx HP Tornado
st.MK (two hits), cr.LK xx EX Tornado
saw kindevu do rufus roll, cr.LK xx EX Tornado too; roll mustâve been a counter-hit I guess
Post-throw strategy
If any of the following has already been addressed in this thread, please let me know (with minimal hate preferable) and Iâll go fishing. I just donât have time TONIGHT to read through 20 pages, but definitely plan to soon. Thanks.
After each of Rufusâs throws, what are some good patterns to put on reliable wake up pressure?
Currently after a forward throw I tend to df+MK roll, jump fwd, then dive kick just before the apex of my jump (just before seems to hit their feet). Sometimes too I will, as Iâve seen in some Wong videos, jump fwd and dive kick at the apex, then jump and dive kick again at the apex. Thereâs also gotta be something good after a dash or two, but I havenât figured it out yet. Any other good, reliable attack/bait patterns after a forward throw?
On a back throw, I really donât have anything. Iâll just dash or do an instant dive kick to change my position, but unfortunately I donât have any good sequences to ensure a deep or crossup dive kick. Any ideas?
And lastly, as weird as this sounds, one of the most confusing such situations is when I throw them right into the corner. I have all the time in the world and theyâre in the most dangerous position, yet Iâm not really sure whatâs good here. I can try to time a meaty crossup dive kick, but then Iâm putting myself in the corner unless I decide to back throw afterwards. What do you guys do to take advantage of the into-the-corner throw situation?
Thanks in advance!

Rufus has a bunch of stupid and impracticle one frame links like st.lk xâs 2, cr.lk ex tornado and cr.mp, cr.lp xâs 2 ex tornado.
Plus you can do st.lk xâs 2 into Standing Fierce or standing strong. Itâs retarded.
Nothing really worth using but itâs dumb how much stuff can link into Tornado which leads to free ultra. ;\
Plus just silly shit towards the corner like far rh > fragrance palm xx ultra and AA Snake strike at the apex of their jump into ultra. Itâs justâŚugh.
If Rufus wasnât so fucking awesome I wouldnât play him for the fact I have a love/hate relationship with how many ways he can land ultra.
I do agree that he can land his Ultra wayyyyyyy too many ways. I mean, if you are sitting on an Ultra in a round, something is wrong.
But I agree, Rufus is too awesome. He is probably one of the few characters that benefits from rushdown in this game.
so is s.lk> s.hp> hp GT 100% on all charaters?
and i seem to get fkn tiger uppercutted or shoryuken out of every dive kick, they fkn mash that shit out like theres no tomorrow, HELP ME !!!
Yup, guaranteed. Make sure youâre hitting your dive low enough. On standing Ryu you have to hit him in his front arm or lower.
Correct me if Iâm wrong, but anyone with a SRK like move can interrupt Rufus in between s.HP xx HP Galactic Tornado (blocked), amirite?
Daigo did it to Wong, but Iâve never experienced it first hand. It might be a matter of how quick the cancel is that determines if the blockstring is airtight.
Alright so in one of my posts I said that I some how rolled through Balrog on a crumple hit. I think I figured it out why it did that and has actually led me to believe I can start a new tactic with Rufus.
So after that escapade, I read a post of gbursineâs that said he could juggle a cr.lk off of a J.RH which would cause the opponent to do a flip and reset.
Well, thats what happened in my Balrog match. I must have hit him into his âreset stateâ and rolled under him.
So now I am going to start trying different âresetsâ a la Mahvel. In my opinion it could possibly open up a whole new part of my game.
I donât know how practical it is yet. I donât work until 4:00 pm tomorrow so I will be spending all day on this. Expect a thread tomorrow around 1:00 pm PST.
What do you guys think about this? I personally think it adds a lot to the game in screwing with your opponents head.
For example, Far st.hk > st.lk juggle > df + mk > lk, hp xx hp gt
Rufus has some cool resets. I had a pretty big post in regards to your possible followups/resets off of launcher, check it out. I need to amend that you can also hit HP GTs following the Target launch which I forgot.
I totally didnât even realize you could do dfMK and link into sLK, thatâs pretty cool.
Thatâs a nice reset string, and you could mix in the fMK on occasioan and lead into throw. I dig on farHK, jMK (land in front of them) throw although this doesnât work against online SRK-spammers too often. Whatâs even cooler about that one, if you do it in proximity to the corner Rufus will inexplicably crossup after the jMK even when it looks like he shouldnât, allowing you to back throw them back into the corner or try and capitalize on the unexpected crossup with sLK -> whatever.
Rolling through Boxer was probably due to his weird hitboxes, same as the crossunders a lot of people can do against Claw.
And I canât for the life of me hit a cLK following a jHK? I can get GTs, dive kicks, and the usual SS and Ultra, but no normals are connecting for me.
Looking forward to the post Puff.
I predict it only works on balrog and sagat. they both have lots of weird ground cross-up glitches discovered for them
wd be cool if it worked for the rest of the cast tho
The rolling through thing? Yeah, mostly Boxer and Claw, I donât know much about Sagatâs unusual crossunder stuff.
The resets work like normal though, although I donât think Rufus will reach Sakura-esque levels of reset madness he will certainly have a few useful tricks when all is said and done.
Actually it works on almost everyone. It is just harder on others. The thing about it is that it isnât a glitch or anything, Rufus just ends up rolling underneath them.
From what I have found, it is not that useful in a real match. I did it against 2 Ryuâs a couple of times each and got SRKâd out of one and lkâd out of the other. Will have to work on it though.
I need to find more setups that cause the reset flip state.
If you want to throw away guaranteed albeit scaled damage, you can do resets towards the end of the crumple animation off FA2 and FA3. Beside that and most attacks on airborne opponents I donât think Rufus has any other resets unique to his moveset.
Off of FA2/3, you can do something like forward jump dive kick and crossup on the reset which is really interesting, and obviously you can mix up whether you want to cross or not by the jump and timing of the dive kick.
Yea, thats all I have been able to come up with in a real match. Everything else just doesnât happen enough.
the problem with the resets is that some characters can own you in a very ugly way (dont ever try it on zangiefâŚ)
still its pretty useful against some others. I like reseting people of a jump HK if I dont have EX/Ultra meter with a dive kick or standing close HP canceled into a mk messiah. It keeps them guessing
Wow, I forgot the j.HK, dive kick reset. I wonder if you can Rufus Roll after. Hmmmmm.
Why throw out a mk messiah after a HP? Isnât lk or hk better since they can combo the lk extension?
