Actually, yeah. I had a long set with a friend just to train me to start using raw tornados against people with slow fireballs and focus attacks. Works like a charm, man. I’ve broken so much armor since then. I also look for the FA on divekick attempts, and switch to throw. My divekicks are reasonably low, so people tend to FA a little early if they are giong to do it, which opens them up to a little judo on reaction. Still working on perfecting this, but it’s gotten better.
Already used it on some bum this morning
As an aside, I’ve been using standing MK(far) in footsies a lot more, and it’s been kinda nice. It comes out pretty fast, and it’s a long range attack. The initial problem I had with it was the F+mk coming out, but I’ve started doing walk in(tap backwards) MK in footsies, and it’s throwing people off.
this makes the st.LK > st.HP link as easy as the st.LK > st.MP link imo
edit: this technique is massive, I think; it is a bit fiddly at first but once you get it down it’s easy enough and it makes difficult links relatively easy. e.g. linking ryu’s cr.MP > cr.HP or two cr.MPs is like butter now.
ymmv if you don’t have nice sanwa buttons, I’d imagine
just got to watch you don’t negative edge an ex tornado
does anyone else feel like the standing HP to galactic tornado is just a weird timing… im having problems executing this combo consitantly… i can execute everything else that he has no problem at all but just this one simple combo just throws me off… especially when i add in the dive kick to hp + galactic tornado… ugh i get it only like half the time… your thoughts please and tips would be appreciated
Just keep trying until you get it down consistently in training mode I used to have that problem I would go from S.HP to Cr.HP, it would get so annoying but after you get it down its piss easy.
The extra input thing is pretty good. I still need to sit down and practice links for a couple hours.
4xlp xx ex nado looked so tight when he did it. I was watching and I was like why is he jabbing? And all of a sudden BOOOM!!! There is the EX tornado for the win.
And since we’re sharing shit we learned from Justin–I’m starting to realize how smart it is to juggle a dive kick after a air-to-air j.HK that isn’t spaced optimally for EX Snake Strike.
more for the main reason of my vampire stratagem of: “keep the opponent standing so you can continue mixing up”
but lately i think the most optimal times to use it have been:
-dive in corner for above reasons(fullscreen do lp snakestrike instead to corner them)
-ultra is too low
-followup divekick/crossup divekick/rufusroll/throw
Hahaha! Wow, I found a good one that I might try to implement into my gameplay while testing something.
Anyone try :
LP Snake Strike <link> st.LK <link> st.LP xx EX Tornado (Space Opera Symhpony) 238/496
LP Snake Strike <link> st.MP xx EX Tornado (Space Opera Symhpony) 288/594
A little fancy, but I think it looks real slick, though you’re better off doing something else for damage.
Of course, it might be character specific so I’ll post the results for that later today.
lol in the middle of typing this I found sooo many links from SS (even st.HP!), but they’re all character specific! I’m going to have a huuuge chart later today, lol. I think I might start a new thread on Character specific combos/links, so no one do that while I’m in the danger room for the next few hours, okay?
the c.lp->s.lk is meerly a spacer, & has to be linked. after the tk, they’re either at an advantage(slightly), or neutral. by which they can:
-throw(you option select tech)
-upper(block then punish)
-tk(block then punish)
-redo the loop(lvl 1 fa the c.lp for free crumple)
i was so happy when i got the crumple every time. relies on predictability/assuming though. tk and throw beat an assumed fa. upper will too if there isn’t enough room for you to dash away after the first hit
Starting to learn Rufus, still mostly trying to learn the moves and practice BnB’s in training mode. Got a few questions:
It was mentioned C.LK xx LP Tornado doesn’t work on Cammy. When I’ve tried it, I’ve actually gotten it to connect about 5% of the time, but I can’t figure out why it connected those times and not any other time. Does anyone know what’s going on with that, and if this combo doesn’t work on anyone else other than Cammy?
If you try to hit confirm the LK,HK target combo with an earlier LK, does that have to be a link? I’m not at the level where I can hit links consistently, but I’m trying to figure out how to learn when I can connect the target combo to land the ultra.
What’s a good combo for punishing a blocked dragon punch?
