They have to be crouching, usually.

Most people will block Rufus’ dive kicks low actually, since it hits mid. That’s when you can mix in cross-up dives.
Rufus can cross-up with j.MK but it requires a bit of setup. Forward throw, dash twice, j.MK will work on some characters.

j.mk cross-up works against cammy, sagat, seth, abel, balrog, dudley, rufus, zangief(but lost to lariat…), probably works against t.hawk , but i never tested…
Worth remembering because fj.mk can link into a lot of things but it depends on character height. Rufus players rarely use it so you can surprise some players and get a free combo.

tons of them actually. You can Os with his divekick since it has no delay on landing too which is extremely useful.

try watching j.wong or ricky. If you want a jap rufus, watch Chobixinco, he’s pretty good too.

Notes:
Tornado goes through fireballs.
Neutral jump, divekick over fireballs to close the distance between the opponent and you.

Messiah can go over fireballs too, but only use it when you’re confident you’re going to hit the opponent with it.
U2 goes through fireballs.
cr.HP goes under High Tiger Shot from the right distance.
Learn to block on wakeup.

Need help against a C.Viper who focus-backdashes on wake-up. My option selects fail as the focus takes the hit the as I land I can’t hit her with st.LK during back dash. If she only backdashes on wake then my OS will work but how to counter hit focus backdash?

Viper can quite easily be safejumped. If I’m not mistaken that’s a 7-frame reversal. It definitely isn’t less than 5.
After a regular tornado keep on holding forward after pushing your opponent away. Then wait for Rufus to take a tiny step forward, then quickly jump towards and hit HP. Record yourself doing it as Rufus on the P2 and try to reversal it while playing as Viper. (safe against 5-frame if you do it right)
An easier setup is after a forward throw. After a forward throw dash once, take a step back (not a tiny step, just a step) and jump towards HP. (safe against 5-frame).
Another setup after throw (which works against 3-frame reversal i.e. the entire cast) is to do a st.HP as soon as you’ve recovered from your throw. Hold up towards during the punch animation and then hit HP when you’re airborne.
I have a question of my own. What do Rufus players use as a hitconfirm? Are you supposed to be able to hitconfirm the divekick on its own or divekick into st.LK? 'Cos I often see Rufus players go for a divekick after a blocked divekick. Does this mean that they are hitconfirming or expecting a crouchtech/button press?

Right, my bad. Well I’m not Rufus expert. I just occassionally play with him. But from my experience FA isn’t really a viable option in most cases (unless if you’re Rose =ddd).
The reason for this is that you have to commit to the FA backdash, without knowing what the opponent is going to do. And Viper’s FA backdash sure as hell doesn’t cover all the options that Rufus has. It does beat divekick for example, but it doesn’t beat empty jump, walk up st.HP xx Tornado or empty jump, walk up throw. So sometimes it’s wise not to divekick on wakeup, but rather wait and perhaps do a delayed crouchtech. If your opponent guesses wrong with his FA, you should punish him correctly. After eating a few combo’s and throws, I’m sure he won’t be as tempted to FA backdash anymore. Then you can start doing divekicks again.
Have you tried walk up sweep?
If your divekick is crossing up, the back dash should sometimes turn into a forward dash. If she gets away, try to combo cr.short into ex GT.
Redivekicks are usually done when we expect a player to block an obvious initial divekick. It discourages the opponent from cr.tech’ing setting up a more successful grab attempt later.
Discourage cr.tech with multiple divekicks = more grabs.
Landing more grabs discourages just blocking = cr.tech or reversals.
Tips against viper
Jump back Fierce on your Wake up
Condition her to block on her wake up ( Meaning no Fierce TK in fear of punish )
On her wake up you can EX messiah to fuck with her
Walk up Grab
Break the Viper Players wrist.
