Why don’t they have enough time to release? You mean you can get another non-invincible attack in before the Focus Attack comes out?
What about when it’s not low?
How about at mid range?
I am surprised this isn’t covered somewhere because this comes up in more than half of my matches. Can i EX-Messiah after the divekick and beat out a focus attack? What are you guys using?
What about when rufus has no meter? This seems really effective.
I was checking the frame data thread and couldn’t find this information.
When an opponent blocks a dive kick high, and when the opponent blocks a dive kick mid, what is Rufus’ frame advantage, if any? Also, when an opponent blocks it ducking. I know it is less when the opponent blocks it mid/low, but what new things do you have to look out for when they block it higher up on their body?
Anyone know any Rufus mind games I don’t know any. I would like to learn some so I can get some free dmg on the opponent. Also sometimes when I pressure with dive kicks I get thrown what could be causing this?
Hmm, when abouts are you getting thrown? If it’s after the st.lk when you’re going for the st.hp it’s probably because cr.hp came out. If not then you are doing your dive kicks WAY too high.
Some good mind games for if they are blocking is dive kick, st.lk and then grab. Do this about two times and if you find they are good at teching (most people I play NEVER tech a throw after the st.lk, only people I play above 10k BP) but if you find they are teching it, then go for a dive kick reset and they will eat a full BnB with a good 264 dmg or w/e it is. I never incorporated dive kick reset into my game but it’s awesome because crouch tech mashers ALWAYS get hit and you can get the pressure game flowing and momentum in your favour
Thanks for the help I’m probably getting throw because my dive kick was too high. I also know that the Bnb is a frame trap I know it can punish crouch teching but will it work on people that like to mash jab on block?
I have an execution question. Do you guys negative edge the hp xx hp.GT in the bnb? If so, are you plinking the lk, hp? I’m playing around with negative edging it but the ex comes out way too often.
It took me a while to be able to negative edge while plinking. If you’re getting the EX you’re releasing HP to early. Basically, I plink the st.hp link with the mp button. So, when doing the st.lk, I hit hp, then mp of course but LET GO of the mp but keep the HP button held and release when you want the hp.GT to come out. That SHOULD work and it works for me, but took me a day or two for my hands to adjust to this. I find it easier to negative edge this link, I find it harder having to put in the GT motion after a standing hp, a crouching hp always would come out for me so I’d definitely recommend negative edging!
Yeah, of course in theory that’s what I try to do but in practice it’s about 50/50 between getting it right and having the EX come out. Definitely something I want to keep working on though as I have the other problem you mentioned of c.HP coming out some small percent of the time when I’m doing the hp.GT.
I don’t negative edge or plink the shorts for Rufus bnb the only thing I plink in that combo is the st.hp. Its not hard to combo the shorts for me because Bison is my main and bisons cr.short is the same timing as rufus st.short sagats shorts are also the same timing. All you need to do is go to the training room and practice until you get the timing down. I don’t think plinking shorts or negative edging for galactic tornado is good because when the match is close and you need that combo to finish off the opponent you will most likely not get your combo. This happened to me a lot when I tried to plink shorts.
Yeah I agree, I never meant to imply I was talking about plinking the short, in hindsight I should have just said hp as opposed to ‘lk, hp’ I wrote it that way to clarify which hp in the combo I was referring to even though there’s only one I’ve never tried plinking a short at all and it’s not really something I plan on doing unless I absolutely need to (which isn’t the case in this combo) because the hand positioning seems like a pain in the ass for it. I’ve still been messing around with the negative edge a bit though but I’ve mostly been working on the plink execution and timing of that link.
Well I dunno about you guys buy I never go for the 2 shorts and then the st.hp, I always go for 1 short. I don’t see the massive advantage in it. The only advantage I see is the fact it does 2 more damage mid-screen (honestly, 2 makes no difference whatsoever) and in the corner, the BnB with 1 short does more damage if you go for the lp.GT after (which pretty much everyone does in the corner) so there is no real benefit to this. Unless it pushes them to the corner more? Is there any other advantages to the BnB with 2 shorts?
I’ve heard people say it’s easier to hit confirm but when I was messing around with it I struggled with the timing more (which may have been due to being so used to the timing of the standard bnb). Any more I don’t really bother, I figure the benefit is pretty small so I’m not worried about it.
Off topic but whatever: my VH236H gets here today. Can’t fucking wait to try it out when I get home from work.
EDIT: Also I’m glad the traffic in here has been picking up a little. I’m really late to the ‘finally getting serious about fighting games’ party despite playing slightly more than casually for years, so the help and feedback is much appreciated.
Never did two st.lk either. As Faz mentioned, the damage scaling makes adding it in a discouragement, and it adds a little more pushback which could result in far st.hp instead of close st.hp or Tornado being blocked.
