Is it possible to dive kick os sweep and st.lk/hp so that you get sweep if dive whiff and st.lk/hp if it hits?
I find that when I try this I have to do the sweep so late that st.lk/hp won’t combo on hit/block so I have to dedicate to doing a dive and then do a late os tech with c.lp+lk+hk.
When you do os with j.hp you have enough time to do st.hp or whatever on hit and still get the sweep/ex.gt/ultra/throw out on j.hp whiff. Is it possible to do this with a normal dive? If it is, what am I missing?
Is it common knowledge you get full ex snake strike after a ex messiah fadc? Pretty gay. With 3 bars Rufus gets out for free on block and 328 damage on hit. If Rufus doesn’t have ultra anyway.
Yes, it’s common knowledge that that works on Abel, Balrog, E. Honda, Rufus, and Vega (new chars? dunno. that’s a small portion of the non-Super characters, though.). 328 damage for 4 bars is pretty much on par with Supers. “With 3 bars Rufus gets out for free on block” - Wrong. You’re -3 after a forward dash, which is a free punish for most of the cast, and even after a backdash there are multiple punishes, the most common example being Flash Kick.

How could anyone have known that you meant vs Hakan when you didn’t mention Hakan in your first post? Now you’re just trying to cover yourself.
Since Rufus is -3 after a forward dash, you can reversal SPD or 720 for free. As for a back dash, you could probably st. MP? I don’t know. Hakan is a terrible character, so it makes sense that he isn’t able to punish his opponents effectively.
Hey guys, I’ve recently been practicing with Rufus and I need a bit of help. His BnB combo, dive kick, st.lk, st.hp, hp.gt I’m having trouble with. I can connect the light kick and heavy punch no problem, but its the GT that’s giving me problems. It says in the combo thread its a 2 in 1, but I can’t quite seem to get it to work :S I think it would help a lot if I could get used to the 2 in 1 technique as it would make combo’s a lot easier for me. What are the correct motions I should be doing and at what time for a 2 in 1 to occur? (I mean the st.hp xx hp.GT) Thanks a bunch.
I thought a 2 in 1 is when the first move’s inputs count towards the inputs of the second move, e.g. Ryu’s c.MK xx Hadouken (the down input for c.MK flows into the quarter-circle motion for Hadouken). Unless it means Galactic Tornado comes ‘free’ with s.HP since it’s pretty safe on block.
Hmm I think I may have got it wrong then. Well how can the GT be a 2 in 1 from the st.hp? There’s no down input that could in any way contribute to the GT
The timing is pretty lenient. If you can do his one frame link then you shouldn’t have trouble with cancelling into Galactic Tornado really. I’m a bit confused, though. Are you having any particular trouble with completing the combo?
Low forward xx fireball isn’t that great of an example of a 2-in-1 in this game since you’ll have a good chance of getting a shoryuken instead due to input shortcuts. It refers more to the speed of the button presses, right after another, like punishing a whiffed srk from a distance with low forward xx tatsu, either tapped one right after the other or using negative edge, for example. You don’t really want to do fierce xx fierce gt all that fast though, since it’s not necessary. The reason you may be missing the GT is if you’re not holding forward after doing it.
Nah, I know to hold forward. This is always what comes out: lk, hp (GT doesn’t come out) or lk, c.hp (which happens sometimes and REALLY gets on my tits) or the proper combo. It’s probably 60/25/25 success rate (in the order I listed the combos). I guess I just need to get it into my head that I should input the GT motion WHILST the hp animation is taking place. The thing is, I can do it 100% say when doing j.hp, st.hp, hp.GT, so I wonder why I can’t do it in this combo Back to the lab I guess…

When canceling from st. HP into HP Tornado, do it relatively quickly. Make sure you hit every direction, ending the quarter circle forward motion with forward. That sounds obvious, but I’m willing to bet that’s your problem.
Thanks for that. After a lot of practice, I know seem to get c.hp a lot which is slightly annoying which means I’m doing it a bit too early. I can do the st.lk to st.hp with ease but not these? Jeez, I can do the hard but not the easy. Thanks for all your help anyway.

I want some opinions on picking ultras. In the Zangief and Blanka match-ups, which ultra do you think is best?
I use U2 vs gief and blanka.
though I find U1 useful too vs gief, any ultra is fine IMO vs gief. vs Blanka always U2.
