It’s does the same amount because of damage scaling.
Its the same across the board for everyone and is based on how many hits you combo.
For every hit past the first two, you get a percentage damage penalty.
im a abel user but im considering switching my main to rufus. ive been playing him casually for a lil while now and i believe i have all the basics down(BnB etc, good pokes). seeing as we dont have a rufus player i really have no one to learn from and was wondering what are some of his top level stuff, things i can work on to improve my game at a higher level. thanks
Watch vids of Justin’s rufus. Corner tick throw setups, dive kick cross ups, ect. As long as you can consistently land his BnB and mix in tick throws there isn’t much besides knowing the matchups.
what are your guys’ thoughts on rufus vs hakan. this seems like a very, very awkward matchup.
well sir, against hakan you need to get in…which is not as hard as against other grapplers because he has no reliable way to keep you out. watch out for his tick throws and his slide, but once you’re in, RTSD like there’s no tomorrow, he doesnt have an answer for rushdown which is one of his weakest points. So be patient, work your way in, and when you’re there, do your job, you should win that without much trouble, but dont think its free or you’ll get oiled
What’s this glitch J. Wong has discovered w/Rose’s orbs being nullified by EX GT at a certain distance?
^im not 100% sure so dont quote me on this but i believe it works because it is technically counted as a hit in the game engine. if you were to do ex GT without rose having the orbs it would suck her in a bit, i think that only registers as a hit, therefore breaking up the orbs
EX GT destroys fireballs on screen. It isn’t hard to extrapolate how it works based on knowing that fact.

But I couldnt help to notice that during norcal regionals, both ricky ortiz and jwong were using two s.lk on their BnB over just one s.lk most of the time. Anyone know if there is any reasoning to this, other than maybe hit-confirm? The difficulty seems easier as well, but thats just me.
Probably just a rhythm thing; there’s not really any need to hit confirm tornadoes given how safe they are.

They use s.lk s.lk because if you land your dive kick too deep or too high you need to do two s.lks in order to land the s.hp.
Using 2 st. lks before hp, hp gt also makes timing a safe jump slightly easier, imo.

2x st.lk is for hit confirm. That’s all.
Going into a st.lk -> st.hp gt combo resets Rufus’ dive kick pressure to an unfavorable position even if it is safe. The goal is to score a hit off the dive kick to land the beefy combo. If they’re blocking the standing shorts, then redivekick and/or grab setups are more viable.
Exactly what he said. Last thing you want to do with rufus is have them block your HP GT because it ends your offensive momentum.
Hi guys - i’m picking up Rufus as my secondary and have been having a blast with him after learning how fun his rush down can be and now that i’m able to somewhat consistently land his bnb! Being able to combo into ultra is also refreshing (as i’m a Bison Main).
Question I had was in regards to his dive kick. Sometimes I’ll do a point blank dive kick (sometimes quick / sometimes at mid height ) and the animation looks like it should hit the opponent (Rufus’ foot is on their body) but Rufus’ foot seems to just slide off the opponent and not even register a hit as if it were a whiff. Is there some property of his dive kick that makes it whiff (even though it looks like it’s hitting?).
Dumb question: what is “THAT” 1-frame link that Rufus apparently needs for high-level play? It seems to be a well-known thing… thanks

On Gief, Boxer and Hakan, the dive kick whiffs from foot to knee if they’re standing. On Fei long, I noticed his foot and ankle hitbox is weird and the dive will whiff if it’s too low(and fei is standing). Also, 2hk and 3mk sometimes whiff when you can actually see rufus’ foot touching fei long…
Does anybody remember the weird dash thrus in SFIV?
I just found one in SSFIV.
EX GT x FADC x Dash fwd U2 caused me to dash thru viper
too bad my capture card was off. i’ll keep trying
