Rufus changes you want!

I’m not sure you understand what “disadvantage on block” really means.

I wish that Rufus can do more damage, he hits are too weak. Also more invincibility frames on EX-messiah I keep getting stuffed. I also wish dive kick was actually good, one like Dhalsim’s dive. Last of all I want more ways to connect his ultra.

We’re talking about 2 different things. I’m not talking about Rufus’ GT recovery frames by themselves, but the situation the cornered character is in, and how spamming GT is safe. What is Vega going to do against a pressuring Rufus in the corner?

Since Fierce GT is only -1 on block, and Vega has no attack thats 3 frames or below besides grab, what is he to do? If anything GT puts them at even frames since rufus has 4 frame jabs, but considering the situation, and what Rufus can still do, GT does not leave him at a disadvantage at all in that matchup. Its basically free chip damage.

Yeah I was gonna respond to that but it looks like u alredy took care of it. Being negative one frame against a character like Viper or Vega…u might as well be plus 1 frame. LOL.

Rufus was definitely one of the characters IMO that they mostly did right as far as making useful and powerful. Everyone else getting toned down almost kills a need to wish for anything for him. People who liked Rufus can pretty much keep liking Rufus and that’s a pretty good thing. They made Claw’s wake up weak on purpose cuz he was supposed to be strong on his feet but that didn’t quite work out perfectly in the last game. We’ll see with Super.

Vega’s c.lp will beat Rufus’ c.lp after a blocked GT. Since he’s -1 Rufus’ c.lp will come out in 5 frames while Vega’s will come out in 4. I don’t see how that’s “even”.

There are going to be advantages and disadvantages in every match up. I don’t see the point in coming to the Rufus thread and complaining about match up disadvantages. I don’t like how I can’t dive kick pressure Balrog and how he’s a brick wall if you try to play him normally with Rufus, but I don’t go into the Balrog thread and complain about how OP Balrog is. All the time you spend here complaining about match ups can be spent trying to overcome the match up and find ways around things.

I’m not complaining or bitching about Rufus, I’m just stating the truth.

Rufus has an extremely powerful rushdown and wake-up game on alot of characters…basically anyone without a DP. Also, about not being even after a GT on Vega in corner. No Vega is going to throw out a cr.lp against a Rufus after a GT for 2 reasons.

  1. If he grabs you, you just got reset again and are open for more dive kick overhead shennanigans.
  2. If he’s sitting on meter then EX-Messiah kick is just too threatening, so most Vega players just continue blocking and wait for an opening to escape.

Throwing Scarlet Terror (aka Vega’s flashkick) out is not safe since it isn’t FADC’able.

Rufus may have struggled with other top tiers but he outright dominated the rest of the cast with his ambiguous divekick and ridiculous ultra setups. Is this entirely Rufus’ fault? Not exactly, most characters were just not given the necessary tools to deal with his rushdown or to keep him out. However, you can’t deny that something needed to change.

Ha ha good shit, I actually play Rufus. this thread just seems as good as a Sagat of Ryu improvment thread. at least its a breath of fresh air from the i can’t get the LK, HP link. Oh and someone might wanna take care of the match up thread…its not cool to give ppl bad info.

I think Rufus’ ultra 2 will work wonders in the Fuerte matchup just to get out of his mixup game when you get knocked down. I don’t know if I’m doing anything wrong, but it’s damn hard to get out of that.

I don’t think it’s safe on block though, and Fuerte players are ALWAYS going to pick U2 against Rufus. If you pick U2 against Fuerte, they’ll probably work more mind games during a match to try baiting it out since the ultra doesn’t combo nearly as good as U1. Rufus target combo doesn’t even connect to it… we’ll see how it goes.

So you are saying there is some kind of mind game at hand?

Rufus will almost never grab after a blocked GT since it pushes back so far that you have to take a couple of steps to get into grab range so I’m not sure why you’re even worried about that scenario.

Got to play a bit of SSFIV today and I can confirm that link from s.short to s.fierce is ALOT easier now.

The reason vega isnt going to poke after a blocked GT is because it means dive kick into fat combo

Can anyone post what the new damage on falcon kick is (it was 90 if i recall in vanilla)…hope they didnt put it below 70 = (

I agree. Don’t forget Ultra 1 is a fireball killer if you time it right. Did it a fewl times in a tourney I was at yesterday. :slight_smile:

Granted you have to be at a rather close distance, but if you’re rufus, that’s where you should be, right?

The range Ultra 2 fireball punish works at is stupid.

How stupid? Can you reaction dash ultra a fireball from full screen like Balrog, except do it easier since it’s not a charge command?

Long story short, anything inside of full screen for ground based projectiles. Like three fourths screen.
