Rufus changes you want!

Sharin said on the last page that EX SS does 210 damage now and combined with j. hk it does 300.

Not much of a nerf if you ask me. Still gets more than the rest of the cast off of air to airs. He’s looking to be one of the top characters in Super as far as the old cast goes. Only time will tell how good the rest of the cast will be.

How much damage does his U2 do at max and unscaled?

It did around 450-480 not sure how much, but it was around those numbers

Perfect Vids…The question is that FINAL build we are watching??? if So he wasn’t touched that much at ALL Niceeee

Yeah Rufus wasn’t going to be touched. Basically all he needed were Sagat and Ryu to stop being such dicks to him and he would go up the list.

On SRK it says falcon kick damage was nerfed, but on eventhubs it says messiah kick. Anyone know which? My guess is messiah kick.

Also what does, “Adjusted moves that were advantageous just by using it, and the ones that were too strong” mean?

I heard EX messiah has less invince and does less damage. I’m assuming falcon kick may have had a slight nerf but WTF cares about that.

Rechecked dev blog, and it is indeed falcon kick, I’d recognize that kicking pose anywhere (not to mention I looked on Jap wiki to confirm it). Messiah kick possibly got nerfed too, but the dev blog mentions absolutely none about it.

“Adjusted moves that were advantageous just by using it, and the ones that were too strong” was a direct translation. I’m going to guess EX SS on “the ones that were too strong”, but none sure about “advantageous by using/performing it”.

I can tell u what that means already just because I’ve fought Rufus and play SF enough. What that means is Rufus has too many moves where you literally just “do the move” and the move does the rest for you. His EX snake strike just covered too much of the air for the damage it did and combined with j.HK was just unnecessary against a lot of the cast. EX messiah having 13 frame invince and ambiguously punishable was a little too much also. I’ve never really seen much any other character in SF where you literally just do a special move at the right time and nothing else and u get big pay off. Now Rufus has disadvantages to balance that obviously but he just got too much for doing too little in some instances.

Here’s my Rufus wishlist…

So did they make EX Messiah follow ups unsafe? What are the disadvantages to these moves? I know EX SS got toned down damage-wise, but it still does a lot (I’ll take 300 from j.hk ex ss).

Huh? All his EX Messiah followups were already unsafe. Hell, some characters can punish a blocked EX Messiah before he can even choose a followup.

Speaking of which, is there any confirmation of less invincibility for EX Messiah yet? I hope it can still go through fireballs…

Well the MK overhead follow up has zero frame disadvantage on block and the HK sweep follow up is only negative one. The MK overhead follow up will usually beat people trying to mash shoryu or Ultra since he jumps behind them at close range. There are definitely some characters that can stuff Rufus some of the follow ups but once u let Rufus start aa MK or HK follow up if u block it he’s out for free. LK follow up is the only follow up where he dies if u block (negative 18).

Isn’t MK the sweep? Anyways, I’m talking more about getting reversed before any of the followups come out, or getting reversed during the followups, not after they are blocked. Getting SRK’d out of overhead followup, etc. I know you said the overhead sometimes goes over them in this situation but it’s spacing dependant.

I really don’t get why you insist on explaining a character you don’t play, but let me help you out. MK is the sweep, HK is the overhead, LK is the armor breaker. 66% of the time if you focus Rufus’s follow up you’ll be in a situation where you can do a level 2 focus attack and follow up with ultra if you have it. If the Rufus player goes for the lk follow up, he’s taking a huge risk because if you do happen to just block Rufus leaves himself open for the ultra. Not to mention that you could always just learn to block and you’d break even everytime.

Also the only shoryuken that will ever whiff from the HK follow-up is Ken’s, but the Ken player has to really screw up the timing for it to happen.

wow they were going to take away the DIVE kick completely are they crazy???

Well whichever button between MK and HK is not really the issue any ways. I’m pretty sure I’ve had Rufus use HK follow up to leap over an uppercut or at least an Ultra from my Sagat. It’s true that anyone with an uppercut type move really can just kinda mash after the initial EX messiah and either win or trade. Though no one wants to break even with a fucking uppercut. That’s stupid especially if Rufus already has a health lead on you. For characters that don’t have real good reversal options u have to play a random mind game with Rufus after a blocked EX messiah. Like if you’re Ryu yeah u can just mash shoryu at everything though for other characters u have to go into the guess game.

I just don’t really like the notion of breaking even with something that’s invincible in the first place that only takes on EX meter to use. Like if I’m Viper I can’t really use focus attack because her focus is too slow so I usually just mash HP thunder knuckle. Though Rufus can time the MK sweep so that he gets a trade that takes off way more damage than my HP knuckle.

Where did u hear that?

Probably just make it alot less safe, not take it away completely

Yeah I read the article now and they said they were going to at first totally nerf the move. Which means they probably would have made it further disadvantaged on block or made it so u can’t combo off of it anymore. Which would pretty much instantly make Rufus low tier.

Though it’s funny that they even looked at nerfing his dive kick as a means to tone him down. Of all the things to tone down about Rufus I would have never looked at specifically toning down the dive kick. Rufus is a non functional character without dive kick the way it is. The dive kick has some crazy properties yeah but it’s the stuff he can do afterwards that’s the issue not the dive kick. It’s obvious that they are catering to the bigger demographic of half assed online warriors.
