IF HE DOES ANY DAMAGE AT ALL, HE’S BRAINDEAD
goddamn, shut the fuck up, real talk.

That’s just what the people who love to jump say.
But you can dive kick all you want.
Can I? Maybe you should brush up on your match up or get quicker reactions.
I’d rather complain.
oh, so u bad. okay, that’s fine, i guess.
Ramdom ex moves shouldn’t take off 300 life IMO just because someone jumped. Rufus ground game isn’t that terrible where he needs to be getting damage other characters wish they could get in their bnbs by catching them with a j.hk to ex move during their jump. Its not broken by any means but I definitely stand by it being excessive just for catching the opponent out of the air.
Rufus isn’t braindead though he has a lot of good go to kind of moves. That’s just the nature of a solid character and I think that’s what Super is trying to do. Bring in characters on par or above the offensive power of characters like Rufus. I personally like Rufus for top 5 in the game at this point though. Sure its pure slpeculation but if Super is designed around offense Rufus is auto buffed basically IMO.
No, DevilJin 01, it’s pretty broken. Super damage for 1 EX stock is preposterous, especially off of such a dominant air-to-air.
I also said “and threat”. What I meant is that EX Snake is one of the single-handed best damage options for him that doesn’t involve ultra. Not that I’d depend on it, but to definitely consider it when the OPTION presents itself. If people are complaining about it being OMGWTFBBQGDLK, then THEY aren’t playing against Rufus right.
And regarding stock consumption for EX Snake as mentioned in the below quote; what does Rufus use his other meter for? EX Messiah + LK > FADC so as to avoid easy punish? Oh that’s right! There’s an economic balance trade-off!
The fact of the matter is Rufus’ up close options boil down to c.lk/c.lp, dive>s.HP/MP>HP GT, grab, OH, EX Messiah. Rufus’ primary means of approach is with a dive kick (secondary being either HP GT or df.MK) of which none are inescapable and all are even vulnerable.
People who think that jumping back is the best answer against Rufus’ up close pressure, you’re honestly putting yourself in the Rufus Sweet Spot for j.RH+EX SS (If you’re lucky) unless you time your A2A early to keep him from getting at you. “Jumping back” often puts you closer to the corner, and why would you want to help Rufus get you there? Masochism?
Blocking+tech is probably Rufus’ worst enemy because it resets a good amount of space he gained when he got in and he actually has to wait for an opening to get back in so as to avoid raw ultras and other counters. And along with what I’ve already said, if Rufus EX Messiahs and you block, and he has no FADC available, he’s basically at your mercy.
You’ve lost all credibility.
I see what you mean. I take back what I said then. I thought you were saying that’s his main way of damaging people, and that may be true when playing at a low level, but when playing people who know the match up they know how to safe jump/avoid that move all together while still being effective in the match up.
now that fat boy is my main i dont mind if they nerfed his ex snake strike…actually i dont mind any damage nerfs they give him because he can still deal with anybody on the cast.
with rufus i dont fear makoto, ibuki or any of the new cast except dudley, i see his pokes giving rufus some problems
akuma, ryu, sagat, bison…(yeah bison), sim amd fuerte are the only matchupts i worry about. sagats new ultra is going to be a bitch for Rufus
the only thing rufus needs imo is some FADC tricks. aside from absorbing an attack or messiah fadc ultra you cant do focus tricks. c.mk, tornado spin, fadc whatevr would be nice
You see Dudley’s pokes giving Rufus problems but not Ibuki? Do you remember even fighting my Ibuki in 3S? LOL. Plus Dudley’s pokes look hella nerfed so far from watching vids. Unless you’re afraid of black jabs I can’t see what else you’re worried about as a Rufus player. Maybe s.HP? I just don’t see it. s.HK is ass compared to 3S. IMO most of Dudley’s normals will be reduced to effectiveness only at close range like he was designed in 3S. All of his long ranged normals outside of s.HK were incredibly risky to whiff.
Viper couldn’t really strike fear into Rufus because her footsies were as bad as his. Unless he was knocked down Rufus didn’t care. She can’t land knockdowns off light or medium attacks either. Ibuki has buff ass normals like s.MK and f+HK that will easily shut Rufus out.
ibuki HAS to jump though. so if i have meter im not worried about anything ibuki can do unless she knocks me down. Rufus’ new ultra might give her and fuerte some problems i think. dudley’s pokes just look like they are gonna be a bitch to get around if you dont have a fireball, he looks like a tick throw nightmare in this engine. i must admit that i havent watched alot of ssf4 vids so im playing pad scrub theory fighter right now
i am very, very VERY interested in what you and Eric K will bring out of ibuki and makoto though… muaaaahahahahaha. this tourney seawon is gonna be very interesting
If they do her right she won’t have to jump. She didn’t really have to jump in 3S either. It was just she could because she had the ability to. It wasn’t necessary to jump in 3S and as long as her normals aren’t shit she won’t be jumping in IV. The only character I HAD to jump against was Chun Li because her ground footsies beat mine hard. Everyone else it was basically on my accord to jump at safe ranges to apply pressure at angles they can’t reach. I could still easily just play a ground game and win against most of the 3S cast.
Viper is an example of a character that will eventually have to choose between super jump/cross up super jump BK at Rufus because if he closes the gap she has very little in footsies for him outside of s.MP and s.HK. Your best bet really is just to stay there and play with the little footsies you have but the jist is if you let Rufus get in u get to mash on HP knuckle and when that stops you low block for ur life or lose. Her short ranged HP Knuckle makes it really easy for him to dive in front of it so it whiffs. Ibuki won’t have those footsie issues that Viper had. If anything it’ll be like fighting Chun with better BnB’s. That’s why when most Vipers fight Rufus they go NUTS at round 1 cuz that’s the only time he’s not super scary. Once he has more than 1 EX meter u have to play defensively.
You need to watch that video of S-Kill, Magus and a few others showing off Dudley in SFIV. Ass long range footsies minus black jab.

There’s the video. Jabs look really good but everything else is nerfed hard. He’ll still have some solid AA normals and a DP but this guy isn’t going to totally out footsie Rufus and especially not Ibuki.
sh1Nd as** Rufus** in Hamburg:

He looks exactly the same.
It certainly seems like he wasn’t touched much. That’s a very good thing though.
They were supposed to change Rufus’ look?
And Rufus J.MK crosses up Dudley in that video against Dudley. Not sure if j.MK is a full cast cross-up now, but that’d be stupid if it was.
Has there been any confirmation on the damage reduction of snake strike, or does it still do 280 damage?
