Don’t know. Don’t want to bother cutting up a madcatz fightpad to try. Good luck if you can figure it out.
Retrolink pads typically are pure garbage in my opinion compared to the originals. I had a retrolink snes and nes pad, and I returned it the same day, they feel so horrible. Maybe the Saturn ones aren’t pure garbage, but I would never ask somebody to pay $250+ and then put something I think is substandard as a central piece of it.
They start at $250 for the most basic of models, but jump up in price if you ask for replaceable artwork, and stuff like clear buttons. May seem like much, but for the amount of hours I put into this, roughly 10-20 hours I only make about $60 after all the expenses. A walmart employee gets paid better.
I know how to pad hack the pad and all but the one thing that i need help with is the DB-25 connection hook ups and the Electrical enclosure that hold the PCB for the console that i wish to use it on. i would really appreciate it if u wouldn’t mind helping me out even if its just a bit.
Thanks.
The Saturn pad I bought seems to have good execution, but the design feels cheap overall. Basically, it plays well but feels like it could fall apart if you play on it too hard. That, and the plastic has no texture on it whatsoever, so it’s slippery and makes it look like it’s been made out of recycled tupperware or something. You’re right, I wouldn’t be too happy if I paid $250 for a controller and saw something like that attached to it.
I totally understand on the pricing. I still want a PSX pad but it’ll take a bit for me to save up for it.
Would the price change if one provided you with the PSX Pad, Buttons, Wires/Chips, ect that you use specifically? I have pretty much all of the parts, except for the case(s) lying around.
So I became inspired by RTDZIGN, and I was able to use do a Vita and Hori Mini Stick Hybrid, A Snes and Hori Mini Hbrid, and a Sega Saturn and a Madcatz Alpha Hybrid controller.
The Vita is a awesome controlller for Fireball Char Types. For charge up Char after playing for a couple hour non stop, I get some hand cramps. I tried using different Grips to alleviate this, but was not successful.
The Sega Saturn Hybrid Pad is my favorite, only because I can play Charge or Fireball chars for two hours plus without experiencing hand cramps.
The SNES Hybrid is super nice too, and it’s my favorite for doing “chimneys” to evade attacks, and play high level footsies.
I can’t wait for the next gen of 3d printer to be developed and release so that I can start making making my own controllers… this is one of my dreams.
