Yeah yeah yeah, it’s just habit. I meant Squaresoft, or just Square. Pretty much the best games to come out of Square for me are games that Yasumi Matsuno, Akihiko Yoshida and Hitoshi Sakimoto work on(FFT, VS and FFXII).
i haven’t played ff12 yet thanks to my ps2 being broken but i’m looking forward to it
It’s basically star wars with Chocobos.
I loved the gambit system. It’s so fun to not play. I mean that as much as possible even though it sounds weird.
Plus the Gilgamesh fight is one of the best boss fights in all of RPG-dom.
Baten Kaitos 1 and 2.
Shadow Hearts: Into the New World.
Baten Kaitos for its art, gameplay, boss fights, and story.
Shadow Hearts cause its in America.
USA!! FUCK YEAH!!
DO WHAT HE TELLS YOU! fucking bunch off Magypsie on this thread
Made it to disc 2 on Blue Dragon. I feel like they could have fit a whole lot more on disc 1. I mean honestly, the discs seem like they are just there to make it seem more old school.
Well thus far with Persona 3 I have a few gripes.
The main one that pisses me off is that you could accidentally stumble into a enemy advantage fight and because you get knocked down by your weakness, your essentially fucked. It makes little sense to go back and save through a course of grinding, because all the progress you made through the area becomes nonexistant.
One hit kill moves like Kill rush that target your character is dumb as fuck. The metal beetles in the Arqa block are exactly what I’m talking about.
So yeah, saving is bad, and random monsters that are normally ownable rape your ass. Other than that, great fuckin game.
SMT games always seem to pull some kind of bullshit like that. Nocturne comes to mind. Those fucking Nekomata could charm you and you would just smash your party in 2 turns and die.
The last boss in Grandia 1 is seriously like 10x easier.
Seriously, you don’t even have to grind in Grandia 1 EVER and by the end the strongest enemies in the game will barely be able to scratch you. And I think I just ran through the final dungeon avoiding like 90% of the fights.
Dark Cloud 2 for the PS2. It really is great. Highly recommended.
Anyone play Spectral Force 3? Thoughts?
Vandal Hearts on PS1. I HATE RPGS and I throughly enjoyed this game.
Is it easier than G2’s final boss? .
I grind in Grandia 1 just to get new magic/skills.
Just started Dragon Quest V for the first time. I like it so far and I know it’ll get better once I can start recruiting monsters. The only other DQ’s I played were 4 and 7.
Playing DQ7 was one big dilemma for me because I really liked the mini stories you come across and the animations in battle were good but it was a grind session 20 hrs through. The game easily had a 100 hr playtime without the extras. Class system required grinding to learn new skills and get new classes and even some of the bosses later on required some grinding to be beaten. In fact, the whole second disc was just sidequests/secret bosses.
I know grinding and DQ go hand in hand but I just wasn’t used to purposely entering battles in order to lvl up, as I usually just fight any enemy that runs into me first.
Anyways, DQ4 and 5 were solid and I’m looking forward to when 6 hits later on.
yall toughen up, scrubs :nono:
Please tell me someone here played the shadow hearts series…please
I’m sure a lot of us have played at least one of the Shadow Hearts series, or maybe even Koudelka.
I played Covenant. It was okay. Russia arc was fun, but before taht was a bit slow and boring, and after that was even slower and more boring.
RNG deaths are ghetto no matter how “tough” you are. Decrying their pointlessness is not scrubbery.
When Dr. B “shivs” a “fool,” he doesn’t roll a die to determine the damage.
Torment makes everything else irrelevant
wow, really?
maybe just our taste in rpgs, i honestly think Shadow hearts covenant is one of the best rpgs out and the series has potential to be the best series if they continue to make some
Holy shit, so true.
I don’t think people realize how disappointing the last fight in Grandia 2 was, but for those who played part 1, omfg…
I even remember when my friend saved at the last save point in the game, we were like “well, I’ll save for now and play another time. It’s not like I’m close to the end or anything.”
A week later, we got back into the game, and wouldn’t you fuckin’ know it, that was the end of the game!
Last boss sucked, ending was terrible.
But before hand, it was really good.
Agree’d!!!
I don’t know if this counts, but I’m currently playing Sacred 2.
It’s a online Diablo clone, fun game and a lot to do.
I mean, look how bad ass the intro is with Blind Guardian playing the music:
Any series has the potential to be the best if they’re being produced.
I thought it had too many silly moments that detracted from the atmosphere (again, Russia arc wins this part) and that the whole timed button presses thing was alright. Timed button presses I thought were done much better in a recent game, the Last Remnant, which had different speeds of button presses so that you’re kept on your toes.
I’m not saying it’s horrible or anything, I’m just saying it wasn’t particularly awesome either to me. Then again I’m quite discerning in my tastes.
