Roundtable Discussion: Ways in which to expand the SFxT community

  • SFxT is pretty much the main “side” game at tourney’s lately… we’re official but usually given the worst timeslot on streams despite the pro’s professing to love it since 2013 dropped.

  • Jibbo is on deployment in Japan. Last I heard he might be back in time for EVO. No promises.

  • Ryan Hunter is active, but not in the spotlight (no streams or tournies etc)… he’s been in the irc channel and on xbl just about every night for the past month.

  • Defense Force is alive and well but not quite as vocal since the hate train died down a bit and we’ve been at tournies more often lately;

    • Final Round: ODStarwin, Psychoblue, Sethlolol (you’re part of it, shut up >.> ) and myself
    • Texas Showdown: ODStarwin, Sai
    • NCR: Kojibeoulve, GoodLuckKammy, TZA, Empyrean (don’t think he played though…)
      Might be missing a few people from Texas Showdown and NCR since I wasn’t there…

Speaking of tournaments I believe Chaoslimits and a couple others will be there participating so go support them on stream (or in person if you can)!

I believe, before anything else, for any kind of community to grow for real, you need to respect each other. Something that’s really lacking when it comes to the Internet in general, unfortunately.

Tournaments, tutorial videos, and many other things people here already mentioned are important, indeed. However, with all the lack of respect people can see, not only in this forum, but in many others as well, eventually none of the above will be enough to keep the community growing.

I agree. It can be frustrating when people who don’t support the game just pop in this section to bad mouth it and stir things up. But i’ll try my best to be respectful and lead by example! I hope to get a local crew going with some of my friends and hopefully some people I can meet on here.

I’m hoping that a lot of the online warriors who really do well make it out to some tournaments and show the potential this game has. Quite frankly not a lot of the top players in other games play SFxT, so it’ll take some fresh new faces to garner interest in the game. At the same time, a lot of people who try out the game whine about how different it is from AE and to that I say those people are just too lazy to put in the effort to adapt to the game. There still is a lot of negative stigma attached to the game, so I think it’ll grow when more players come out and show just how awesome it can be. My guess is that EVO will do that, because we will most likely be seeing some heavy hitters from Japan come out and show off their skills.
