Rose Player Died

I remember him not only as a Rose player but also a CVS2 player on streams… he got my total respect, rest well pal.

Just shows you how uncertain and unfair life is. Joshua had a lot to look forward to and he just got robbed of all of it. Seemed like he had a good head on his shoulders and that he was a really likable guy. If anything, this shows you that you need to live every day as if it’s your last and treat everyone as if it’s their last, regardless of how cliche that sounds. I’ve experienced plenty of deaths in my life, family members, friends, etc, but this one hit me especially hard. Maybe it’s because I feel like I have a lot in common with this guy despite not meeting him. Ultimately, we’re all a part of the same group of lunatics- we obsess over and specialize in fighting games. I guess I just see it as a different type of family even though I’ve barely met any of you guys.

My thoughts go out to his friends and family. Can’t imagine what they’re going through. He was a Rose player? Well I’m a Guy player, and I know he would’ve beaten me down! R.I.P Joshua and thank you for being a part of our community.

My God, and at such an early age. I’ve played him numerous times online. And just like DJ i use to chat with him alot on PJ’s Stream back in the super days. I remember him showing up again to one of the last Guard Crushes not long ago. Damn man… shit hurts seeing this happen to him.

My prayers too him, may god bless him & his family.

I found out through twitter. Couldn’t believe it. Put alot of work into rose. So sad.

Ugh, 4-5 hours of shitty sleep later, and it’s still true.

Absolutely… sk was clearly a pillar of the SF4 community, even much more so than I realized. It really needs to happen IMO…

Me too, man, me too. To use another cliche, it’s totally one of those “anyone but him” situations. And yeah, when you share a passion for something like this, it’s a special bond, no doubt, and when you combine it with how nice he was and that he his life was really coming together… it’s just brutal.

Every time I thought I was ready to rematch you, and I got blown up I would always say I’m sorry for wasting your time. And you would always tell me “No it’s ok, I had a fun time fighting you. You’ll improve over time bro, just keep practicing” and then when I finally really felt like I was ready for a rematch it’s too late :(. I wish I got to take a few visits to 8-Bit Dojo/Next Level/And Guard Crush like you recommended. You didn’t deserve for your life to end like this, but you got your college acceptance so at least I can say the most hungry/humble person I ever know went down swinging.

Rest In Peace.

UYG will be holding a Farewell to Joshua Colon @ UYG 24/7 Livestream. 7 players will be invited to the SSF4:AE Lobby where they will select only Rose with Timeout and No buttons pressed. The video will be uploaded to Youtube and posted to his FB page in memory. The stream chat will also be recorded so anyone who wishes to pay their respects can do so during that time.

I’ll be more than happy to pay my respects for his loss. He was truly one of the Rose players that I respected the most and it’s still hard for me to believe he’s not here anymore.

He fought me many times asking to learn the Sagat match-up. I used to laugh and say you will not need to know this match at all cuz there are no Sagats online worth talking about. But I would still spar with him because he was a street fighter player like me and in my mind that made us brothers.

Had I known this would come to pass I would have sparred with him much much more.

Rest well Joshua. May we meet again in the next world.

I remember when we started talking to each other on NintendoWorlds when i was about 11 or 12. He was a very passionate worker when it came to school and he always had such a good attitude towards others. We played Smash bros. , Naruto, and MKwii. Then he taught me how to play fighting games and by then i gained a passion for playing fighting games. I cannot believe i was talking to him a few days ago and now he is gone. I hope you’re in a better place man.

R.I.P. My friend

Nem, is this still at 5PM EST?

I played sk online many times. I was always impressed at his confident play and how he was always so courteous when I messaged him asking for tips in the matchup. From what I’ve heard, he was just as chill and polite as a person in real life.

Rest in peace, man. I’m picking Rose for you tonight.

I use to play him often on the UYG stream a year ago. Really good Rose, and was instrumental in me learning the matchup. Don’t know him personally, but I followed his progress. It was nice to tun into offline streams and see him on. He would have became a beast in games for sure. He also seemed like a pretty nice guy, not too brash or arrogant. Incredible patience for such a young player. Overall he seemed like a nice guy who was passionate about fighting games. Really a pitty to see him go, especially someone so young. God has big plans for him in heaven though. R.I.P Josh Colins aka sksksksksk222

Shout outs to Bosslogic for making this.

Yep, it is.

Aw man… nem you are the best… if this is happening tonight, I won’t be able to attend because as much as I want to just like eat a lot, smoke a pack of cigs and go back to sleep, I am going to go to Next Level for the tourney solely as a respect to sk and to get out of the house/be with other fighting gamers… maybe hope to see many of you there or virtually via Team Spooky stream…

Rip and condolences to the family.

I’ll be at work while this is happening (website is blocked at my job) :frowning: I’ll be looking forward to the recording and thanks for putting this together. Much props!!

Damn dude…

You were a patient, smart player as well as a patient, smart person.

Rest in peace, SK - you are forever part of the dojo.

Known SK before he joined SRK. I remember when I introduced him to SRK because I used to post the URL on my MSN and he joined on my birthday. He started playing a game called Street Fighter Online before all these games became mainstreamed. He represented Rose everywhere. A sad day for the community. I hope someone can give us a full detail on what happened to him. I hope that seizure wasn’t a reason for him to pass away. But, anything is possible.

You’ll be miss Joshua Colon.

-Sincerely,

James (G0F0RBR0KE).
