yeah i wanted to get something flashy though
Dudes…I played Rose for a long time tonight. It’s sad to say, her ultra doesn’t beat fireballs on reaction. They hit her arm if it’s not a jab fireball. This is WITH THEIR ARMS OUT DURING THEIR FIREBALL ANIMATION. So yeah, unless you throw it out on a guess (not on reaction), it won’t be hitting   .
Also, anti air ultra is ok…but they need to be jumping from FAR. Anywhere near her neck, and bam it’s a fat combo.
So yeah…Rose wasn’t as hype as what I saw. Her main game will be poking with her awesome normals…not playing much of a fireball game since she can only use the jab one, and it still sucks…
…and doing hard as hell B&B’s…
…so yeah unless someone shows me something I’m missing, her anti air game is pretty weak aside from EX soul throw, which requires meter, classifying it as not too useful.
I tried her low strong, low fierce, not as good as it seemed.
Can you not use the Focus Attack as AA? Like, don’t even bother eating a hit, just throw it out there? You can combo ultra off a anti-air FA so it would be nice if it has decent priority…
Hey, fuck you Rose and your gigantic ultra hitbox.
:shake:
It’s funny when you do get caught in it.
Do not use cr.mp as an AA - just use cr.hp and yeah, it’s still pretty good. You can’t just jump in on her because she doesn’t have something like a dragon punch.
Rose’s fireballs have always been kinda sub-standard, but that only means that she doesn’t play a typical fireball/dragon game - which is good, because that shit is boring. You can get fairly creative however. Jab Fireball > EX Focus is actually useful, if you want to expend the bar to use it. She recovers almost instantly from the dash making it a decent pressure tool, as the fireball travels slow enough for you to actually team up with it.
Links are of real importance though…you have to get them all down and she has quite a variation of cancels and links. Just remember which drill to use though, as they’re quite suspectable to punishment/reversals…as with slide
I’m watching Psychochronic’s match vids right now and in one of the Rose/Sagat matches, Sagat used his ultra to punish her blocked ultra. And he didn’t block it up close either.

Ultra AAs Bison’s EX Head Stomp.
if light soul reflect is the way it used to, i believe it might also power rose’s projectile. at least thats what im pondering.
Ahaha that’s an awesome hitbox.
Lmfao, word. Shit was ridiculous. Good thing she’s my backup.
*Edit: Thanks RS, for that answer.
That’s nothing - it’s all about doing her Ultra against a fireball from almost full-screen range…

Oh my God.
I think someone in here earlier said a non-EX reflect will send EX projectiles back. I just had Ryu throw a couple at me, and I gotta say, it ain’t happening. Only EX reflect can send back EX projectiles.
Spinoff “move” question from the combo thread.
How are you guys using the reflects as offensive moves for juggles? Meaning, have it strike the person instead of bouncing back a fireball. maybe off a whiffed DP or something? I suppose you could combo into it, but what are the options afterwards? Soul throw can’t connect, i’m sure you can soul spark but i’m not sure if it will hit unless you FDAC out of the Reflect to do it sooner.
I would just combo to drill as reflect has no range for it to be used as a sturdy combo starter.
This.
Just about everything pushes you back too much to use reflect. However, to punish big whiffs like a Dragon Punch, I might just dash up and do reflect into super.
2:57 and 3:36 when she fights Cammy has some of the sickest use for d/f +mk I have ever seen.
I was putting together some stuff for extended pressure with it myself, but this guy definitely has the right idea.
Pokey Pokey.
i was playing last night as rose and her soul throw always got knocked out of vs. ryu and sagat when they jumped and m.k. doesnt matter if they kicked early or late, rose still ate foot on her way up for the throw.
Something to look out for: When fighting Chun-Li, if you combo into the Soul Spark, even if she takes the hit, she can reverse into her ultra and hit you with it.
I like to throw out a c.mk, soul spark combo every now and then to help with spacing, or jump in with fierce, standing fierce, soul spark (though drill would hurt more, I need to start implementing that), and I ended up eating ultra a couple of times for both of those.
Yeah, I don’t think it’s too good of an attack unless you can predict the jump (no problem, she’s a fortune teller!), so I use is sparingly.
Crouching fierce is my mainstay for jump-ins.
Is there any reason to use f+HK rather than just s.HK? They seem like the same range. Though I know f+HK beats lariats and stuff. Anything else I should know?
Plus, anyone have a hard time canceling soul spiral into super with just 1 qcf? I had trouble doing that so I just do qcfx2 after soul spiral. More work, but easier imo.
