Pretty neat regardless.
what are the exact properties of ex soul reflect? is there a zone of invincibility?
in 2012, we don’t know ( they said projectile invunerability)
in ae, nothing. the hit box is completely standards.
No special properties for EX Reflect in AE, just starts up faster at 8 frames.
we have projectile invulnerability up to the reflection itself (which is technically projectile invincible because it should reflect the projectile :P) in ae2012.
I don’t really get the buff. Do they want us to use it to reflect meaty fireballs?
I saw in the beta test a Rose being able to EX reflect Vega’s horizontal air thingy (not the one were he can do izuna drop).
It didn’t looks THAT hard to do. You just had to know that it was coming.
You mean that annoying ex-attack that every Vega player uses during online matches? After poking a few times
I just block and ex drill that thingy, because it’s safe and easy. You can also use super I think?
…But if you want to really blow the Vega player’s mind use focus attack to go under it and then dash for the throw lol.
dunno where to ask this and haven’t tried myself
Yun/Yang’s Palms are supposedly considered projectiles
have anybody tried absorbing/reflecting them?
just curious… also… in 2012… was thinking maybe ex reflect will actually hit them if they try a meaty palm?

That seems like it’s worth testing. All comes down to how many invincibility frames EX Reflect gets. If it does get enough to reflect a meaty palm, it can probably reflect any other meaty projectile as well. That would be sick. No need to deal with meaty Tiger Shots anymore.
Yun and Yang palms are like Cody’s and Ibuki’s projectile. Yes they are projectiles but they cannot be reflected/aborbed. Only ki/energy/plasma type of projectile can interact with Rose’s soul reflect.
And since Yun/Yans palm are still active for a long time in 2012 (even with their active frames reduced) I think it would only depend on how late the opponent will do the palm. Considering:
-
Yun: Palm Strike damage reduced from 160 to 140, stun reduced from 250 to 200, chip damage reduced to 30, active frames reduced from 15 to 10.
-
Yang: Hard Palm Strike’s damage has been reduced from 150 to 140, chip reduced to 30, stun from 250 to 200; Also, the Medium and Hard Palms now have four fewer active frames.
-
Rose: [EX Soul Reflect]: Move is invincible to projectiles until frame 7, and shot reflection occurs from frame 5. This makes it easier to instantly reflect projectiles.
…this could be a little tricky
It’s still not necessary and going to be rarely applicable. I’d much rather be able to deal with meaty fireballs with a fully invincible EX spiral. >:[
you have live or psn?
My internet isn’t good enough to actually play online at the moment, but I do have a Live account: toraiku. Why do you ask?
I would like someone to test something for me since I’m not that good at testing things in training mode…
lp reflect beats seth’s divekick more easily than any other reflects ?
no need to try.
Well, LP and MP Reflect do have lower hurtboxes than the HP and EX versions. Unfortunately, their hitboxes are lower too. LP Reflect doesn’t look like it has any advantages in startup or active frames either.
Seth’s divekick has crap priority. I’ve had it lose to crouching attacks, normal Blanka electricity, and I’m pretty sure Rose can just normal soul throw it if it’s not being landed meaty, or going to end up behind her. I’ve seen Guile air throw it too as it’s coming down on them so… dive kick is a rather overrated tool. I mostly use it for evasion, positioning, and for mix-ups. Definitely not looking to just jump at you from mid range and be like “oh boy here comes my dive kick. betcher skurrred!” because its combo potential depends on the range it lands at, and just being so obvious with the dive kick, it’s unlikely to land as a hit.
I’m now thinking that if Seth uses a dive kick after 2 or 3 jabs, you can just give him a fat c.HP before the dive kick begins to descend. Neutral jump is somewhat good too. keeps you safe from SPD and avoids the dive, but you can get caught with Seth’s j.MP juggler to stomps or ultra 2.
First of all, divekick stuffs cr. fierce if the rose reads a normal jump in and times her AA assuming he does a normal j. roundhouse. I’ve played seths that stagger their jump in into a divekick and stuff my cr. fierce ALL day.
Secondly, ST has no invulnerability. The only way its catches any moves is if we throw it preemptively meaning we get you on your way up. I’m assuming you mean EX ST, in which case yes. If i spend a meter, yes i sure as damn well better beat your divekick. This is assuming your talking about a normal jump in.
His divekick is really really really good. In situations where you can use it, it’s so ambiguous and basically forces you to block, in which case you can simply SPD right away or uppercut or put the person in another blockstring. But of course you can’t just throw it out at midrange. Can I jump at you at midrange with my jump roundhouse or jump fierce? NO. So you shouldn’t be able to just hold up forward randomly and expect to beat out my AA.
As a mixup tool, it’s retardedly ambigous enough.
this shows you know nothing about Blanka’s electricity…
First of all Blanka’s electricity depending on the strength are completely different in properties… HP being the best because there’s only 1 frame gap… vs MP 2 frames and LP 4 frames… EX also got 1 frame gap but a slightly bigger hitbox despite the animation suggests.
as far as AA goes… electricity is probably one of the best anti-air moves in the game… practically no jump ins can get to him… even at the ‘crappy’ 4 frame gap LP electricity it’s more likely the opponent will get electrocuted than landing it…
the reason is… electricity hurt box is extremely low… think rose’s slide… but maybe even lower… the hit box is way above Blanka’s head… so pretty much the ONLY type of jump in that will hit Blanka out of electricity are dive kicks… but they only work if they are lucky to get in the 4 frame gap of invulnerability… if they are trying to dive in against “normal” HP electricity… it’s practically impossible… given the LP electricity already do good enough job.
The reason why you see people stuffing Blanka out of electricity sometimes are the following reasons.
- They activated too late… so… you see the electricity animation but it really haven’t started hitting yet…
- They end it too early… there’s basically two types of electricity… the start up electricity and ‘mashing/continual’ electricity… if you wanna find more… go on blanka forum… given the blanka player isn’t a scrub… he’s most likely gonna do the first version which is a bit harder to effectively AA with… you need more precision and skills… but if they are expecting to AA you… they’ll do the first type and continue to mash to get the second type which has the property that i mentioned above
- The dive kick manage to hit blanka foot and nothing else… this is practically implausible to do unless… Blanka is completely predictable and the dive kicker is taking very unnecessary risk to go against a predictable blanka… chances are this only happens with luck…
in general… Blanka electricity alone is better than all of Rose anti air options…
so saying Seth dive kick sucks because Blanka’s electricity can beat it… is nearly like saying Yun’s dive kick kinda suck because Blanka’s electricity can beat it as well… -_-;
