Rolento's Pogo Stick

This thread is for mixups or technology associated with the pogo stick.

None of these are safe if your opponent is looking for the specific option you choose and they have a decent reversal.

After landing slide (usually after Bnb)

Option 1

  • Jump forward
  • Hold down-forward and press MK after landing immediately behind your opponent on their wake up.
  • Press MK in the air** immediately** after you begin to bounce back over your opponent. You land to far away to consistently land the Bnb but you can hit confirm it into sweep and restart the mixup.

Option 2

  • Jump forward
  • Hold** down** and press MK after landing immediately behind your opponent on their wake up.
  • Press MK as you fall straight down on their initial cross up side. Your MK will come out facing the other direction but if the spacing is done right you can land it into Bnb.

Option 3
-** Walk back slightly** and jump forward

  • Hold down-forward and press MK after landing immediately in front of your opponent on their wake up. This pogo should connect a jump in hit on your opponent.
-** Immediately** press MK after the bounce to follow up with a cross up into Bnb.

Option 4

  • Do any of the previous openings on any other option
  • Use** KKK** on landing rather than down MK. (less recovery on empty landings)
  • Instead of canceling the bounce into a MK just land and hit with a cr. MK into Bnb.

if your opponent uses forward rolls to escape these mix ups then use Option 3, but hold down-back to bounce towards their roll direction. Also, you can pretty much invert any of the options accordingly if you predict the forward roll.

Forward roll + jump back and any button beats these. The roll in this game destroys any kind of wakeup game.

if you predict forward roll you just invert the mix up and it can often be even harder to read. Also when you have your back to the corner their probably not going to roll into the corner and vice versa which can make the roll easier to predict if you think about where your opponent wants to be.

You can option select it by doing neutral jump, d. MK for Pogo and hold forward. If they roll, it will auto-correct and follow them on their roll for an ambigous crossup. If they don’t roll it will cross them up, although most characters with a reversal uppercut can get out of this.

jump back after a forward roll beats the tech chase for free, is what nevermore was saying

but if you do a really early j.mk you can usually hit them out of whatever move they choose.

I tried messing with this stuff tonight and Hugo’s back breaker auto corrects and trumps everything you can possibly do in the air. Once he caught the moon and broke it, and it wasn’t even out that night.
