I only want him to have reversal so the opponent has some fear before rushing his shit down, not so I can mash it into ultra and shit.
His playstyle is flawed currently. Something most of you aren’t acknowledging is that all you really have to do is downback against him if you really need to. He has no reliable chip options, and they are all either unsafe or slow has hell to startup.
Like I said, He’s not the worst in the game, but I’m not going to stop talking shit until they fix him. This is my vow.
Cr.mk is odd. Several times in different change videos you’ll hear combofiend talk about how moves were changed to fit the animation, but go to training and watch cr.mk. It does not reach as far as the animation (lol his foot goes through people) and causes whiffs unless you start the combo from pointblank range.
Seems a common theme with rolento is deceiving animations. lol
Don’t mistake all this bitching for us not liking the character, well I can’t speak for others but I am certainly sticking with him.
talking shit with no purpose won’t get anything changed. Also you say everyone should down back but then you say you want him to have a reversal so people won’t rush you down… doesn’t make alot of sense. Also people have to do more than downback, outside of standard options like, throws, and tick throws, he has an overhead.
But if his gameplay is flawed, what is the flaw? how would you fix it… I think his gameplay outside of some issues with things he used to have in older games and some hitbox wonkyness is okay.
Also I’ll try st.lk for karathrow. I tried otherstuff and didn’t notice an improvement, forgot st.lk though, its funny you are posting here god2.0 haven’t seen you since RBFF2 with GhostPilot on ggpo.
I feel he feels rather fine when not pressured up close. I wouldn’t want to see him get a too strong reversal, but his MD Escape is a bit lackluster. Faster startup and faster air movement, as well as better air control would be nice, but mostly they should just fix his hitboxes a bit. Oh, and regular MD Escape should have more control. Right now it seems to be 100% pointless.
Stand MP could perhaps do with one additional active frame, but so far I have been using it to good effect, and opponents above you can be dealt with using cl.HP. His ability to link almost anything and juggle everything makes him quite fun to use. He feels like a slow cross between Guy and Vega.
There are plenty of other characters that operate the same way… IE the already mentioned Vega. Rolento I believe, Capcom originally put into Alpha 2 as a sort of Vega replacement. Of course he had scouter hop then …
Also I agree that Regular Mekong Delta escape in its current version is almost useless. Much the same as it is in sfxt. More Air control would be a nice improvement. Also its funny that the ex mekong delta escape doesn’t even work like it does in Sfxt. If you do ex while cornered into j.mk you get an instant hard to block crossup which would be somewhat better than how it operates now.
You mean how it’s +6/+3 to close’s +4/+1? Almost feel like that’s a typo because far lk has the same data as s.lp. Close lk supposedly is 3 frame though, so that’s neat.
For f+mk counterhit you’re ~+4? That would mean you could link any jab or short into a combo, albeit being a 1 frame link. Kinda lame but whatever.
On rolento you can link the jab not the cr.mk from the jab (though I guess you could just cancel to ex rekka from that) from what I could tell at least. I assume it happens against more people than just Rolento. Also yeah thats what I mean. I don’t think its an error since cr.mk doesn’t seem to link off it, just like a weirdo decision.
I just found the hard way that fighting shotos under laggy conditions is impossible.
Missed the cr.mk link quite a few times and just got rekka instead. Free shoryuken every single time. Didn’t they change light patriot circle to -3 from -2 for the console build? Seems like they did it so you could mash shoryuken.
Alex Valle has been playing casuals with people at Spring Fighter, but I think tourney is starting soon. He uses a lot of spike rod and FADC off blocked rekka. He also did a reset off EX Stinger with HK (works if you hit 2 knives or fewer)
If he only had invincibility on ex patriot he’d be a solid mid tier and actualy balanced.It would be a lot like the rufus ex kick.Just imagine rufus whitout it and you can see what a huge deal is for rolento losing it. I’m really hoping they rebalace a bit wen the disk version comes out even tho its not very likely.

What do you vs dudley meaty S.HP pretty much anywhere on the screan that doesn’t involve wasting a meter on that crapy wall escape that can get punished.
I’m almost certain that they will do a final batch of tweaks when the disk version is released. They still need to implement the new trials, and can use this release as a final beta test. It is unfortunate that they probably won’t patch it before evo, considering the plethora of bugs it has.
Possibility one more patch can come out? Because if it is then maybe all hope isn’t lost haha. I hope this doesnt turn out to be like my former main zwei on sc5, even with all the analysis and research in the world he still ended up being low tier in the end. Ima still stick with rolento tho
well, they fucked up vega badly in the sf4 series. notice most of the mid to low tier characters gets their shit pushed in once they get rushed down due to the lack of reversal.
almost everyone has the same complaints about rolento; bad mobility, useless mekong delta escape, no reversal, deceptive wonky normals.
My pole normals have gone through so much today that it’s ridiculous. Sometimes it feels like the tip hits perfectly and sometimes it feels like it goes right through. I tried to punish some of cammy’s normals with the tip of stand fierce today, and her normal literally went through the pole and hit rolento.
Rolento gets fucked by abel on knockdown. Too hard to read that shit. My best advice is flip out of his grab attempts if you make the read…(I think that should work) then punish with roll into red focus for good damage.
Also his normals are Wonky, and yeah not having a true reversal does really really suck in this game. Maybe they will bring back ex patriot. If it snot safe on block and not fadc’able, I really don’t see the issue, especially if its slow enough it doesn’t punish jabs.
oh well I’d really like to see in order of things changed - normal hitboxes fixed, MDE Fixed, then give back ex patriot. I still think we need more time to see what to do in situations. For now we may as well accept what it is though and think of new cool things to do.
