Drove the scarab around a little bit last night.

Thought it would be similar enough to the gizmo and it looks unique. I like it. So super goofy.

I also denied a guy that wanted to add me for the first time. I was like, “no, dude, I’ve already got enough people on my FL that I don’t play with.” We forced a forfeit by going up lik 6/7-1 in 2.5 minutes. I kinda felt bad but it’s true. I’ve added people and never played with them again, I’ve gotta prune my list.

I don’t add anybody to my friend’s lists except real friends and you clowns, for the most part.

We gotta get a few games going again, soon.

I’m hoping to get a good session going tomorrow night if I’m not too tired from my trip .

I had to add Fox Mulder because somebody made an ‘FBI tapping laggy guy’s computer’ joke and fox was on my team and I said the FBI was probably tapping his. Thought it was funny.

3 on 3 sucks balls if your 3rd is a random who is trying to constantly buttfuck you trying to get the ball.

2v2 is the superior mode even if your teammate sucks.

Got the topper and candy trail so far

my coworker and i had a really slick give and go play last night. he was playing close on D bicycled it a little bit forward and took off to head to offense, their deeper guy bailed hard into goal, I hit the ball around midfield toward the corner of the goalie box and hit my teammate in stride pretty much and he nailed the shot.

that felt really great. we went on a bit of a tear last night.

I’ve been rocking the scarab without any hat or antenna, the cloudy paint and hydro boost. Trying to go full stealth mode after a guy made a comment about not being able to tell what way I was facing after I scored on a backflip I hit while they were ttrying to transition to offense.

2v2 is ass. Attempting to be offensive is horrible. Either you have one dude in net, and now he’s defending against a 2 on 1, or you leave your net empty, and you end up scoring a ton of goals in the game from the other end, and it becomes boring. May as well just play 1v1 if you dunno how to play well with others.

I really want @joshkaz to get off his lazy ass and play this more (or was that Marvel Heroes, I forget which of you pussies is which, sometimes). With a good 3rd person, the game becomes WONDERFUL.

What’s killing me is dudes who just dunno simple fucking positioning. Like that guy we played with last night who cried because I yelled at him for abandoning the net. Dude’s like “im not being goalie the whole game!” Meanwhile both goals they scored early was because he WAS the goalie then left the net. Goalies in this game rotate. You come in, you set up a center attempt, or take a shot, then u get the fuck back. You are 100% FUCKING USELESS if you are sitting still in the goal crease. You dont have the speed to push the ball in, you can’t properly boost into the ball, you can’t knock in a rebound or a centre. You’re just asking to get run into by the other team. One guy should go in deep, other stays at around half court, close to the side the ball is on, to prevent the ball from leaving their zone, and to knock in rebounds and centres. Most of my goals are scored this way because I understand somebody has to be in front of the net for a centre attempt, or else it’s useless. You help nobody when you come chase after the guy going into the corner who is setting up a corner.

My other biggest pet peeve still, is dude’s who hit the ball just because that’s the only thing they can do in the game. Oh hey, the ball is leaving their zone, I better hit it INTO OUR ZONE that’s such a genius strategy. Sometimes the best play is to NOT TOUCH THE FUCKING BALL. Get in front of it and block it instead. Block their shot/pass. But don’t just hit the ball because it came near you.

AND FUCKING HIT PEOPLE. I am shocked at how many people attempt to avoid other drivers like it’s fucking Sunday and they’re going to church or some shit. Fuck that, hit dudes. How many teams I’ve seen with one guy on the other team just staying in net, and easily knocking away balls. Guy goes in for a corner/shot, and dudes just wait for the ball to land. Umm, is the other team just standing their waiting for the ball? GOOD! HIT THEM! Hit the goalie. Hit the guy who is waiting for the ball to drop. Hit the guy who is chasing the ball with you. Rub that mother fucker out! As a goalie you should never just be sitting in the net all day, anyways. You come out a little, in order to play the ball and keep it in their end, and attempt shots when you see opportunities. Keep your boost full. If you just hide in your net, we our now outnumbered in their end, and will probably lose most battles. Sure, sometimes they get a lucky shot that bloops over your head and it goes in. But that doesn’t happen as often as pinching in can pay off.

More people need to watch pro games, and see how the pros position themselves and move around. SOOOOOO many dudes don’t backflip to get back in position…they make a shot, then do this big giant turn around, killing off boost and wasting time, and putting themselves OUT OF POSITION. I can’t count the number of times I go to centre the ball, and I see my team mates either chasing directly behind me (USELESS FUCKS), or driving OUT of the opponents zone NOT IN REVERSE, so they are unable to affect the ball if it does come near them, and are unable to just zoom in and knock in a rebound/centre. I can’t stress enough that you should never have 2 guys in the same corner, nor should you EVER EVER EVER EVER have all three guys on your team in the same location, unless you’re defending the goal. Congratz, we freed the ball up but now none of us can get to it because we’re all bunched together.

Been trying to get in shape lately so I don’t stay up as late any more.
Friend wanted to play some Hearthstone, so that was what my last 2 hours of the night went to.

If you’re on Wednesday I can play. My one day off this week.

My 2s teammate and I work amazing together. Don’t act like there isn’t teamwork in 2s. Plus I can play 2s publics because adapting to 1 person is easier than adapting to 2 fuckheads.

You have to play by possessions, if you’re on offense there are essentially 2 positions. On the ball, one person who is trying to play the ball. Dribbling forward, moving the ball to the corner, taking shots or making passes. Off the ball: sit around midfield and watch the guy with the ball and more importantly watch the defense to see if they are going to try win the ball and fall back if so, take shots if your on the ball guy sets you up with a pass or transition to the ‘on the ball’ position if your teammate loses the ball and the defense doesn’t have a chance at the ball. Defense is a goalie and an on the ball role , who tries to win the ball or check offensemen.

Full court goals are few and far between if you know how to play.

My issue is that a major part of the game is centres and playing the ball like that. It’s playing defence. When you go 2v2, it’s just hail mary garbage. One guy sets up, other guy takes a shot, and if you miss, other team just fires it back down to your end. It’s just dump and chase. May as well just play 1v1. I love hockey. I love hitting people, I love rushing back to play defence. 2v2 is just rookie shit, and I purely dont like it one bit.

Not really. As I stated above. Simple plays don’t exist, or are too punishable. It isn’t fun, at all to me. Literally, the game I played with you last night is the LAST 2v2 I will ever do. Ever.

that’s fine. I’m probably done plays 3s w/o a full party lol.

I like the space I have to work with without an extra 2 people. I like when I’m rewarded for getting past a defender with space and time to make a pass. I feel like that’s what I don’t get with 3s. I haven’t played on a team in 3s where I’ve been able to dribble the ball for more than 2 touches without a teammate getting ansy and coming up from behind me.

you SHOULDN’T be dribbling the ball though. This isn’t end to end soccer. I never ‘dribble’ the ball ever. You’re very rarely going to be able to deke another player in this game, at higher levels. That’s why you see so many people ranking down, because they play simple mindedly, and get murdered in higher ranks. The game is all about passing. Look at some of the best players, they are literally never letting the ball hit the ground.

Hell, I still never see people drive on walls that much. And that’s a legit strategy in this game. People are playing like it’s LITERALLY soccer in a car, instead of fucking Rocket League.

Reminds me of when you see people driving cross court in the game (not end to end), and instead of just smashing the ball off the wall, for a good corner, they try to turn around, aim at the net, then end up just failing miserably instead. Everybody is so interested in being a superstar in the game, going end to end, getting all the goals. Fuck, just play as a TEAM. Pass the ball, get in position, be ready for rebounds and centre attempts. Too many people wanna be a one man show. It’s the same thing I see in EA’s NHL Be A Pro mode, dude’s just trying to be a superstar, and doing everything themselves. There’s only so many times you try to go end to end by yourself, or try to deke a guy, or try to do anything and fail, before you should hopefully learn to either go play the AI if you wanna be a one man show, or man the fuck up and be a teammate, when you play with other people.

You’re the one making all the comparisons to hockey!! but agree to disagree then…

I wish I weren’t as drunk as I was last night so I could better remember how you played outside of telling people to get in front of the net. lol

Just got this game about two weeks ago highly addictive. Are some of these achievements locked to DLC though…?

yes. there are a few achievements tied to DLC.

Because it’s more like hockey than anything else. No out of bounds, full contact, very hard to go one on one against somebody.

I was drunk too, so I kept missing the ball a lot lol. I generally play to anticipate this, ball missing happens all the time. That’s why when one guy goes in the corner, or plays along the side boards, I hang back, ready to knock the ball back in. I’m not like super angry about this shit, although it DOES infuriate me from time to time. But some of the stuff is just so common sense. Like if all three of us go into the corner, how in the fuck we putting the ball in? All of us are tied up in the corner, nobody is open, nobody is defending. I shouldn’t HAVE to explain logic like that.

And get in front of the net should be rule #1 in any sport like this. And a lot of people follow this rule, but just do so poorly. They’ll sit like 3 inches in front of the goalie like real soccer or hockey, thinking they can just knock the ball in, meanwhile they’re 100% useless in that situation.

this is how I view how it should be played:

G = Goalie, C = guy in the Corner, X = other teammate.

Goalie shouldn’t be too far in the net, because then he can’t play the ball, and if they get a half decent breakaway, he’s probably fucked. He’s not in the play at all, thus it’s now 3 on 2, in the other teams favour. Goalie HAS to be ready to jump into the play when needed, other teammates have to recognize this and get back (if I setup a centre, I generally rush back right away, afterwards, I sure as fuck ain’t scoring a goal or doing much after a centre).

Guy in the corner is the guy in the corner, NOBODY else needs to go help him. If he fucks up, you need somebody near mid court to prevent the ball from getting out, preferably with an attempt to get the ball to bounce in front of the net. It’s not a bad play to just smash the ball into the corner, and see what happens. I usually just smash it, then hang back, and catch a lot of my own rebounds.

X Other teammate, stays generally in the square I drew. Stay near the boards, in case the ball comes up the boards (quite common when goalies attempt to clear). But don’t just live on the boards, or else you leave mid court empty (not a huge issue with a good goalie), and you’re unable to knock in rebounds or centre attempts when they arise. There is generally 3 directions you should ever move when you’re mid court, not including going back to defend. You’re either coming to the boards to put the ball back in their end, you’re going cross court if the opposing team tries to clear the ball out, or you come in to take a shot. You do no good going to the corner to help, especially if the goalie is staying far back. You do no good staying too far into the opponents zone (the half circles I drew in front of goal, you should only be there if you just made a shot or attempted a rocket boost shot, NEVER stationary), as you leave the boards and midcourt open.

that is how we play 2s, minus the goalie. the only things I hate about 3s is there is always 1 laggy guy and I get rear-ended by teammates once a game on average. I should actually do something with all the replays I have.

one thing you can do off a center is go hit the goalie. I have shitloads of assists where I touch the ball in from a corner, drive past the ball and ram the goalie while the ball rolls slowly in front of goal for my teammate to clean up. Worst thing that will happen is goalie jumps to hit the ball and you have a weak roller in the corner with plenty of time for teammate to act on it.

And that’s what I hate. I hate not being able to trust behind me. I don’t like a game where a team can fuck up, and then it’s just a simple end to end goal because the other zone is completely empty.

Meh, get a better 3rd then. Getting hit by your team happens all the time. Getting hit by other team, too. I find it funny you complained about that last night too, then proceeded to drive straight into me the following game. Sometimes people are watching the ball instead of their surroundings. You SHOULD be constantly changing camera angles and looking around you, to keep an eye for people trying to actively hit you.

Oh while I totally agree, I generally SELDOM see people try to hit goalies. When a goalie is just chilling in the net, sometimes I just got after them for a bit…either fuck em while they AFK, or make them take their focus off the game, and to me. It sort of depends on where you end up as a corner after you set up a centre attempt, and what your team is doing.

But to be honest, the shit the just pisses me off the most is when you have like 2 or 3 guys all go for the same ball in the corner, or when you clearly see a teammate lining up a shot (even a bad one), and you rush in and steal it off them. Now two of you are out of position. That and goalies who just hide in the net all game, doing nothing. Even if you’re the greatest goalie to ever be a goalie, you’re USELESS just sitting there doing nothing, putting our team at a one player disadvantage. Too many people playing the game, without a single care as to what everybody else is doing, they’re acting like it’s a single player game and everybody else is an AI. Some of this shit comes from decades of playing and coaching sports, but some of this is common sense and people shouldn’t need to have this shit pointed out.

Dude comes in for a shot, and the ball bounces over his head, whatever, it happens to the best of us. Three guys go into a corner after one ball, ball comes out of the corner and NOBODY is available to deal with it, and opponents get a free goal from the other end? Yeah, now I’m mad.

Nothing infuriates me more than going in with the ball, setting up a nice corner, and then i turn around and one guy is literally inside of our net, and the other guy is 2 fucking feet behind me, like I need a fucking vehicular shadow or something.

in my experience in 2s the player that haunts midfield can either play the ball back into the zone or retreat into a goalie position on like 97% of plays that get stolen or are missed by the forward. balls that fly from an offensive corner directly into the net are rare as fuck. have trust in yourself to be able to get into position, you can move real fast, faster than the ball in almost all cases. its just too cluttered with 2 extra guys for me to have fun. also there is more boost fuel to be had, while at the same time you can still deny opponents boost, so you can fly/boost more which is more fun for me lol.
