=Robocop Thread= Can you fly, Bobby?

Robocop is one of my fav movies of all time. I liked The Fountain and The Wrestler, so hopefully this remake turns out good.

Boddicker is one of the best badguys in movie history!

In all honesty I think RC is just fine as is but I suppose if they can make it as cheesy and action laden as the first one I’m in.

They can’t cut this out. Red jello anyone?

I hope in the remake they make it just as violent and even gorier. Mainly what I am talking about is the scene where they blow his hand off with the shotgun. I would also hope thye keep the scene where the guy gets mutated by all the chemicals and then liqufies when the car hits him.

“ILL BUY THAT FOR A DOLLAR!!”

yes!

well that sucks

brand new robocop comic!

Is it wrong to like Robocop 2 just as equally as 1?

I try to block 3 from my memory as much as i can. That one was horrible.

2 was a decent moviebut it just was a massive giant step down from the god-like first one. 3 was terrible.

Aronofsky should be given free reign like Verhoeven was. Seriously Verhoeven made what could have been a Cannon film into a darkly comic saga of a vengeful American messiah.

I liked 2 just for the robot on robot fights. hell i got a kick out of seeing the robot straight lay waste to the people in the warehouse and watching the black dude barely make it out alive.

Aronofsky doesn’t make bad movies. Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, Pi, and The Wrestler is quite a group of four movies to make over the last 11 years.

Robocop is one of my favorites, so I’m at least glad it’s being remade by a director that I hold a great deal of respect for.

They should’ve remade 3…

RoboCop 2 was cheesy fun but I knew it would only be cheese from the moment I saw the trailer. Like everybody is just phoning it in. Like at the end of the original, RoboCop regained his identity as Murphy and was talking with the cadence of Murphy but in the sequel Peter Weller is using RoboCop voice. “I… AM… ROBOCOP.” Like WTF? Dude was always Muprhy (he never flatlined/went braindead and basically got robot limbs but kept his head and most of his torso and vital organs like brain/heart). He just went from skinny Irish guy to killer cyborg and with that his idealism went down the toilet and he took a more Dirty Harry view of crime. Seriously RoboCop won’t arrest you. He will just kill you. You’re a rapist? Robo will shoot your cock off before executing you

Robocop always had the best tag line on the DVD case too.

“Half man, half machine, all cop.”

OCP runs the cops.

Robocop is my favorite movie of all time so I’m probably overreacting but I’m absolutely sure that this remake won’t be as good as the original. They’re just not going to get the humor right, the cast was perfect, etc.

At least the director made Requiem for a Dream though. Shows he can make an entirely unintentionally hilarious movie. I like that movie for all the wrong reasons. When the fridge jumped at the old lady I laughed. When the dude woke up and his arm was amputated so he started crying like a bitch I laughed. When “ass to ass” was said I laughed.

I did like Pi though, for the right reasons.

finally another person that thinks that movie is hilarious. That dude is forever going to be known as the ass to ass guy.

I can safely say I didn’t laugh at a single part of Requiem. Most of the time when people say that shit it’s just to look baller like they don’t have a heart.

Call me heartless then because I can’t care for people who consciously fuck up their lives with drugs and aren’t looking to better themselves. I had a heated argument about this with a couple friends years ago, I don’t really want to go through it again.

The only time I thought anything was undeserving in that movie was when the mom received shock therapy, because that is just plain fucked up. I did laugh at her convulsions though.

So basically, someone makes a mistake, fucks their life up, you don’t care? My ex-girlfriend had the exact same sentiment, ironically. She stopped watching that movie and said the exact same thing. I always wondered if it was the fact that the movie was actually funny to her or so uncomfortable of a subject that the only reaction she had was to laugh and ‘not care’. That’s a very common reaction to an emotional stimulus that people aren’t really ready for.

I’m not trying to hash out the drug argument, but to laugh at someone for getting their arm amputated is pretty silly. Do you laugh at people who die from a preventable cancer?

…wha, why?

“Ass to ass” didn’t make you laugh?

Okay, I guess that did.
