I understand and sympathize with where you’re coming from however, why does public opinion matter so much to you just curious? As long as you enjoyed the original and have good memories of it isn’t that what ultimately matters? No reboot can affect how you feel about the original.
I think the reboot will get the original more attention from those who haven’t seen it before, and there’s always the chance that the reboot does the original justice.
DK2 is amazing I could talk about the brilliance of that book for ever, from the chatroom-like dialogue going through the whole book mocking the internet to the many classic comic book cameos and homages to the art bursting with creative love and joy like an angry excited 15 year old drawing comics saying to himself “im BETTER than Frank Miller” and having his gf with an mac coloring it.
ROBIN: I LOVED you! I would have done ANYTHING for you!
BATMAN: You’re breaking my HEART. Let’s Die.
god I love that book. Geoff Klock wrote some great stuff on why millers batman is dope
I want others to experience the same amazing movie I did without the stain of the remake. It’s one of the most important 80s movies around. It shouldn’t be tarnished.
the funny thing is there are so many shit movies coming out, hollywood doesnt know what to make to make some more money. they know superhomo movies doing well (with all the superhomos around, no wonder) and thought they could make a buck offa new robocop as well.
they are not making this movie cause they thought they could make an even better movie than the first 2 movies. what really sucks are some of you guys still hoping (the the real retards, actually believing) for a good robocop and are willing to go and spend money on this bs. you guys are the cancer that makes hollywood grow and develope some more lumps they call movies.
heres a tip, dont go to the cinemas for shit movies.
I get making 200 million dollar super hero or blockbuster flicks because of the merchandising. I remember that the original Batman made 400 million theatrically but made close to a billion dollars in merchandise. And the studio didn’t have to share that merchandise revenue with the theater chains.
What I don’t get is spending 100 million or more on something you can’t really merchandise.
Likely the hand is not some aesthetic element but will play a major part for char. I see an interesting departure that this movie could take from OG one. And I think the potential for merchandising prob played a huge role in greenlighting this movie (ironically), hence the pg-13 rating. I love how everybody so mad in here. Micheal Keaton is gold.
Saw it a few hours ago and it was very meh. They threw in a few nods here and there but overall it was forgettable. Not god awful, just meh and couldn’t hold a candle to the original imo. Samuel L Jackson’s TV show segments were pretty good, and playing the Tin Man’s song during Murphy’s training exercise was nice. Pretty much nothing of Murphy’s original character was in this dude, and the whole thing about him knowing he’s Robocop from the beginning I knew I wasn’t going to like. They still managed to tackle the humanity issue though.
Dredd was way better.
Edit: Spoilers I guess?

and I’m still annoyed about his exposed hand. Served absolutely no purpose and it was just there. There’s a part where they disassembled his entire body to show that they’ve discarded his entire body except for his head, heart, and lungs. Then you just see his hand there awkwardly at the side of him. Then later on in the film he shoots off his arm to escape the EDs but it’s his robot arm. They didn’t have the balls to make him shoot off his organic hand and that would be a pretty cool nod to the scene where Clarence blasts that shit off in the original.[/details]
