Wow, that sounds great.
This idea would be somewhat interesting if the OP was a mid-tier player, trying to perfect his skill to a top tier level, but no, no one is going to care about the story of a scrub or newbie. What makes you so special from the rest of them?
In short, your project is a bad idea.
I respect your opinion. I’ll see you at EVO.
if you live in rhode island just play on console and travel to the surrounding areas with lots of good players that arent 6 hours away like MA and CT???
it would be more interesting if you didnt announce this and video taped your progress like 5 minute discussion to a camera after every tournament etc as you grow and interview people along the way and make a real documentary on the competitive scene from a long term perspective of say 2 years.
well made documentaries are always interesting 30 minutes or 3 hours.
Why would you see me at EVO? I hope you didn’t take my comment as an insult. It wasn’t one.
Anyway, I’m not going. Time conflicts. What a shame since it will be the most exciting EVO yet. Enjoy EVO without me. ; )
You dont even know what the fuck you’re talkin about
Gootecks means that you should be nice to new players whe you meet at the arcade and you can see in clarity whats wrong with their technique. Then you go ahead and advice.
He doesnt mean stupid attention whores who want someone to join them in their “journey”, thats stupid.
When it comes to forums, most newbies forget to look for the information and just go ahead and make useless threads.
You probably failed to read this.
I have helped newbies before
Example 1 here
Ive also consistently placed top 3 on tournaments in my state which even Gootecks would tell you it has a respectable level on 3s
Latest example here
Ive als contributed to EVO.
Last year I ran pools for Marvel, ST and CvS2
I didnt run any 3s pool, because my pool had John Choi on it and he wanted to run his own pool.
All of this (Shouting for players, looking for them, and running the bracket) I did expecting nothing in return.
I only wanted to help Joey (MrWizard) and his staff.
They were nice enough though, to give us (the pool runners) free breakfast and nice seats at evo finals.
Another thing.
There is no such thing as supporting yourself via playing fighting games.
We dont play for money.
We would’ve quitted years ago if we were looking for such thing, so dont come around saying shit like that, you fucking scrub. (and dont bring me that stupid smash arguement, I dont consider smash a real fighting game, theres a whole thread for this, so go and look for it…)
So yes, I know what Im talkin about and just like I said, your stupid idea is a failure, so is this thread.
I wont post here anymore at your request, so go ahead, and I’ll see you in 4 months where people still dont give a shit wheter you leveled up or not.
In the next pages you’ll see people wont even explain why (like I tried) and just go ahead and flame you.
Go ahead… just try to win an arguement against SRK…
You’re one of those unrealistic mofos that my sig talks about.
You’re pathethic…
Im out…
“puts your posts on ignore”
Basically one of the main mistakes a lot of 09 members make is drawing attention to themselves. That doesn’t go over well in just about any long-running Internet community, really.
I actually like the concept here, but it didn’t need its own thread yet. Stay quiet, travel to tournaments, learn, and post your progress on Youtube, that’s all fine. Once you’ve noticeably improved, people know who the hell you are, and you have a good number of videos available, then maybe you could try this.
Shut yo bitch ass up.
Now i read your other posts on this thread and i understand why your saying some of the things your saying. Also ive read every other post wheather they said its a good idea or a bad one. So let me fully explain why i even made a post and a youtube channel, while i pick apart the rubish of a quote thats above this.
First off. Evo. Its the MAIN street fighter event and to be honest the only one with out a invite that has a ok payout like what is it like 5g for first… ok thats not bad i guess but its only one tourment. i come from MLG a league that holds 5 events and first place prizes in Halo3 range from 20,00$ too 100,000$ for the nationals.
wouldnt it be nice to have a Street fighter league that had something simallar?
Secondly is to this hater who i would like to call a “jelly sickel” (look it up) and one thing he said imparticular how the 09 kids arnt really liked around here. well. like i said i come from MLG and if there is one thing not to bitch about is New players. So why exaclty arnt we or I liked. just cus i didnt play sf3? or marvel? That i actually wait for a game that i feel like spending time 6-10 hours a day practicing.
So why wouldnt you like 2000 kids at a evo event which would bring in more money and media to make this game more credible. the only reason street fighter anf fighter in general have not taken the next step to establishing themselvs has a respectable “SPORT” is beacuse of close minded people like this guy who want to keep SF undreground. (and grats on your past acomplishments.)
Lastly thank you for the people who support the idea. this isnt a scam. this isnt me trying to show off. or even get my name out. rather to show and document what it takes to become a pro gammer. i dont think this would only help other players in my position but also help myself and Active in many many ways. so if you dont like dont watch it. lol that simple. So any ideas or tips on the future show would be awsome and im always up for a good debate. so… bring it jd…
Well.as of right now i play ryu but i plan to swtich over to gen or maybe abel once hori decides to send me my stick… any way the facet that it may or may not be a good idea dosnt matter. thats not the point. i expect people to question and to be brutaly honest with me. if anything its gonna help so keep fueling the fire. its not a story of scrubs. but a story of insperation. as corney as that may sound thats the truth. i want pro gaming to be respected not frowned upon and no its not just about the money if u kno i could care less about the money. its about the competition and if anything proving people wrong and teaching people to think diffrently. so in the end my show may or may not help anyone. but 1 year down the line. i can look back at 100 shows we did. and remeber a amazing time. fliming evo and other large tourneys and for the people who actually plan to follow it will appreciate it as well and maybe even help.
I hope you guys aren’t just hopping the bandwagon for the money pot…
Sure thing… Pablo. lmao
I don’t understand why everyone’s against making money play video games. It’s actually rediculous. If your spending all those hours of your life playing them, and working to get yourself better, and enjoying it ofcourse at the same time, why wouldn’t you want to support yourself doing it, so that in the long run, if you get good enough, you can do it full time? That’s what I don’t get.
wheres the money pot in this game? 5gs for evo? meh i could make that in a couple weeks at work…
If theres one thing i respect about most street fighter players is there love for the game. no other game has that and i respect that very much. No its not about the money to me. but listen what is the media gonna pay attention too a tourney with 400 kids for 5grand or a tourney for 20,000% with 5 thousand people… its not about the money its about takeing this thing that has been frownd upon for sooooo long and bringing it to a level where people can be respected and yea earn a lil bit for practcing for 11 hours a day. not bad. maybe just me? : /
You know there’s an edit button right? To keep you from double/triple posting?
? where do u see double posts?
Now I’m not an expert… But if you’re after money you should probably go back to being a pro at Halo 3, whatever that is :looney:
I guess that’s exactly it. They weren’t interested before, why should they be now? The gameplay is the same. What’s really so new except the graphics and the hype around it?
That’s what annoys people I guess, and it’s perfectly understandable under the circumstances.
I must say, I’ve never noticed any frowning upon by anyone.
You posted while I was typing I was referring to Activee who double posted within 2 minutes and triple posted on the previous page.
same gamplay system sure but its a new game new players are going to emerge and be better than just wong gooteck people no one has ever heard of. why would i wanna goto a tournment for a game that i practiced for a year where marvel came out 10 years ago? smart thinking on my part i think. point is i like fighters but i never got in early and this is my chance.
I really don’t understand what you’re talking about. Help me out here.
Pro gaming? I haven’t heard anyone here complain about it. In fact, lots of our players wish our games like SF4 were in the pro circuits. The only reason why the scene isn’t pro is because our games don’t have the mass appeal and marketing power that all the other pro games have. Maybe that’s not the case anymore…
